Well ladies and gentleman I am here today to rant or flame about a garrison party I had yesterday. I am no good at flaming or ranting so I will just try my hand at this.

:: clears his throat ::

Yesterday I was just getting back to sandoria from a long and unevantful day in quffim, when I noticed on the shout channel someone was putting together a Garrison party. So I thought well what the hay I havent fought anything since I logged on so why not. I /tell the pt leader who's name I will keep annon and asked about the requirments for this garrison quest and what needed to be done basically he told me to come on down to the out post and all i had to do was kill orcs and make sure the npc's survived and I would get some good gil, exp, and some items. Seemed easy enough for me at the time so i went to my moghouse and grabbed my lizard armor and hussled down to the out post. When I got there I was invited into the alliance of 3 parties there we waited for a half our for everyone to arrive and then the guy who was to activate the garrison quest handed over the red cryptex to the authorities and we were on our way...so we thought the pt leader accidently dropped and we were forced to wait until another member of the alliance got back from his moghouse with his cryptex which didnt work because he was not lvl 20 and from sandoria. So we slapped another 5 minutes onto the wait by everyone was spamming /random and wandering off. So by the time the 3rd person with the cryptex got back and we got the pt's back in order had waited an hour. Final we the leader of the alliance had said to everyone "DONT LOT ON THE ITEMS UNTIL THE WAVE IS FINISHED <call18653>" everyone seemed to understad the plan until it started. One orcish cursemaker down first drop was Mannequin legs! well someone lotted which sent everyone else into a lotting and arguing match the we decided to get focused again and re-established the understanding of "No Lotting". Once again someone kills a Chassure same drop.....take a guess what happens. By this time the pt leader is spamming " NO LOTTING <call77696>" and everyone is lotting like a mad man including myself because you dont just let someone get away with casting a lot on something. By this time an orcish fighter finished me off and I was fairly unhappy that i waited an hour just to die and go home empty handed no gil , exp, or items like i was promised and yet someone had the nerve to /tell me and call me a "F'ing lotting noob" because I had lotted like everyone else to try and even it out and try to make sure the first lotter didnt get it.

So in the end what I am trying to get at is Public Event Parties = no orginization and not worth it. do this quest with a linkshell and people you trust. Otherwise this quest is not worth it because its a bunch of money hungry players in a 40 foot area with the treasure list open and ready to lot. And no the garrison hose I am selling was not the result of me playing garrison someone had given them to me to sell so I could pay for my wedding to jender but the are not selling so they must not be worth it.

I had the EXACT same thing happen yesterday....The waiting over an hour for people to get their act together, the "NO LOTTING UNTIL FINISHED" and then some little ass-wipe lots on the Legs, Everyone else starts lotting (I didn't because I agreed that I wouldn't when I joined), he gets the legs and then takes off! To boot one of the alliance leaders get's pissed off at our party because we were the first to die....We died because all the mages were in one group! -_-; I really really like the garrison missions but I tried twice yesterday and didn't make it, If people weren't such dinks they would be more organized and a heck of a lot more enjoyable for everyone!

IMHO the problem is that FFXI doesn't really support player organization well. An LS is more like an AOL chat room. There is very little built-in structure to support player organization (i.e. guilds as they can be formed in other games, with supporting guild management tools).

The user interface is the suck! All chat spamming into the same window, no XML consumazation, if you miss something important that scrolled off your screen you need to dig for it, yadda yadda yadda.

I am not defenidng players who fuck up, but I am saying that those who attempt to organize something have a very hard time with it, not just because they have to deal with dozens of players, but because the software provides very little help.

Sorry to hear you suffered the same fate as me in my Garrison quest, Daroth. Atleast he didn't /tell you "u slut u let the team die. u slut. u fukkin slut. ur a slut."

Interestingly enough, one of my Mithran friends said she was in a Garrison quest, and the legs dropped... She was the ONLY one who got the legs... And she called me on the phone, asking what they do? I started laughing to myself. I told her what they did and how much they were worth... She was pretty much like "Oh... I see... Well, I just want to make money." So I struck a deal with her. She gives me the legs and any other Mannequin parts she comes across, and I keep spending money on her to keep her armor & weapons up-to-date. She agreed.

I feel lucky.

I was in that one with Daroth. Everyone satarted lotting and I was like WTF, so I admit, I lotted on the first pair, too, but stopped after that. Sucked, I was one of the last ones to die, there were no tanks left so guess who had all the hate....the ranger.....
