Interesting little article about gamers who can't disconnect from the mentality they fall into playing games . . .

I for one can't help but think anyone who tries to drive over shit in a car after playing Katamari has more problems than the game being really good . . .

"Dear Namco,
Thanks to Katamari Damacy I have driven over 12 school children, an ice cream stand and a bus stop sign. My life is a god damn mess"

After a long marathon of playing EQ2 I once swore that I saw a ? pop out of the floor in my apartment.

The ? signifies a harvestable node on that game.

I can relate in some ways to the graphic designer's comment at the end of the article, but only in relation to drawing. After spending a long time in drawing on a tablet when I do back to paper and need to erase something I think ctrl+z every once in a while.

But really . . . driving your car into a mail box???

I've never had problems like that... and i've been playing games since I was a little kid. It's not that difficult in my experience to seperate reality from gaming :P Even before FFXI I had very little respect for people who couldn't take care of themselves or couldn't do their jobs correctly... just carried over to FFXI where if you have awful gear (not taking care of yourself) and were inept at playing your character (bad players) then I probably didn't have much fun being around you (general YOU).

One of my freinds was once at work and there was a problem in the back of the store and he decided it would be good to send some Ghosts from Starcraft back and fix the problem...then he caught himself.

That...seems like a joke article more than anything else.

Sure, after long periods of playing FFXI I'll complain about Kitty Aggro (I have my own person {cat} {notorious monster} who detects by sight, smell and sound, and pops about every half hour)...

After long periods of playing The Sims I will complain about my bladder, or fun bar being in the red...

But I played Katamari Damacy for 3 days, and didn't have the urge to actually roll anything up...

First of all, what a horrible article! It is either a joke, satire, or just plain let's-blow-this-out-of-proportion-to-get-some-readership. Honestly though, people that would do something like that have more fundamental problems that would arise whether or not video games were even in the equation. It's just that it's popular right now to blame video games for the ills of society instead of dealing with the problem at the source...it's happened with books and movies as well...sad really...

In all seriousness I can see it happening just of impulse, my freind is a perfect example. I mean havent you wanted to check something before engaging it in normal conversation, jk.

Ok, that was just silly. I mean, games can have a little effect on your thoughts, but to totally control them? I'm surprised these jounalists aren't trying to link mushroom eating addicts to people who play Super Mario... *sigh*

After hours of useing 3ds max i notice more detial in things and wounder if i could copy it most of the time its just noticeing detail. This is kinda good and bad ive never had the problem of knowing the reality of things. But thats amazing that games have that much affect on people.

A MAIL BOX!!?!?! lol thats kinda stupid eh?

Never had the problems of wanting to press control z or anything though i do use it often but i never really think of games when im off ofem.

I'd make a more direct relation between "magic" mushrooms and Katamari

you've watched the intro . . .

that's all just kinda silly, and frankly, i'm tired of articles like this. Just like it used to be with movies and books, games are constantly under fire from idiots who want to use video games as our societies bane.

Video games aren't our problem, it's just stupid people. Don't eliminate the games, eliminate the people in the world who take the games too far. It doesn't help when kids cop out when they get caught doing something and they blame it on the games. Video games have been blamed for school shootings, car wrecks, etc etc, and yet noone bothers to check the mental state of the people who have done these things before automatically making the conclusion that "Video games kill people"

. . .Just realized this isn't the flameboard....sorry for the rant >.>

yeah, this article is either a joke, or just someone looking for some quick publicity.

o_O Just an observation...but look at my post then look at Lecan's.

Well, one time after I beat silent hill in one 12 hour stretch I was walking to the store on a foggy night and got the shit scared out of my by some drunk dude who walked out from behind a tree. (That isn't a joke, either.)

Also, when I still played GTA, I'd thinking about jacking cars. :p

I also like to sneak around after playing Splinter Cell for a while.
