Well you could always get a *cough* torrent *cough* but im not gonna give away any links so dont be askin me.

if you do download from a torrent, almost all the time you will need 2 extra things to play.

#1 Virtual Disc Drive

#2 No-CD ISO's

idk if youll need either of these to install and play it, I dont remember if I did when I downloaded it... I think I DID use Daemon, but not the ISO's...

Another thing, on some computers, the game will freeze, (at key points in the game, like the first chocobo race) and you cannot get past it unless you download a certain patch for it... But just play until you get trouble, should be fine

Power ISO mounts the ISO much better if your using Vista than Daemon too, at least in my experience. If you get the torrent it should be the .iso in which case you just mount the image and play to your hearts content.

It's not a patch, the downloads were actually staff-created save files that were at the next available save point... lol.

Seriously.

ok i downloaded the game i guess and that daemon tool deal and i cant get it to work my computer skills suck so i may need some help i anyone knows what i am doing wrong please help me

Another thing I noticed that I had to do was extract the FULL contents of all the ISO's (using Daemon) and put them into C://, and change the name of C:// to ffviidisc or something... Theres a guide somewhere, but Im not able to link it

god i suck at computers, i have been trying for a month to get ffvii to work on my pc and i cant i feel today is the day

Even discussing the methods to use an illegal copy of a game is against the rules here if I recall correctly, I'd suggest locking this topic before it goes much further.

If you want a link to an iso that doesnt require daemon tools and crap...send me a PM

It was a patch, because I downloaded it, used it, and played the chocobo race I wasnt able to previously play.

Look near the bottom at the FFVII section

That's an unofficial patch, bro.

The official 'stuck points' of the game were

1. At the observatory, when Bugenhagen shows the effects of the Mako reactors and demonstrates Meteor - the camera pans out of the FMV sequence and Barret is supposed to say something, but no dialogue happens. You're free to walk around but there are no hotspots in the room so you get stuck.

2. During the WEAPON release scene after the Whirlwind maze, when Ultimate WEAPON screams, the game crashes.

Both of those points had official downloadable save files created by EIDOS to "get past" those points. They apparently manifested 100% randomly on various PCs for no reason other than they just felt like occurring... and while I actually found a workaround for the observatory, there was nothing that could be done about the WEAPON one because that was kinda during an FMV sequence and could not be affected by anything.

The first rule of fight club is....

tee-hee.

If you wind up with a copy of the game that includes the hax... just don't.

Just like with the gameshark codes having sephiroth or a choco in your party is super-keen for a minute but it will completely bend your save file and/or game over and ram it home with no lube. <.<

I don't think he ever said it was official, and why would you not use that one when it allows you to play the whole game rather than skipping points? Just admit you didn't know something rather than looking like an ass. It's a lot easier to do.

On this note, does anyone know where i could get FFVIII on PC. On PS2 my game lags like a bastard.

I played FF8 for PC, it's certainly available in all of its 640x480 glory. Could probably find it used at EB Games for $10.

This thread teetered on the edge of legality, Janullrich if you need further assistance please PM one of the people who offered here.
