Big Funn
A little warning to you farmers out there. I had a batch of 40 cuttings ready to harvest on Sunday, but I missed the full moon. So I think, no problem, I'll just wait till the next one, it is only three days. After asking the advice of some LS mates, I go for it.

Well, I log in yesterday to find every single last one of my plants dead. I had just checked them that morning and they were fine. So the best I can tell, cuttings will only last three days after they are ready to be harvested. This is ridiculous seeing how it takes 2 1/2 weeks to grow. You would think they would give you a few more days grace, but no.

So, over 3 million gil was lost from the sapplings I would have harvested. Live and learn I guess. I just don't want anyone else to have to go through such disappointment, hence the reason behind my post.

SE you suxors.

Thats why if you miss a full moon you go ahead and harvest anyways =P

There are probably ways to increase your plants life. Maybe mogenhancement gardening or something?

Yea, SE hates gardeners, I just grew 3 earth ores :D
But anyways, sorry about your luck, shit happens, I've lost some expensive plants too ><

Lol, ok they hate farmers who get cocky, and think they have more time to harvest than they actually do.

I have the every one of my mule's houses filled with maple tables, a x-mas tree, and water casks. I have full harvest gear on all of them as well. So my gardening enhancement is just about as good as it can get.

There was some post going around about wearing harvesting gear while checking plants.

If it's on, it'll speed up the process...
If it's off, it'll slow down the process? Somethign like that... don't know if it's true or not.

Sorry to hear about the loss, that sucks. However, it's a gamble right? I don't even bother waiting anymore.

2 summers ago, Florida got wrecked by several pretty nasty hurricanes. I had 10 pots of sapplings growing Dark Ores on a mule, and wouldn't you know it, right when it was time to harvest them, the hurricanes hit. We had no electricity for 5 days, so I couldn't log on to check on them.

When I finally could log back on, they were all dead of course. >_< I feel your pain, it sucks to lose plants because it takes soooo long to get them just right.

Four game weeks is about the limit for harvesting cuttings/saplings... maybe you're LS mates shouldn't have given you advice when they didn't know...

No, they hate people who want to have things handed to them at no personal risk. ;o

Ouch, put the claws away friend. No one here wants to hurt you, it's allright.

Hmm, so by wearing my harvesting gear, I quite likely screwed myself. Interesting. I'll have to take off my harvesting gear on one mule to act as a control, and see if that theory holds any water.

XD Note the emoticon. If I meant to be malicious, I probably wouldn't have used one. :D

It's all good, just joking with ya.

The handed to me part is what made me twinge though. I'm thinking to myself.... I've bought 40 pots, 100 maple tables, like 300k in gear, bought 40 tree cuttings in singles over a two week period, checked the plants every day, even when I didn't want to get on. That is hardly nothing, lol.

Oh well, this would have been my fourth harvest, and my first real money maker becuase I've invested all my other profits into more gardening mules.

Next time I'll just harvest on the day as close to the full moon as possible.

Now, let me ask you guys this. What do you think is more improtant. The moon phase or the day of the week?

IMO, day of the week

For saplings, moonphase. They have no element.

Otherwise, day of the week.

Or you can go all out. Every full moon lasts exactly 8 days, so every moon cycle you'll get another day+full moon combo that matches what you want...

Ok, just make sure I'm understanding you...

When you grow cuttings into sapplings there is no element?

I was told to plant on dark and harvest on light by someone who gets x2 for every pot. I don't know what to believe. If I only had to make sure to plant and harvest on the full moon, and not worry about the day it would certaintly make my life easier.

And when you did this you got two in EVERY pot?

I think he's talking about getting saplings from cuttings. Not ores from saplings.

I realise that, I was pointing out that his friends surefire way of getting 2 saplings from every cutting almost certainly wasn't...

I don't know that she got it everytime, but I do know that she has done so in the past.

I do that my success rate for x2 harvests increased after I started planting on dark and harvesting on light on a full moon.

However, I haven't tried just planting and harvesting on random days of the full moon either. I've always stuck to those two days.
