i have one for u guys i was in the dunes leveling my smn and i had a mnk war drg and whm blk all and all i thought i had a good party. we were at level 15-16 at the time so i told everyone to gather at the out post. witch we all did i had the puller chainin us some goblins. we were getting anywhere from 120 to 250<on a good chain>. me and the drg hit 17 at the same time we were also the highest in the pt. our xp droped down a little as it always dose when people level fighting the same mobs. the magnificent rank 9 <high level> war had an idea for us to go fight pugs. I knew it was a bad idea every one needs to be at least 16 to minimize casulties. so i stated my point that this was a bad idea especialy since our tank was 15. the whm was the only one who agreed with me. need less to say we were out voted. here we are pulin a pug after i segested maybe building up some tp on a crab first and bust out with a sc on the pug. the magnificant <high level> rank 9 war told me i need to stop worring. so he comes the pug we start fighting i m helping the whm try to keep our <high level> magnificant rank 9 war alive lol were spamin cures and all that good stuff and here comes a screw driver and then another one and there lies our high level magnificant rank 9 tank dead. i tell the pt to zone some do some don t <the dunes> we get every back up and stuff and our tank is hot he s all mad saying that we didn t cure em on purpose and shit. He went off for like 10 mins of how great of a high level magnificant player he is and this shouldn t of happened. the whole time i m looking for his replacemnet that while he dosen t know he s about to booted. my whm lost it lol he says "hey dumb ass lets do some math srewdrive 153 +screwdriver 146 =199 your hp 202 at full. my cure two 90 + naraku s cure 30 = 120" so needless to say he was able to see what we were geting at but it was to late he replacement showed up. lol I felt like an asshole at first for booting him but for some reason i feel better about myself for doing it. He was the first person I ve ever booted from a party. i wonder why some people that may have a high level char\ with high rank and the hole nine yards think they can play with out common sense. If he were to even take a sec to scoll back and see what happened he would of realized what happened i mean come on every thing down to <name> readies <ws> is logged. Just maybe all that stuff is logged for a simple reason so one can go back and review. I ve decided to keep the name of the individual anonous. Not so much that i care if anyone knows. It s more so I see this <such occurances> happening alot more.

It happens....You reach high level and start become overly-critical of others because you feel you've been there and done that enough times you know best. I've died a few times because I was over-confident about my ability to defeat some pretty tough mobs solo. Just write it off as a bad day, I'm sure he feels differently now that time has passed.

This is just another case of the fact that LEVEL AND RANK DON'T MEAN SH*T! I know Narakku, he's a good player since he started. What's this uber rank 9 tank's name, so we can all be sure to be wary of him. Not hate him or anything, just so we know who to look out for.

Sounds to me like 4 of the party members decided pugils would be ok. For a galka or elvaan with defense food and kingdom gear I can actually see that working out, if the party is good enough to compensate and can kill the monster quickly enough.

I see a lot of antagonism towards high rank players. Note you as a party voted and he was only 1 of the 4 who wanted to do pugils, yet you push the brunt of the blame onto him. I daresay you've been waiting, watching wideeyed for a high rank to make a mistake so you could make this flame and vent.

lol, I had the same thing happen to me in a pty that I was in.....in the dunes.....I was lvl'ing my SMN... XDDDDD

They thought they could take pugs cause of the awesome amount of DD they had in the pty. Well.......all they did was give the mob more TP then it knew to do with. So.....the damn thing used Screwdriver one after the other, droping each pty member.

Its sad that ppl get so desperate to see big numbers. Big numbers in your dmg but your DoT is crap.....so you suck. Big numbers in exp.....you want it so bad that your willing to have a crap load of downtime. In reality, you would have made twice as much exp by chaining Ts and only getting around 70exp a mob. I think alot of ppl just dont like to take the time to think.....they just like the "Ooooh....big numbers...so preeety", when they should have used to the time to actually use their brain and think about exp over time.

So you are saying a lvl 15 Rank 9 Warrior thought he could tank Pugils?

I would have just said, "Well, I suppose you are gonna try to tank em without me then, cause I know for a Fact that you can't do it."

I've tried that gig as a lvl 16 pld wearing 400k in gear. It doesn't work.

The shit always happens at Satan dunes. Once I got to 17 yesterday for warrior I got the hell out and switched to Ninja so I can go back to Qufim Island. It seems that I'm not the only one who had a bad day yesterday in FFXI. I had a emotional fight that sucked ass. I don't wanna talk about either... >.>

Can't even do it with a pl, either, because I've done that too. It one-shotted me as a PLD.

But I like big numbers! Don't they just impress everyone when you hit for like 300 damage and steal big hate then die? Actually, DoT weapons and instant big damage weapons have their own advantages. One advantage to bigger weapons is that you swing less, but still deal decent damage, so if a monster has Spikes, you don't get hit by the spikes as much. Plus, WS's do overall more damage, even if you use them less.

Just because your rank 9 high lvl doesnt mean they cant make mistakes also.

I found that the easiest way out of the dunes is to just grind out T-VT mobs with relative safety and quick kills. I don't mind getting 100-120 a kill if they die faster then the 150-200 but dangerous and long fights.

Yeah, but when you're rank 9 and you think you're God on Earth, THEN you screw up, it's stupid. You can't go around saying you're the freaking king of the world then screw up. Just don't say that, and if you screw up, you screw up. Don't call other people noobs then be one yourself.

The reason she is putting the brunt of the blame on him is because he's the one who suggested pugs in the first place. If he hadn't well, whoever did suggest it would get the brunt of the blame.

Try not to shoot yourself in the foot with a double standard pal. You're a high level too so you feel biased to protect the rank 9 n00b who got screwed up big time.

Pugs are overpowered for their level because of two things: Screwdriver and DEF Up.

I agree with the fact that VT exp is best in dunes. IT pugs are just too difficult for the level and mp involved. VT exp has netted me about ~10k/hr (with a pld pl) before, and with me as tank and puller, with almost no downtime.

I think that rank 9 tank was looking for the big numbers (lol). It's easy to want the big numbers, simply because of mid-game exp. Once that rank 9 person reaches sky, he'll be disappointed that there's only high VT or low IT exp there.

fast kills are much easier and nicer than slow IT kills any day. It's much easier to get into a rythm, and much more fun (because you're not getting worked up about little details).

IT mobs are okay if they have JAs like Berserk (on dhalmels in bibiki for example). ~15k/hr there, and easy as hell. (and i was main healer as rdm :D)

Not many mobs are like that though... if you try to exp off IT spiders in Boyadha Tree, you'll get one-shotted more than once. VT exp is the way to go there.
