Ok so, my friend played a looong time ago, and now he wants to pick it back up since he's got some spare time/cash finally. But heres the deal. He didnt get very far to begin with... maybe like lv 20ish? maybe 30. anyways. now for rebooting...

Its been way more than three months, and he doesnt have access to the save credit card as he had before. So the main problem isnt restarting with the same character, but restarting with the same software.

Would he have to go buy a new copy plus all the expansions? cuz that would be preeeety lame.

He said he has talked to some PoL dudes, but he needs the credit card... which he, once again, doesnt have access to.

Any suggestions? ways around this? or is he gunna have to suck it up? =\

If he just got to lvl 20~30 he's better off starting again. He can get to that same lvl range in a few days. He's got you too (PL PLD). ^^

EDIT: If he has access to his user name/password he could go change the Credit Card info and put a Debit card if he doesn't have a CC. He can still use the same software if he's using the same Console/PC he started with.

lol the problem isnt starting over again. its the question of re-registering.

what i mean is does he have to buy a whole new copy of the game? lol and i have a lvl 23 whm i can pl him with :OOOO
 
He should be able to start over no problem as long as he has all his keys and passwords. When I started this game I was on another server and on a friend's CC. I quit for more than three months, back then it used to be 3 months and your char was gone, now its like a year. Anyway I started over on this server with a new char, and used my own credit card and it worked fine. No probs at all.

He doesn't have to re-register or buy a new copy (he would still have to buy Promathia and Aht Urghan if he didn't get them).
 
POL is rather bitchy about this kind of thing. If you have the original POL codes(from the booklet), they MIGHT reset the password to allow you access to the account to create a new character. Any available info about the CC would help also, even just the type.
In the worst case, they are coming out with a new DVD soon, that will allow you to purchase the original game and all three expansions for i think $30. Not that bad considering each expansion came out at $30 originally.

but hell, even if he doesnt get it to work, he'll have to get the expansions... maybe it'll be best to wait till that comes out? any date set for that to come out? first i'd heard of it. and im assuming its for comp. heh.

Complete collection for $30? Count that he wouldn't get the 30-day free-trial if he used his old info, and that's down to like only $16-17 more. I doubt you could get the expansions alone for that... Sounds like a much better deal to me.
