For all you RDMs ...

Quote of the year for all you sheep: It's Avesta so it must be true.

I could just as easily say "It's Tomasello so he must be imagining things."

It is perfectly possible that Avesta hacks. I am in no way discounting that possibility. However, a *lot* of people watch and scrutinize his videos, so don't you think it's kinda odd that after all of his solo videos, nobody's proven he hacked anything earlier?

If so, why start now? His whole fame is based on *legitimately* soloing, with skill rather than cheats. It'd be meaningless to someone like that to cheat and brag about it.

So yeah, you're free to believe he hacks, you're free to argue he hacks, and if you make a *convincing* argument, people will actually believe it. Have you considered that maybe all these sheep are calling you out because, oh, I dunno, your argument isn't convincing?

Oh, and spent the last few minutes looking into Bind on various forums and info sources. Not a damn thing about built-up resistance. Weird and fluky duration (until you get into some hefty ice/enfeebling oomph for sticking power), wearing off after the slightest action sometimes and sticking for a long time other times, yes ... built-up resistance, no.

So, if you're gonna go "omg he hacks because Bind has built-up resistance and I'm not seeing it there", kindly demonstrate to where this built-up resistance idea came from, because I sure as hell can't find it. (This falls under the whole "convincing argument" bit - don't cite things as if they're common knowledge, when they're either a. just plain untrue or b. decidedly *not* common knowledge.)

PC position manipulation is possible because the server accepts, from the client, that its current position is a valid one. Because there is a flaw in the system that allows someone, client side, to say they are somewhere they aren't.

Then maybe he tricks the server into thinking he is standing next to the mob instead of further away by as you said manipulating the client into thinking his position next to the mob is the valid one. Thus making the mob stop because it thinks its standing next to him.

It can be done with character manipulation only if that would be the only way to accomplish it. It doesn't really matter how he does it only whether he does.

Concerning the discussion about mob movement, I do have a question because it sounds like everyone is saying its impossible to manipulate a mob because its controlled client side? I remember being in Kuftal about a year ago, lvling on my PLD and there were Gilsellers camping that NM Worm (I forget the name) and I remember they were moving mobs such as scorpions down there, and not by "kiting" them. They would just appear.

I'm pretty sure I also remember some discussion either on this forum, or maybe it was in a POL announcement after they did a ban that SE had been aware that RMT had found a hack to reposition mobs which they would use to gain TP before the NM spawned.

My memory is a little vague because it was so long ago but I do remember seeing scorpions popping out of no where because in the end my xp party left because it was getting crowded... but regardless, unless this was completely fixed since that time wouldn't it still be possible using whatever hack that made them reposition mobs?

And regarding Avesta cheating, I can't say 100% that he does or doesn't, but seeing that there are so many "avesta worshippers" i'm pretty sure that the fear of being exposed and having his credibility go down the drain would be enough for him not to hack.

It can be done with character manipulation only if that would be the only way to accomplish it. It doesn't really matter how he does it only whether he does.

If the server thought he was standing next to it, the server would also, I'd imagine, think the mob could hit him. Do try to exert some logic in your fanciful claims.

So now the monster thinks it's next to avesta in which case it couldATTACK him with Hundred fists?

I'm apparently RDM-ignorant here, but can somebody (else) back up that Bind actually builds up resistance? I know Gravity and the various sleeps can, but this is quite honestly the first time I've ever heard of it with Bind.

It does.... all enfeebles do except dia and bio. It's probably easiest to notice doing the mammet mission from CoP. The only way to stop them cause you can't sleep is to Bind or grav them. But the more you Bind them the less duration the Bind lasts. Eventually you start to get resisted entirely.

No, I don't think bind builds resistance. I'm not 100% sure as I don't have enough time to attempt to solo Genbu and Seiryu myself, but I do know that Gravity and Sleep do, though.

Easiest way to try this would be to find a weak NM and stand binding it all day. Since its weak, accuracy should be close to 100% untill he builds resistance.

As for this one;

they're a low level mob. He has more room to kite here and it's an ice base vs a wind base mob... he selected his target carefully, if he had a bind hack i think we'd have seen a Byakko solo video. by now. he only does fights that are possible. emulation of his tactics has led to some very promising results, IE my RL friend on Ramuh solod genbu to 67% on his first attempt and holds his pers best at 22%

Every aspect of every vid he has done is rather plausible. irrefutable.
People like tom exist on every server, how many gm calls do you think he has survived? not that it means much, but with the special task force playing around these days people with such exploits don't last very long. also, nobody else has discovered this bind hack, i'm pretty sure with the amount of people who make a living poring over the code looking for stuff to exploit someone else would have found it. i mean, hell, people find things in all sorts of corners of the code(eg D/C all man), things like altering spell effect and duration would have been examined for flaws early on.

he does amazing things on blm too. must have sleepga hax. after all that duration in ODS looked a little long... after seeing his vid, the sheer mastery of his play style i managed a few credible solos of ods. he knows exactly what point in a spell he can start moving at and not disrupt it and he can do that every time flawlessly. he must have an interuption hack! ZOMG.

