For all you RDMs ...

I suppose you're gonna go on to suggest that he has some magical new hack that not only does everything else you claim, but also makes the mob face away from you at all times (but without actually affecting its visible facing-direction on *anyone's* screen) so it can't hit you?

Why is this so hard to comprehend. The mob only has to think your there so it won't chase after you, as long as your OUT OF RANGE you will not get hit.

Avesta isn't a cheater. A good majority of his tactics are sound and do work or did when he used them (some of the videos predate nerfs, ex: ODS and sleep resistance, I believe). While a good dose of skepticism is healthy, without any proof, it's just skepticism. Nothing about him or his strategies leads me to believe he cheats in the slightest. I've witnessed a RDM solo Amikiri once before and it's an amazing sight. A single player accomplished what well-equipped parties have failed to do and it was without any hesitation. He had it all strategized and timed out. It was almost too perfect, but if someone is smart enough and quick enough, I don't think it would be stretch for the common player. A lot of the game mechanics are very simple. Sleep lasts a predertimed amount of time and so do a lot of other spells. SS, Phalanx, etc. all absorb a certain amount and if you can get a decent understanding of how long they last versus mobs attacks, you can know when to recast. My point is this, with enough preparations and good strategies, almost anything is possible. Just because you think it's not, doesn't mean it's not. You have to realize how many trial and error runs that went into each and every video as well. Just because the final product went smoothly, doesn't mean there wasn't a hundred more that wound up as failures.

Just my two cents, take it or leave it as you wish.

Perhaps the best way to summarize your argument is such:

"I find it more plausible to think that he uses some ridiculously unbelievable and illogical combination of hacks that nobody's ever heard of, than to think that he can get an unresisted Bind because Bind builds up resistance.

I *know* that Bind builds up resistance, from one very unscientific example. The complete and utter lack of mention of anything else on the subject on the internet, and someone else's counterexample, just goes to prove my superiority and the fact that I know more."

Sweetie, people aren't arguing with you because they're Avesta fans, they're arguing with you because your argument is idiotic.

Why is this so hard to comprehend. The mob only has to think your there so it won't chase after you, as long as your OUT OF RANGE you will not get hit.

Because both are done server-side. If you're close enough to the mob for it to go "oh hey, I don't need to run anywhere", you're also close enough for it to go "oh hey, I can hit this player". If the mob thinks you're there so it won't chase after you, as far as it's concerned you're NOT out of range.

If the mob thinks you're there so it won't chase after you, as far as it's concerned you're NOT out of range.

But your not there, just tricking the server into thinking where your position is hence why its called a hack.

I don't know how he does it maybe he uses some completely different method who cares. Your just arguing semantics. (ie who cares how in the end how I killed your grandma the point is she's dead.)

Who cares how he does it, the point is I don't think its legit, you do so call him your hero and move on with your lives.

If the mob thinks you're in once place, that means the Server thinks you're there, thus the server says "Seiryu hits you for XXX damage" Because you are in range. There is a pogram that makes you look like you're somewhere you're not to other players, but the server still knows where you are. And what the server thinks always trums what your PC says, thus why mobs chasing you will hit you even if it seems like you have enough space between.

someone need to make a mule on that server and take sneak peak at his gear:evilsmile:

QFT.

Not a fan in the least. In fact, I'm pretty sure with the right preparation I could do this as well. I used to solo stuff on my SMN before I quit. Stuff people never attempted to do. With a little more time and preparation I probably would have been able to have fraps'ed stuff to show ya. Among some of my more noteworthy kills include Aquarius (not hard at all though), Narasihma, 4/6 avatars (the ones that don't heal ;/), SMN AF3 at level 60 (cause no one wanted to help), RDM AF3, WHM AF3, Attempted Ullikumi solo, got it to like 80% and messed up (bleh)... if I can think of others I'll list 'em. But I suppose I haxed to do that also, cause I mean come on... SMNs suck!

