Somewhere in Tokyo, there is a room. In that room is a black sphere. Periodically, people who should otherwise have died are transferred to the room. There, the sphere gives them special suits and weapons, and sends them out on a mission to kill aliens here on Earth. While these missions take place, the rest of the world is largely oblivious to them. These missions are lethal - few participants survive them. The sphere calls the shots, and it's not the slightest bit nice. It's name... Gantz.

Well for those who haven't read this manga... I have quoted the plot summary for it above. Its a really really awesome manga and I consider it one of the best out there. Chapters are released biweekly and it is a very well drawn and written manga series. There are 277 chapters out thus far and is still going. But be warned it has a lot of mature mature content (meaning it has its fair share of violence, blood, gore, sex, and adult language.) A must read in my opinion. So if you don't mind mature content you should pick it up and start reading it.

I was thinking about reading this seeing as hbi2k introduced me to Gantz with his awesome Gantz abridged series.

Chapter 277 was a great chapter in my opinion after the epic fail that was chapter 276. I say chapter 276 was an epic fail because of the simple fact of Nuri killing Oka off camera. Oka had so much potential and to kill him off camera was a slap to the cock. I mean worthless characters to the story got the honor to die on camera. The ending of chapter 277 was FTW and one of the best endings of any manga chapter I have read of any series in awhile.
 
I absolutely love this anime. XD I've only ever watched a few episodes, but it had me completely caught up in it.
 
I can't do manga, mainly because I hate reading. However this anime was a-fuckin-mazing. I really wish they'd do a second season but probably wont ever happen. Epic ending in the anime too, real fucked up.
 
If you love the show than you should read the manga. Its very addictive. Everyone who has read it on my recommendation caught up to where it is at in 1-3 days. The anime only lasted for like 70-90 manga chapters. Its on chapter 277 now. Its better than ever. A lot of awesome characters have been introduced and killed of beautifully. I recommend checking it out even if you don't like reading. You might make an exception. Also some chapters have very little dialog because of all the fighting and killing going on.

ANYWAY, I JUST READ IT. Very good chapter. THIS IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENS (to the best of my short term memory):

HS and Nuri are fighting.

Katou HASN'T pulled the trigger yet but is locked on.

Cherry and Reika also have Nuri in their sights.

All three are wondering whether HS is friend or foe but seem to lean toward foe.

Katou seems to want to kill both. Thinking of Ayumu and Kuruno he THEN fires the H gun.

HS escapes the blast just in time, but he doesn't appear again in the chapter. He flies off somewhere immediately after the shot goes off.

Meanwhile, Katou's shot destroys Nuri just as Nuri's eyes catch a glimpse of and appparently were about to kill Reika (Nuri says, "I see" one last time) from what I could understand. It was possible that Katou was the target, but I think Reika was about to die.

Nuri is gone. The transfer begins.

Kuwabara is shown with the two girls. He begs for death. They agree they should just throw him away. They here a big explosion. They can't believe somebody is still alive and even more can't believe the Tokyo team could have done it. All three of them are transferred.

Takeshi is transferred.

Old man, Nishi, and Inaba are all transferred

Nerdo runs to Katou, says something like "I want to be like you. I want to do what you did. I'm going to revive Anzu, blah blah blah.

Katou says thanks, and that's it.

BTW, the pic where it looks like Katou is dying is just him trying to pull the trigger.
 
Feels like it's dragging out. but man are the Osaka team awesome

The new chapter was just released. Katou was the only person from the Tokyo team to get 100 points. Don't know if they will show the Osaka team's totals.
