I believe I was just "hacked"... Not in the traditional "hay here iz mai password", but in the packet sniffing, port humping way that script kiddies are o' so good at. I try to log on tonight to check to see what friends are on, and blammo "Incorrect PlayOnline ID or password". I'm awestruck at this phenomenon and the sheer mind blowing ingenuity put behind doing something like this.

I stand here before you a broken man at 4:31 in the morning fighting back fatigue and tears all at once as I slowly watch 4 years down the drain. The only thing I can think of doing is calling pol tomorrow morning and ask them to change my password. Sad thing is... I don't think I have my CD keys for any of my expansions besides ToAU.

caps lock maybe? and for what its worth, neither of your characters is on right now...oh, and i think you just need your credit card info. still shitty tho.

A lot of people have been hacked lately without giving out their passwords through Friendlist+, but that's supposed to be fixed...

Did you request a password change and never bothering to change the password after that?
 
When you dont have your reg keys and not lucky with the POL support person you can be fucked...
It took me so much efford to close the account my ex and me shared in the past, although I was the account holder. I told them what kind of person he is and gave the phone number that was registered on the account and they helped me.
I hope you can get your password resetted and I hope you didnt lose too much items :(

My account was hacked last night as well. Sadder part, this is the second time within a month so... I think I'm done. Going to try and contact PoL and just cancel my account since this shit can keep happening over and over and I can never get ahead. Been fun Quetzalcoatl, take care.

Exo had the same problem a few months ago. I thought for sure he'd been hacked...but after he called PoL and got the PW changed, his character was fully in-tact with nothing missing.

Hope you have the same kind of good luck.

Same deal with me. Nobody has my info but me, and here I sit in the queue on POL support chat. Why someone would want to hack a nickle-and-dimer like me is beyond me.

Sho nuff, good luck getting as lucky as i did, I really dont know how it happened and how I didnt get shit stolen. If you guys figure out what happened keep us posted.

Hahaha, I've checked my email 5 times now. What is going on with this stupid company.

Did they maybe mean POL email? How do you check POL email without logging into POL? lol

Please be aware that your new password must meet the above requirements. Changing your PlayOnline password can be performed through the "Service & Support" screen which can be accessed from the PlayOnline Menu. Choose "Membership," select "PlayOnline ID," and then select "Change Password."

In the near future, these password requirements will be added to the PlayOnline Viewer as well. Please be sure to update your PlayOnline password as soon as possible if it does not meet the above stated requirements.

Found this little gem in the maintenance notes. Fantastic being that my passwords were the same as my ID, and that they were set by POL themselves. This day fails.

Good thing I Read that shit word for word lol.
 
Classic example of why it always pays to read everything that SE posts. I reset my own password on general principle occasionally, and I reset Reya's after they posted the required password changes.