I also suppose my NIN solo'ing IT mobs faster than parties could kill said mobs was also hax?

"Great" players don't exist. They are merely well prepared and know how to manipulate every subtlety in the game. This includes things like cast delay, casting animations, gear changing etc. You can literally remove the time it takes to "cast" the spell (the point at which the spell goes off and you are frozen in place for a moment) by changing gear at just the right time. It will look like nothing happened, and you won't be stuck by the casting animation either. Did you also know that by rapidly changing a target on mobs (switch to another mob you are not in combat with, then back to the main target quickly) you remove your weapon's delay? I used to be able to use this glitch to swing a G.Axe at the same speed as a regular sword (dunno if they fixed this since though?).

Subtleties like this can give one player an advantage over another when trying to duplicate things like solo'ing a difficult mob. They aren't hax, rather mechanics of the game that are legal to exploit. Seriously, kid. L2P.

Wow. Just wow. So you *seriously* find it more plausible that he's doing something like this than just getting an unresisted Bind?

Ok then, I'm done here. My capacity to argue does not extend to the depths of the illogical, as yours does. Congratulations, you have bested me.

If you hear hoofbeats, you should probably think horsies, not zebras. Mmkay Mister Silly Bear? Because it's most likely the horse.

Since you don't even know Bind can build resistance on duration, and that's giving him the absolute benefit of the doubt he can stick it virtualy every time like we see in the vid, then why are you arguing about things you know absolutely nothing about?

You saying his Bind lasts that long everytime thus defying the laws of ffxi is more fantastic then me saying he's a hacker.

And you saying you're such an incredible RDM that you can contradict the facts everyone else is presenting regarding bind is even more fantastic of a claim.
You don't even understand how half the position systems work, what makes your "facts" about bind worth consideration?

I don't think it's possible for Vilurum to be wrong about ..... anything.

I watched that video. It didn't last that long *every* time.

And as for your claims of the laws of ffxi, and the whole "don't know it builds resistance" bit ... sweetie, you were disproven on that a few pages back. It doesn't build resistance.

If you want to convince me or anyone otherwise, try doing some *real* tests, not just a hand-wavy claim of "I kinda remember it being that way in a 40-cap mission BC".

Until then, I'll go with the opinion of the rest of the internet and continue believing as I've always done, that it doesn't build resistance and that you don't know what you're talking about on this point.

And as the rest of your argument hinges on that claim of yours, I'd suggest proving that claim, or else the rest of the argument is meaningless.

And you saying you're such an incredible RDM that you can contradict the facts everyone else is presenting regarding bind is even more fantastic of a claim.

Never said I was incredible and the debate was on how such a HACK could be done. That's statement was just a stretch even for you.

Not in those exact words. You are claiming "this is how resistance works", despite evidence, opinions, and everything else to the contrary, as if you have some knowledge that seems to defy everything everyone is relating.
The debate revolves around the fact that you don't believe Bind works that way, and therefore it must be a hack. Or something. I don't even know anymore, you've been a fucking moron making zero sense since your first fucking post.

And as the rest of your argument hinges on that claim of yours, I'd suggest proving that claim, or else the rest of the argument is meaningless.

Why would I bother? It's not like its the only time I ever used bind repeatedly in my 3 years of red maging. It was just an easy example. Any information I present to you would not be believed because you've already closed your mind. I have better things to do.

Never said I was incredible and the debate was on how such a HACK could be done. That's statement was just a stretch even for you.

Well the only need for a hack would be under your presumption that it was impossible to do it legitimately with Bind. Which follows from your claim that Bind builds up resistance.

Therefore, a much more sensible debate would not be "what is the nature of this supposed hack" but *first* "does Bind actually build up resistance?" Because if it doesn't, then it can be done legitimately and there's no need for a hack in the first place.

So, tests boy. Proof. Or at least someone else on the entire internet besides you, making this claim. Chop chop, we're waiting.
