Hi. I quit the game for over a year and came back several months ago for casual soloing. Now, I have a lot of time again, so I'm back to pretty much my usual amount of ffxi I had before I quit. I already have a 75 bst, but I forgot something and I just have a simple question. A one line answer is fine.

Does meriting sword accuracy increase the accuracy of physical spells? I thought it did, but the few people I have mentioned that too were surprised and doubtful, so now I'm starting to doubt what I thought I knew.

If anyone can resolve that, I'll be very grateful. Won't really matter either way as I'm already on my sixth sword merit, but I'd just like to know so I don't spread misinformation.

Your weapons ACC is your spells ACC for the most part. Try casting physical spells with an under leveled weapon next time.

Yes, meriting sword would increase your physical spell accuracy. Think of them as weapon skills that cost MP instead of TP. The "attack" for them is based off of blue magic skill though. Imho, sword should be the first thing every BLU caps, not only for physical spell accuracy, but also for dot in between casts, as well as WS dmg.

Cool. That's what I was thinking, but I was starting to doubt myself. Makes sense. Thanks for the answers.

The bolded only applies to Magical Blue Magic or so I thought.

Blue Magic Skill

* Blue Magic Skill is the skill base from which Blue Magic derives. It is most importantly relational to the resistance rate of all Magical Blue Magic Spells. In short, Blue Magic Skill is the largest factor which determines if a Magical Blue Magic Spell is resisted or not.
* Physical Blue Magic Spells 'failing to take effect' means you missed completely, based on your accuracy not blue magic skill.
* Blue Magic Skill also factors into other blue magic, boosting their effectiveness (e.g. restoratives such as Magic Fruit will cure for more HP.)

For accuracy, yes. However, testing has shown that physical spells sort of treat blue magic skill the same way weapon skills treat attack. Otherwise, the AF body would not be nearly as good to cast in, even the +1 (Morrigan's Robe has +8STR, and Enkidu's Harness has +10STR).
