Just got out from a very amazing night with my four best friends in the world. First we went to a concert for one of our favored bands, Gaelic Storm. You may or may not recognize the name, but most everyone has at least heard them play. They are the very same band that played in the Irish steerage party during the movie Titanic. The concert was in Wallingford, CT.

They are known also for going out for a drink in a local pub whenever they play somewhere, they usually mention where they'll be going but that's about it. My friends and I got *invited* by them to join them for a round. Basically the lead singer, Patrick Murphy, said it like this. They were playing the song they played in Titanic, as it's one of their staples. Patrick said his hand was getting tired from the fast playing and he wasn't keeping up. Apparently he looked up into the crowd and saw my friends and I giving a standing ovation (the only people doing so at the time) and felt rejuvenated. He made a comment about it after the song, but I figured it was just because we were the only jackasses standing.

Turns out later, when we were getting autographs, that he recognizes our group. So we get to talking and he tells us that he really would like us to come with them out for drinks. So we head out and meet them at this nice pub in the same town called "The Old Dublin". Great Irish brews on tap. Great people. And we got to hang out with the band that we've been listening to for several years now.

They're all really great guys (and the one gal they've picked up to replace their violinist who had to pursue family life). Now I know they're not huge celebs or whatever, but I'm in awe of their ability to sit down and have a drink with their fans and actually have a conversation instead of stroking an ego, or acting like we owe them something. Patrick really was great to talk to, our conversations ranged from the true stories behind their songs to hiking the Appalachian trail, which my friends are doing next year (full GA to ME trail).

Anyway, enough yammering on, here's some pictures of the night.

Nice brotha, makes me think of the time I went to Ozzfest and the band Motograter walked off stage after their set and 2 members painted my face with their bare hands lol. Always cool to meet bands that are truly down for their fans, rate up for an epic night.
