Hello everyone! I haven't played on the Quetzy server since the initial release of FFXI in America. I was only on the server for about a year or so and was known as "CC" (My Tarutaru's name was Magicc). I highly doubt there are still players floating around that remember me but it doesn't hurt to throw the name out. :P

I have been playing FFXI on and off again for 3 years and have about a year under my belt from release. I'm also a plant admin for Shamrock Fluid Plant and an on again off again college student. Thanks to recent business loss I'm finding myself with a bit more time on my hands. This time has shown me the slower side of Carby, the side that can't seem to get things done... I don't like to sit idle long in the game and farming can only entertain one for so long.

Anyway, I found this forum while I was trying to look up server information. I just came back to the Carby server after about 2 months off the game. When I returned I found my social/event shell was gone and all of my friends were no where to be found. I have been back now for a little over 2 weeks and have seen all of 5 of my friends back on and even then they were not around long (3 of them even jumped servers). My post here will be two fold, one I wanted to express my interest in a server transfer (as I do miss my old home at times) and two I would like to get a feel for what the community is like.

What I mean by this is: How active is the server during the daytime/evening hours in America?

Right now I'm having a horrible time trying to get any leveling accomplished on any of my alts jobs from lvl 14 to 63. I'm seeing nothing but Japanese parties going up w/o invites for the English players. I'm also getting shot down trying to invite Japanese people over to parties. This is starting to become really frustrating to me and I would like to know if these problems persist across servers. I'm also interested in knowing how driven the community is when it comes to completing missions. It took me the better part of 2 years to get rank 6 Bastok and almost 3 years to get sky access.

Is there a small or large population of people willing to have JP/E parties on the server or is it segregated like it is here for the most part? Do you have a relativity active lower lvl base as well as higher lvl base population or people willing to sync down to the lower lvls? What time frame would you say the server peaks in activity?

I'm sorry this was more of an ask 100 questions rather than an introduction post. I would like to make an educated decision here since it's going to cost me an extra 25 bucks next pay cycle if/when I make the leap. Leaning on more of a "when" since this server seems to be so inactive now. Hardly even see Nyzul groups going anymore. :(

Thanks in advance,

Masane~

Quetzy is a great server imo. Since the server merger i see quite a few shouts for leveling parties and events. Any events you can't find a shout for you can usually post up in event scheduling on here and find members.

I've had no problems getting invites from JP players or having them join my parties. Most JP i've been in parties with don't seem to mind NA players.

As for peak hours, i would say 7pm EST is when the shouts start to really ramp up for things if you want to go by that. My play schedule is very erratic lately so it may have changed a touch since the merger.

I myself am a server transfer, i originally came from shiva since after so long away my old shell had broken and i had zero friends left on that server. Even with all the drama, etc. you find in some of the elite shells i don't find this server particularly troublesome. The flameboard is always good for a chuckle and is a great resource in what shells/ people you may want to avoid (or seek if you're that type of player). Just my opinion on this server, don't know how many share the same views as me but if you're looking for some random events to jump right into, you're best bet if you transfer is find a decent sized social, make some friends, have a blast, and hopefully you'll enjoy your time here.

Thanks for the answers, I've been trying to give Carby another chance... So far it's still horrible for anything under lvl 60. :<

i personally can attest that if you sit in whitegate long enough you'll here shouts for the most random adventures, parties also!
