For all you RDMs ...

Well, as I said, I can't prove it for reasons already mentioned.

Taking my word for it is as far as that can go. Whether you choose to do so or not is entirely up to you.
I think, if things happened the way you believe them to, this would have been far more widespread, with RMT using this tactic for damn near everything, maybe even other things depending on the scope of how far such a hack could affect things.
Again, I won't say this didn't happen. I will say it didn't happen the way you think it might have.

"Hey this guy is a counter-camper. I am the best NM camper so i will not lose!"
CC gets claim
"WHAT THE FUCK YOU HACKER!!!!!!!!!1111!"

Why make scorpions pop next to them? Why not Argus? If this was at all possible they could move claimed mobs away from other players and steal claims that way.

That's understandable. I do think RMT work for different gilselling companies, and I doubt those companies share exclusively-made tools. Just a possible explanation as to why it wouldn't be so widespread.

Because, for their intents and purposes at the time, they were in Kuftal Tunnel camping Phantom Worm, and were using the scorpions for TP. Argus pops all the way over in Shakrami. I don't go watching (specifically, those) RMT, so I don't know if they used it elsewhere.

Well in the case of kuftal, why not just do that to all the Amemet spawns?

Since I'm not RMT or was watching them at all times (was exping at the time), I can't answer that question because I don't know. They might have had other RMT elsewhere doing that. They probably need the target monster to spawn for the hack to work. Since I don't know the specific workings of such things, I don't know why they wouldn't have.

This really is just hte first time i've heard of such a hack being used. But assumedly if it existed, RMT would use it to steal any NM claims out there. It wouldn't be hard, in such cases to move claimed mobs far out of range, and then teleport to the mob they moved.

In all honesty it's a very farfetched concept.

And it was the only time I've ever seen it.

Once upon a time, I seem to remember a story of Vrtra somehow getting moved up to Spook's area (and, naturally, eating the local lowbies). I think, however, that whatever hack allowed this was rather quickly quashed after something of that magnitude happened.

Regardless, since someone's been kind enough to post a counterexample of Tom's happy Bind claim, it saves me the trouble of strolling out to do the exact same thing. So since everyone but him can probably agree at this point that:

- he doesn't know what he's talking about on this subject
- he refuses to admit when he's wrong, therefore arguing with him to try to accomplish this is futile

... shall we just drop it and move on to the inevitable cat picture derail?

Be careful! He may show a picture of his hot "sister" who works at hooters and pwn us all!

Only the straight boys and lesbians. The rest of us would be rather apathetic.

Monsters can be manipulated through hacks. Being controlled by the server doesn't stop it from being hacked. Pathfinding, especially, is just scripted AI. RMT have used a hack that changes a monster's position. I have seen RMT camping Phantom Worm pos-hacking scorpions to get their TP.

And that's no lie. Can't give you pics, since I deleted lots of stuff to clean up hard drive space. But I have no motive to lie; my intention isn't to defend Tomasello (I don't even know him).

And who really wants to take the time to formulate the one dominant strategy (taken from classical game theory, something you DON'T want in video/computer games), and then go implement it? A lot of people are saying he could have died so many times fighting the mob over and over until he got it right. On that supposition, it seems a bit strange he would get so many claims so easily. Where the hell is all the CC??? Getting the mob at the right time of the day? How opportune is that. Damn, don't you got something else to do.
No, that's not pos hacking scorpions.

If you have hate on a mob and pos warp somewhere, SE programmed it so that the mob teleports with you. They did that in order to prevent people from hovering over the ground to be out of harm and nuke things to death, after a few people had soloed NM's that way. A few people even attempted to kill Tiamat using the same strategy.

Seriously, how do you think Vrtra got up to the first floor?

As for the getting-things-from-any-treasurechest-hack. That required people to send the server a packet saying that thing dropped. The problem is that the item ID etc. have to be exactly the same as something (don't remember what). Its also highly noticable, and could easily get you banned.

As for them spawning yellow, you DO know scorpions aggro, right?

As I already stated, the RMT themselves did not move for even a second when the mob popped in front of them.

I'm glad we're on agreement that the server can be affected.

Uhhhhh... Damn, I don't know why people always aggro'd when they were IN RANGE.

Only in as much as moving your character "affects the server".
A lot of the coding for FFXI seems downright ridiculous, as it seems like for fishing, rather than telling the client "You got these items.", it asks the client "So, what'd ya get?" Again, the only thing that can be controlled is your character's current action.

Oh, trust me. You can easily get them there in less then a second. There were a hack a long time ago that let you see every mob's monster ID. There were also another hack that let you teleport to a mob's ID. I'm sure everyone remember the times when people used to teleport to Behemoth to claim it. Behemoth have the same mob ID every time he spawn, so simply insert his monster ID and you'll teleport to him every time.

You could also claim ihm rather easily, as your <t>'s are saved o nyour computer. So replace <t> with behmoth's monster ID and simply pressing your provoke <t> macro will provoke him automatically.

Either way, the entire zone have X, Y and Z axis. Simply open a hack that shows everys monster ID (which is sent to your computer, along with their pos. Wide Scan anyone?). Teleport there, and then teleport back to your original possition. Takes less then 0.1 of a second.

No, you didn't really affect the server in a reliable way. You'd have actually needed to have seen the item drop before, and intercept that package being sent. Then duplicate the package sent, and modify it to match w/e (don't remember exactly what, Chasym could explain better), and send it back to the server. if anything is wrong with the packet, or out of the ordinary, you'll surely get banned.

Not to mention you'd have had to send it at the exact right time. It also can't be done wit ha simple in-game macro, as you'd need to have a lot of other programs to do it.

I'm explaining a hack.

Is all your "blah blah blah" an argument to me? Since you know hacks so much, when you use that, should the mob already be attacking you when you return to where you want to be and it follows you? Cuz the mobs weren't already attacking when they popped. I'm asking cuz I'm open to what I saw actually worked another way. Cuz I don't know much about hacks.
