Even though it happened about a month and a half ago, I only heard about it yesterday. Funny thing, Shawn mustve called me only a few days before that happened to come up in march for their harvest lol
Cash bonds set for men arrested in Bryant drug sting
Jan. 17, 2009
Cash bonds of $2,500 each were set Friday for two of the four men arrested on drug charges at a Bryant area home earlier this week.
The accused, Shawn M. Janet, 29, and Nicholas Verble, 26, both of W7153 Price Polar Road, stand accused of four criminal counts — the manufacture or delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
Two of the counts are felonies and together, carry a possible prison term of up to 13 1/2 years, $35,000 in fines or both.
The pair, along with two co-defendants, were taken into custody Thursday night when the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant based on information of possible illegal activity.
A 29-year old Antigo man, who had apparently been visiting the residence, along with a fourth man who happened to drive up in his car while the search was being conducted, were also arrested.
The latter, Mathew S. Krause, 27, of 317 Field St. allegedly had marijuana in his pocket and he is being charged with possession of marijuana as a second or subsequent offense, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia. He was ordered held on a $200 cash bond.
A criminal complaint had not yet been drawn for the last man and he was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond. District Attorney Ralph Uttke said he expects to charge him with possession of marijuana as a repeat offender.
According to court documents, 50 marijuana plants — all in various stages of growth — were seized from the home. A supply of already dried and processed marijuana was also seized including various items to grow the plants including potting soil, grow lights, electric timers, fans and hydroponic growing boxes. Rolling papers and marijuana pipes were also among the mix.
A criminal complaint detailing the charges indicates that Janet and Verble had moved to Wisconsin from the Chicago area in August, first residing in the Mattoon area and then to Langlade County two to three months ago.
Janet told officials that he and Verble had been growing marijuana in the home, purchasing a few “clone” plants at a music festival in Missouri and their supplies in Chicago. Their instructions came from the Internet and according to the complaint, they “sold very little and were growing the pot for them to smoke so they didn’t have to buy it.”
