Formal request to have Roofie banned from this site.

Wow Roofie, you know it all. Everything people hold against you is some valid singled out point that you just stored away in that genius brain of yours, isn't it? Sorry man, but hearing a dumbass call something else stupid isn't very valid. No one is "just mad cuz that one time I..." You're just a prick. Plain and simple. People just don't like you because of how you hold such low regard in the way you carry yourself, and the way you address others. It's sad. Really, I feel sorry for you. I've never seen someone stoop so low as to make some of the comments you have, and walk away with a clean conscience.

Well, you kinda need a conscience in the first place to have it get dirty, so I'm not suprised Roofie can do it.
 
I don't see what this has to do with freedom of speech.

We have freedom of speechin America, and it is still not acceptable (or tolerated) to shout obscenities and publicly denounce someone's religeon or race. Infact, it is ILLEGAL to do so.

I was going to stay out of this one, but now that I've read the whole thread I feel the need to comment.

Everyone is adding reasons why he needs to be banned: he's annoying, he has bad grammar etc. The only reason that warrants a ban IMO is the comments like the ones he made on the Vang thread yesterday.

If we're going to ban people because of bad grammar or being annoying then a lot more people besides Roofie would be banned. /em bites her tongue and fights the urge to name names.

I am not however going to say how I feel about the ban one way or another. I think that is up to Pupusa to decide.
 
I signed the petition because the boards are no place for race, religion or politics.

Whether you're gay, straight, of a different cultural background, caucasion (sp?) African American, Chinese, Spanish, German, Japanese, Asian, American Indian, yada yada should not be brought to the boards, let alone flamed.

I cannot stand people who judge others because of their sexual origin, race, or what they believe in, be it God, Jehovah, Budah, or the sciences.

Bottom line is, this is a board to discuss FFXI and then we have off topic subjects about other stuff if you so choose. BUT, it specifically states not to discuss these types of issues.

Matter of fact, when the election was goin' on Sculli made 1 thread to discuss the election. He told us that was the only thread to discuss it and if we discussed it anywhere the posts would be deleted, if I remember correctly.
 
I honestly don't care if he's banned or not to tell you the truth.

However, 10+ pages in this thread of people who want him gone should tell you it's a bit more than bad grammer and being annoying.

The kid is a pig, plain and simple.

As much as I deplore the behavior that goes on the flameboards. My comment on the whole thing is similar to how I treat movies or tv shows that I don't like, I simply don't support them by not watching. Roofie has the right to say whatever he wants, and everyone has the right to condemn him for it. But to ban? Just tune him out. Freedom of speech was designed to protect the minority and the unpopular. Sure I don't approve of what a lot of people that flame here, and I show that by tuning them out. I know I am going to get flamed for this. Flame away.
 
people have expressed your opinion previously and more than once. nobody should flame you for this, it's your personal opinion on how the rules should be followed and interpretted. and thank you, all of you devil's advocates out there, there should always be someone to argue the other POV
 
this is not a flame, mearly a response. the freedom to express opinions is something that is very dear to many of us... but one must take into consideration that hateful remarks towards other people based on race, religion, sexual preferance or gender are no longer tolerated in most societies.

I suppose a better solution might have been to ask Roofie to keep his bigoted comments to himself first, and then request a ban if he failed to do so... but i hardly think that asking him to refrain from cursing non-stop and from at least expressing how hateful he is is unreasonable. People have the freedom to do just about anything, as long as it doesn't harm another person. Comments such as he made in the "Vang is a Liar" post cannot be ignored... and for many people it was these comments that initiated their support for this motion. If it were not for the offensive material in that thread, i would have gladly simply tunned him out as you suggest. However there is a line that once crossed cannot be ignored, and he indeed crossed it (imo at least).

"Freedom of speech" is an overstatment

Words can hurt, words can kill. Politics run our country, which is mostly based on how we view ourleades, based on how they not only act but what they say. Our president starts talking, and only talking, about bringing back the black opression, he will get impeached. Or will not be reelected given a choice. Language is the basis of civliziation. (sp? lol)

Freedom of Speech was designed so the minority can have a say, so it's not only the strong words that get through. He can say what he wants. He is. Now it's something different then saying you don't like how king richard rules, and the king cuts off your head because he says you have to love him or die, even if you just meant he could improve a bit to make life better for all. Or to protest against war, none of these make you a bad person or anything.

But when you threaten someone, that's not freedom of speech. When you do what he did, that's not freedom of speech. That's racism. That's hate. I could go and call some black guy at my work nigger, and blackie, make slave references. I bet as hell I will get fired. Fredom of speech my ass. Who knows, maybe he will be so -HURT- by my words he'll bring a gun the next day and kill me.

Roofie might have hatred to the japanese, that's nice. He can say that all he wants. That doesn't mean he has any right to insult someone so personally. He was showing more then saying, showing his hate just because of nationality to a person he does not even know. I think he should be banned on a large manner of pretextes, according to other members but mostly for this. I really do hate it when people think words are just so words. God damnit it people look! This gay war with Iraq is because of some words, people died at the word of our president, becuase weapons of mass descruction as SAID to be there. All through history people have fought over ideals, religion (oooo yeah), killed each other because of a few damn words. My god, your god, who gives a damn in the end we will see. Words are so important in our lives.. it's hard not to give them any substence. Communication is very powerful. Very.

So, just ban Roofie, bring a simple clean end to it all. Ban exists for a reason, if not for something like this what point is there? People get banned for useless spamming in almost every board I have been to.... Same posts over and over... well this is worse imo. And it's the same thing over and over.
 
I don't really care if he's banned or not...the racism and stuff is annoying to hell, but, in rare cases, he does make some very good points.. (referring to the thf/whm-style farming, for instance)..
