Was planning on getting it but reconsidering now. I'm frankly quite shocked consider it's Epic. Haven't been the biggest PC gamer but I do know that dedicated servers are pretty standard. I heard the biggest problem with GeOW on 360 was the host advantage, so I was looking forward to getting the game with everything perfected and the extra 5 chapters + the editor, in exchange for waiting a year. If it's P2P only I might as well spend more time playing Crysis instead.

Are you sure you just didn't read no Epic hosted dedicated servers? Other people could still host dedicated servers otherwise.

Welp.

Looks like we'll get our Brumak fight on 360 afterall. What with the underwhelming sales of the PC version.

The only thing that host really helped in GoW was sniping, and with about 90% of the people who snipe just active down you anyways it doesn't really make a difference.

Except, the content likely already exists now. Porting it over wouldn't be terribly difficult or time consuming.

Two things.

1 - They said that it would take a lot of effort, and the code's changed significantly on the PC version.

2 - They couldn't sell it on the 360. You aren't allowed to sell what you give away for free on another platform.

Hence there's no motivation to deny it's coming if it was coming. If they're trying to get people to double dip, they can't make the sale again on the 360.

Not to mention if they spend more time on Gears 1 then forget Gears 2 for 2008.

If they really wanted to, they could just marketplace it.

I always saw GoW as a single-player game. I never really enjoyed the online, but then again, I'm more of a "oh shit I died respawn" guy.
Still, I know this kills it for a lot of people. More power to porting the new content to the 360.

No, there is a HUGE advantage thanks to the lack of bullet lag when you're host. If anything, sniping on non-host helps even it out because you can learn to time the shot and compensate for the lag.

I don't know why you brought this from a month back, but it is probably because either you stink, or i'm really good. I know i'm not really good so that leaves only one option.

In all my hours of playing online gears there has been maybe one time a person got me because he was host. When you are in the middle of the shotty dance, bullet lag is about the last thing on your mind.

Unless your sniping (but everyone just active down so this is moot), if you are the piece of crap that frag tags, or the other piece of crap that bashes to stun and then shoots with the shoot, you won't notice a difference.

That is of course provided the host has a good connection, but no one will join your game if you have a shitty connection, so that one also goes out the window.

You couldn't be more wrong, and you're a fool if you think being the host has little advantage. Add me and we'll play sometime then, my GT is the same as here. If you let me host, you're going to get destroyed. If you host, I can't tell you the outcome because I don't know how good (or bad) you are.

I'll wait for the add..

Btw - Here's some proof of "bullet lag".

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-kd4srElAHc

And yes, it's like this in every game no matter who hosts. You will ALWAYS have NOTICEABLE bullet lag off host because its one guy hosting his own room, not a dedicated server. I really didn't want to argue but you started it by being an asshole.

If you want to see bullet lag for yourself, join a game and shoot your lancer across the ground like in the video. It will lag, now try it on host, you won't have any bullet lag. It works the same with the shotgun, pistol, boomshot, whatever.

I play this god damn game every day, I'm pretty much an addict. I'm sure I would know if there is bullet lag or not, hell everybody but you knows apparantly.

Since you seem to be so keen to the fact that i think that bullet lag doesn't exist, i'll politely asking you to show me where i said it doesn't exist. I'm very aware of the fact that it exists. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

What i did say, however, is that it won't make a huge difference, unless if certain conditions that i said are met. That being the frag tag, sniping (which i declared moot in the other post), and the bash to stun/shotty.

If you play day and night and are addicted to the game then there is really no point in challenging me to a match to test host. You would need to play against someone of equal skill, and like i said, if you need host to be able to be good, then chances are you aren't that good. I'll admit right now that you are probably better at gears than me.

Also, you fail to take into account the connection of the host, which i guess also went over your head in my last post. If the host has a shitty connection, then obviously the bullet lag will be worse. A good remedy for this would be to leave that host and avoid him so you don't have to deal with it again or if it is with friends, just have someone with *not* a really shitty connection host it.

But it makes a HUGE difference, watch the video.

1) Like you said with a sniper, you have to lead.
2) You cannot shoot someone consistently with a lancer when he/she is running sideways because of the lag, MAJOR disadvantage.
3) If you are on a 1v1 lancer/pistol fight with the host, he will most likely hand it to you because his bullets come faster.
4) A shotgun/shotgun firefight with the host means one thing, if the host's skill is worth a damn then he will likely down you with an active, and most likely in one shot unless you manage to get the shots off first.

You don't have to play me, but add me anyway and I'll demonstrate why it makes such a big difference. And FYI, I never host when I play since I can never get my game full.

Oh i watched the video plenty of times, and the only response i have is that the only times i've had lag anywhere close to that is when the host had a really shitty connection, and i just left anyways.

I'll add you, but we had a deal going on at the game store i work in where you get 20% more for your trade ins if you trade in 3 or more 360 games at once. Gears, was sadly the first pick off my shelf. I'm wary to pay 40 bucks for it considering none of my friends even play gears anymore, so we'll have to see how everything works out.

I'll be more than happy to play you in a little CoD4 though. :spiteful:

If you want to add me, my xbl tag is in my sig.

Shame, trading in Gears is like a sin to me. I don't have COD for but I'm picking it up within the week, might even trade in Halo 3 for it since it's the most overrated piece of crap (imo) I've ever landed my eyes on. I'll add you once I get cod, you should try getting GoW cheap from somewhere though, it's still worth having even if your friends don't play.
