Gears of war: Annex update

Capture and Hold, not Flag.

One of my more favorite modes of Tribes.

Watching the video it seems to play exactly like Nodes from Metroid Prime: Hunters. But with more players. Which can only be a good thing, because I enjoy Nodes immensely despite the 4 player limitation in Hunters.

I love you. Tribes FTW.

after about all of 20 minutes playing Annex, I have to say I like it, unfortunately I was lured away to another room where my friends insist after only 5 minutes that annex totally sucks. Of course, I also think assassination can be fun, if you can find people to play it with. Annex is definitely an interesting and potentially heavily strategy influenced mode, curious to see how it evolves.

Anyone else notice that the tweak to roady running actually makes it easier to be glued to a wall? I noticed if you roady run parallel to a wall and barely touch it, you grab cover on it instead of not interacting with it. This is best displayed by the race-to-the-boom on mansion, there is now a wall that get's me that never has before.

either way, really really glad to see the sliders gone, can't mention how angry it made me watching people continuously glitch the torque bow on Canals. Thanks Epic, you guys rock, let's see if we can address bullet lag sometime soon.

Amen AND the fkin' hit boxes. Until then, even with new modes, the game is a fkin train wreck. I don't see how so many people still play it. I understand you can get use to it but hell, it isn't the way it's suppose to be >.> Here's to hoping they don't mess up UT3 :D

i guess i still play it because most of the problems ive heard about i have never experienced, the only glitch or problem i ever had was the getting stuck after chainsawing glitch, but thats been fixed.

I thought annex was fun after playing 6 rounds. It's also a great way to get a bunch of kills compared to the other gamemodes. My first impression was "Why not CTF? I LOVED that mode in tribes 2!" But C&H happens to be an awsome gamemode for GoW in my opinion; it's more hetic and adds speed to the multiplier.

Bullet lag is a big problem, if everyone was lagging it wouldn't be too bad, as you learn to lead your aim and compensate. But it clearly makes the host a god, especially with the shotty, which is a very unfortunate exploit that is most apparent in ranked mode. Look for the guy that runs around with the shotty and makes no effort to ever pick up anything else, that is the host in ranked matches. Even with that said, there is still alot to enjoy and if your adaptable can still school most hosts far and away. By hit boxes I assume you mean targeting reticles outside of the aim mode, honestly it just takes time to adapt it's no big deal and you can use your health to aim if needed. Would it be nice to have one? Sure.

The reason why I still play Gears and love it so much, is it reminds me alot of Socom and it lends itself more to strategy and tactics than the fun, but shallow thrills of Halo or first person shooters in general. I love the weapons and the levels, it's all very balanced(except maybe Escalation) and leads to some interesting and fun gameplay. Bullet lag is my only complaint, but even that can't stop me from enjoying it.

You're right about the learning tocompesate stuff but my argument is that no one should have to. Epic should have not released the game in it's state and at least fixed it by now. They've added maps and new modes of play but can't seem to get the small stuff right. It's wrong to have to fix what should be for what is.

For the "hit box", I'm not talking about a target mark on the screen. A hit box , for most games -lawl-, usually surrounds the body of a character to a perfect T so that when a bullet hits that area the character is effected in an appropriate manner. In Gears, this box is off just enough to make it a pain in the ass if you're use to pretty much any other shooter out there.