People See what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. nothing anyone says will every persuade tomasello that there are people better at rdm than him. so be it. he didn't solo seiru by dwelling on the limits, i'd rather wager he went out there and thought of the things he could do and put those together, matched it to a mob and tried until he won. a little skill, a little luck, a little practice can take you far,

its not hard to find out when you can start moving. With AF2 body (not AF1 hat) I can start moving ar 35% cast time on Refresh and Haste. With AF1 hat it'd probably be closer to 30% Its not all that hard to find out. You can almost feel when you can start moving.

That's not true. I kited 2 of the mammets during both the low level fight and the airship fight. They did not build resistance to anything but gravity. Although I do admit, during the later airship fights its easier to just tank 2 of them straight up then kite them <.< faster too. Although maybe I suppose that could be due to the rather short fight.

and I have never, ever, seen slow and paralyze build resistance, during any of my HNM fights.

If the server thought he was standing next to it, the server would also, I'd imagine, think the mob could hit him. Do try to exert some logic in your fanciful claims.

Obviously it can't hit what it can't reach but its movement would be dictated by where it thought he was. For example your standing next to a mob with your back turned. Your next to it so the mob stops but you don't hit it cause you can't reach it when its behind you. Use your heads before you try to discredit valid theories.

Quote of the year for all you sheep: It's Avesta so it must be true.

You may have the "same gear" as this guy (highly doubtful) and same merits... but you lack the skill and experience it takes to understand the game well enough to know this guy is no fraud.

Well, maybe if you were exposed to players around you that hack to get ahead, yeah I can see why you feel this way. Are you sunk into the state of thinking in which "everyone hacks"? No, there's still a vast majority of players, JP and NA alike that do not hax to win. But if that's how you and your friends get ahead, hey, whatever rocks your socks. Don't get jealous when you see someone do things legit that you couldn't even do WITH hax =]

Also note: He did most of the fight on ICE day. HMMMMMMM.

Sorry but this makes no sense....

I think he's saying he could hack his position to "behind" the mob. But the mobs don't follow that whole "if he's behind me, I can't hit him" thing. Mobs can hit you regardless of your position.

A 40-cap mission mob is not exactly a good example to make generalizations about built-up debuff resistances game-wide, never mind Uzor's counterexample of never having trouble on them with *Bind*.

Obviously it can't hit what it can't reach but its movement would be dictated by where it thought he was. For example your standing next to a mob with your back turned. Anyone who's had intermittent R0 or lag or something when running from a mob can assure you that if the mob thinks it's next to you, the mob thinks it can hit you, even if on your screen you're way far away from it (and, due to lag, don't even see yourself getting hit or dying and can thus keep running around - hence corpses sliding around). Same principle.

And also, yes, you can be next to something without hitting it if you turn away from it. However, mobs will turn to face their target unless they're asleep or stunned or something (they can still spin when bound - or, as you claim, when completely unaffected by any debuff :P). Even ones with weird not-exactly-facing positioning, like wyrms, can still hit anyone around them, even if they don't turn. If the hate target moves behind the mob, the mob's gonna whip around to face the other way, not just go "durrr, I dun see this guy in front of me in any more".

I suppose you're gonna go on to suggest that he has some magical new hack that not only does everything else you claim, but also makes the mob face away from you at all times (but without actually affecting its visible facing-direction on *anyone's* screen) so it can't hit you?

Mobs have to face to you deliver a physical attack. When you pull hate a mob turns to hit you. Unless its like has a rear move like Spike-Flail or something.

PUP

STILL a long way from being a decent job.

I have to respectfully disagree with that statement

kinda like bst we have our disavantages but we have aspects that make us shine in certain situations

Mobs are considered to be facing you if you have hate, pretty much. Sometimes the client HAS ISSUES KEEPING UP with this spinning, but it's definitely an instantaneous thing. Why does this matter, by the way?

Yeah I understood what he was trying to say, but it didn't make sense to me because like you said, the mob can hit you regardless. At least they seem to always hit me. /sigh

From what I could see in the video, his binds did look genuine. Sometimes they stuck for a good period of time, sometimes they just sucked and he had to run for it. That's how they seem to work for me too, fairly random. If he were hacking I would think they'd look more consistent and bind for a set amount of time. It doesn't make any sense that a bind-hack would be random in duration....

Tomas were you a war hero in Vietnam?
