Has anyone looked into this Lucas Arts game? it looks to be a real Halo killer. Releasing on PS3 and 360 in Summer 08. Terrain deformation looks fun, and adds a lot to online play if you ask me, tons of strategy with it. Take a look at the trailer on its website here.

By terrain deformation.. do you mean like Red Faction?:P

halo killer? not.. the game is not impressive in motion. but hey if alot of people stopped labeling games halo killer maybe they would stop flopping. there are far too many other games coming soon that put up game of the year quality. which i am assuming people mean when they say halo killer. this looks slightly interesting but its still far off i believe?

The be defined as a "Halo Killer" would mean to be, quite frankly, the easiest FPS game available to man in thus attracting a following because even the FPSdumb can preform well. I have higher hopes for this game than that. Also, Ele, no... not like Red Faction, watch the video :)

I did :P finally, it looks pretty cool :D

And ya, Halo wasn't really that hard, the story was amusing :P this game does seem a bit slow control-wise so far but it is still in development. Things can be improved upon by next summer, I'm sure XD (then again.. it's lucasarts.. and for the most part, Lucasarts fails to impress me)

I'm sure controls are a little slower now than they will be at release, but also you hafta remember that most demos are set on low sensitivity so that the player can get used to the controls and play style.

I think that I was a bit rash in saying that it was a "Halo Killer" but I mean the popularity of Halo will start to lessen with many games like this coming to the table with amazing multiplayer. Halo is the WoW of FPS, popular because of casual nature. Ridiculous aim assist made me skip over Halo 2's online features and just ran the story once. Halo 1 was actually *harder* than 2, and I expect the trend to continue in 3...

Halo on Legendary mode is easy.

Halo 2 on Legendary is really challenging. A friend and i actually finished it, and we think the 1st stage is the hardest. Took us over a week to finish the game, and most of the time we had to leave the XboX on when not playing just to avoid having to start from save points.

Few times i tried to solo Halo 2 on Legendary and i can never do it. I pile up as many weapons as i can and i still run out of ammo.

EDIT: nearly forgot to comment on Fracture.

I don't think it'll be compared to Halo.

Well so far the trailers hints at you that the only thing special is the grenades which alter terrain.. So fun? lol. Maybe closer to release we know more.

More than we can say for the other FPS out there that just bring us new maps and guns. F.E.A.R. brought us SlowMo, Unreal brought us uber jumping, Halo brought us a non cheating aim assistance in multiplayer, and Shadowrun brought us magic into a FPS multiplayer. Terrain alterations hasn't been done yet. My hope is that it's like Unreal Championship 2 in terms of being a third person shooter with a FPS option/feel. Though, it doesn't look as fast paced :/

Tailer aside and considering all otehr information released on the game, it seems the terrain changes are to be a big deal. That seems to be their "gimmick". I just hope they don't loose sight and do the rest of the game right.

Your last paragraph is my whole feeling towards this game;; Gimmick and Losing sight of other gameplay. Realy it has moments in the trailer were it looks cool, then bam... it looks trash.. I will still keep up on it tho. Thanks for bringing the game up.

Well.. Red Faction had Terrain Alteration :P in a way.. granted it was more of a "BLOW A WALL APART! LAWL!" kinda thing and nothing compared to this.. but ya :P Halo really didn't bring anything new to the FPS world. Face it.

Fracture gives me the feeling of a game that if you get good at it, there's always some way to survive. I like games that keep in in a state of constant danger and need to keep solving a problem or else I get wiped out.

You could blow away walls, floors, pillars, etc. Also, qft on Halo. Halo was just FPS#3242233 to me.

Now, that doesn't deny it's fun to play through (at least once) and one of those games you could get tons together to play rather quickly :P (prolly because it wasn't really hard or any new concepts to get used to). It has its ups, so whoever is reading this and upset people are saying Halo is nothing special doesn't mean it wasn't fun, just that it didn't bring anything new to FPS (which, really, tons of FPS don't do XD).

Anyways.. I've been up all night. Time for my Vampirey self to go sleep.

i dunno, looks like shadowrun with land changing magics in place of whats there now. even the motto is close to the same, "the battlefield will be changed forever" compared to "the rules of combat have changed".
Looks decent and fun, but nothings really going to top halo for long long time if ever. if you like it or not, it is the top shooter. and after playing halo 3 beta, i know where much of my time will be spent.
ill probly check this out on release.

All game taglines are the same. "The rules of combat have changed" is just a crappy way of saying "Combat evolved."

The "let's use rockets and make a bunch of tunnels" aspect of Red Faction was my favorite part.

Halo brought this to shooters lol...
Halo CE 5,000,000+ Sold
Halo2 7,000,000+ Sold
And here are the scary numbers...
June 20, 2006 More then 500,000,000 Online matches played. More then 710,000,000 Hours. By May 12, 2007 the number of online matches had hit 5,000,000,000... Dude thats just rediculous and cant be denied lol. Halo brought interest into shooters, which is why the market for them is flooded now.. Hey i love other shooters and some are better then halo imo. But these numbers are just sick lol.
