GAH!!! Sorry, but I need to vent . . .

So it's darksday, 23:00. I'm standing on top of a chest in Ordelles, key in hand, waiting for the clock to turn so I can get my 3rd RSE piece. Little taru runs up. I send a tell: "Please don't open the chest, my RSE is in 5 minutes". What does he do? Naturally- he opens the chest. AARGH!

I send another tell- "Why did you open the chest? Now it'll be an hour before I can get RSE" Response: "[I don't speak any english]". Crap.

I tried to cobble together a response telling him why I was upset in multi-lingual chat, but that thing SUCKS. They have no way of saying "female" "Race Specific Equipment" or even "chest", WTH? The closest I could come up with was "[Elvaan] RSE [quest] X :'(" to tell him he'd screwed me. So I guess this is both a complaint about that taru- who should've at least thought "hmmm . . . almost the next week, and an elvaan is standing here, maybe it's RSE time?" and the designers of the game, who've made it impossible to talk with the Japanese players even about basic game activities.

Yeah, the translator sure is fine with certain terms, but there are times when it just doesn't help. That {I don't speak English} trick is used far too often, I don't believe it half the time.

I know someone else was venting because when they were mining a Japanese player would keep following him and mining the same points he was. The translator had nothing for him to tell the person to stop, he finally got fed up and logged out.

I would blame SE for the RSE quest though, the whole, one week belongs to one race/sex thing is lame, but it is pretty good equipment from what I see. I should do mine sometime soon...

yea, i prolly wouldnt have believed him. One time in shakrami maze i sent a tell to a whm asking for a raise and got the (I dont speak any English) translator, so i reply..."Reizu sitte kudasai ~~ <pos>"....its a miracle, the guy learned the english language in only 1 minute...he told me to go back to HP cuz i barely lose exp. Dont believe ppl with translator all the time.

"Hitsu wa kurihirogenai de kudasai" or "Hitsu wa akenai de kudasai"

might be handy for whoever might run into the same situation....yell "MATTE!" hehe, to get his attention...=p.

This same thing almost happened to me.. luckily I found (Racial Gear) (Can I have it?) (Please) < 10 Minute !!!!!! The JP got the clue, turned around and looked elsewhere.

think about it. If you can't get a message across to the other person. How do they know you arnt some sort of thf trying take "his" chest.

I'm nto sure if reward is in the ( ) but.... still stands. You cant blame him for immediatly thinking you are trying to gyp him.

Yeah, I found the [Racial Gear] in the translator just a couple hours later. But things ended well, at least. I logged off in frustration after having the chest stolen out from under me, knowing it wouldn't respawn for at least 30-60 minutes. When I came back I found another chest pretty easily, and still having about 4 hours to do the quest decided to try for a key for my final piece. Spent 3 hours fighting beetles down the ledge from the Stroper Chyme spawn and I was starting to get desperate. When my husband came to help, I decided to check the Chyme next time he spawned to see if we could take him the two of us. I ended up mis-targetting and checking the WAR in AF gear who was fighting him, and because I know some players are touchy about that sent the tell "[I'm sorry] [/check] [mistake] ^^". The WAR, Lynn, responds "np, are you looking for [Racial Gear]?" (How I learned about it, lol).

Lynn- who also happened to be Japanese, but spoke fairly good english- basically tore through every beetle she could find between Stroper Chyme spawns, and got me the key within 5 minutes of joining the group! So I got my full set of RSE after all, a must for every Elvaan mage out there.

Oh, and Mithy- I don't know why that Taru would think that I was trying to gyp him out of "his" chest, seeing how he ran up to it when I was literally standing right on top of it. I sent him a tell before opening the chest in english because a) it was an odd hour for a JP player (about 2 PM CST, I don't know the time conversion exactly but it's way early morning in Japan) b) nothing in his char name indicated whether he was JP or not, and he had no search comment, and it wasn't until after opening the chest that he even bothered to respond saying he didn't understand. -_- Personally, if I had a key for one of the areas RSE is found in, I'd be considerate and check the clock to make sure RSE wasn't going on at a given time before using it. But apparently I'm just overly nice or something. *shrugs*

I use the "I don't speak english" trick all the time. Sure its deceptive, but with the way I talk in broken sentences and emotes most people assume I'm jp anyways~
