For all you RDMs ...

I say to you as I said to Tom ... if Bind resistance build-up is something that exists on all mobs in the game, it would be just as easily demonstrated on a level 1 bunny as on a god, and it would in fact be a *better* test to do it on the bunny, since that excludes a lot of other variables that might interfere (such as, as you mentioned, level difference or INT difference).

A mob does not have to be higher level than you or have higher stats than you, to build up resistance. If it's gonna build up resistance, it's gonna build up resistance. If it's not, it's not. Level and relative stats have nothing to do with it.

If you haven't done the Tuning Out quest, the bees for that build up sleep resistance, but they're quite wimpy compared to a level 75. Ditto for the tigers for the A Chocobo's Tale quest.

And then you can go trot off to, I dunno, Ru'Avitau. Pull a Decorative Weapon to the zone so you can cheerfully sit there sleeping it without magic aggroing Aura Butlers. Sleep it for a half hour or so. It will not build sleep resistance, despite being quite a bit stronger level- and stat-wise than those wimpy quest mobs.

It would therefore be a logical fallacy to do as Tom did, and go "I fought these tigers for a quest once, and they built sleep resistance, so I think everything in the game builds sleep resistance." And then compound the already incorrect conclusion by using it as the basis for another conclusion, as in "Since everything in the game builds sleep resistance, and I didn't see any sign of it here, the person must be hacking."

Finally, go on to not only be wrong, but to piss other people off with your stubborn illogical behavior, with "Any of you who try to argue that my conclusion is wrong - arguing that I'm wrong about the whole sleep resistance thing in the first place, and therefore my logic, following from it, falls to bits - well, you're just blind little fanboys and I'm still right. You little peons aren't worth my time to actually prove my baseless claims that you seem to think are incorrect."

Substitute "mammets in a mission" for "tigers for a quest" and "bind" for "sleep" and you basically have Tom's argument, and the blatant logical problems with it.

Yes, it's possible Avesta hacks. I don't personally think he does, but it's possible, and I said that way back in the single-digit page numbers of this thread. All my arguing here *since* then, is not to the tune of "Avesta doesn't hack" so much as "Tomasello can't make a logical argument that can stand up to scrutiny, and here's the following holes in it." The fact that the subject of the argument is Avesta, or hacking, is quite irrelevant to me.

And that's my final word on the subject. Tom can feel free to reply to this with yet another caustic comment that doesn't actually respond to the points I've been making about the holes in his logic (as he has done in the majority of his previous replies to me), but unless he actually goes and makes a *logical* argument (and actually backs up his claims), I'm not particularly interested in replying further.

I'm certainly not holding out for a "Ya know, I was wrong about the game mechanics in the first place and didn't know what I was talking about - thanks for the corrections and clarifications, guys. I do still think he hacks although I have no evidence to convince anyone of it, but I apologize for making such a big stink about what was only my opinion." While that would certainly be gratifying to see, and would in fact probably be the most mature way for him to bow out of this and salvage some of his reputation after making a fool of himself, I ain't holding my breath.
do same test but instead of bind do gravity. you will same results why? because nm have a high resistance rate then that of lvl 3-4 mobs and a way higher tolerance as well. The bunny test showed nothing. It a worthless test.

umm what this suppost to show? that he plays on ps2? in other news that intresting he dont have a tamas ring.

you don't need to be a US citizen to have an oppinion <.<; most countries allow you to have an oppinion

LoL this a bit farfetched but he could be planning to solo DM=)

What's more plausible, that he's "100x better than the second best" as you put it, or that other people just don't want to bother wasting so much effort on silly solo acts because they know that all it does is amount to some "e-peen +1", and, if they do do this stuff, they just don't go about posting vids of it in an attempt to make it "e-peen +2"? And seriously, "100x better than the rest"? You're putting him on a bigger, shinier pedestal than everyone else is by making such a big deal over what he's done.

P.S. I'm personally unimpressed by killing something via tossing DoTs/Binds. The only thing I could even clap my hands at regarding the matter is that he didn't go insane from repetition after the first hour.

Yay! On-the-same-page person! :partytime: I think this is the second time you posted something, it goes pretty much avoided, and then I quote on agreement.

You're missing my point.

Assuming Tom was right about CoP mammets building bind resistance, there's no logical way to conclude from that, that *Seiryu* builds bind resistance. His logic was "Mammets build bind resistance, therefore everything builds bind resistance. Assuming everything builds bind resistance, Seiryu (which is part of "everything") builds bind resistance."

While the logic in the second half of that *is* correct in and of itself, it's based on a faulty assumption from the conclusion of the first half, which is illogical. (It's the same illogic as saying "I see a guy with blond hair, therefore all men have blond hair.") And all it takes to disprove the first half - and therefore the second half, which depends on it - is to find a counterexample (continuing the example, "but there's a guy over there with brown hair"). A level 1 bunny is a counterexample.

If you'd like to limit the claim to "NMs", I don't imagine anyone would be terribly upset if Bubbly Bernie were occupied with Bind tests for a half hour.

I also, incidentally, demonstrated in that post you quoted that level and stats are irrelevant to built-up resistance, by citing a high-level, high-stats mob that doesn't build resistance and a low-level, low-stats *special situation* mob (read: "EXCEPTION TO THE RULE") that *does* build resistance.

Built-up resistance is always the exception, never the rule.

All NM's build a resistance to gravity. However, NM's before COP do not build a resistance to bind. Test some of this out on say Amikiri or Ungur versus something like Gration or Golden-Tongued Culberry.

How do you take text pics with PS2?

How do you take text pics with PS2?

u can hook up a capture card to a VCR and film it, like when people make montages on FPS such as Halo. Dunno if it can be done on Ps2, but i would imagine so, he couldve just take a screenshot of footage from his PC.

I heard of somethin like that, it always bug'd the hell outta me why it wasn't very clear compared to other videos.

How do you take text pics with PS2?

My PS3 runs through my TVO before going to the TV. I can just tell it to record the line input and copy it to my PC later.

Ah, had one of those for my old camcorder, shoulda put those together. It was like 8 years ago, and it totally sucked, guess they are a bit better now.
Yeah, it's pretty good. Cost like $9, the picture is nice too. There is an extremely minor delay, about one frame worth, if you actually try to play off it since it scales and filters the image before output. Comes with an app for viewing/recording too, Any S-Video or composite device works with it, good stuff.

The screenshot has the symbol for the "triangle" PS2 button in the right menu. I kinda doubt that appears in the PC version (it's certainly not in the NA PC version).

So, what happened with this "debate"? The flame died out. : (
