This is a total geek topic and I'm sure a lot of you haven't actually participated in the joy that is game soundtracks. But I'm sure some have =)

Me, I love video game music!

But anyway I was just wondering what your fave FF series soundtrack has been? My props go out to Final Fantasy 8's soundtrack. It was epic, fun, goofy, sad and just a really well rounded 4 discs full of great tracks. In a close second I'm going to say the soundtrack for Crystal Chronicals is awesome. But anyway! Share your opinion :D

LOL, I have EVERY soundtrack ever made on my comp for Final Fantasy, a whooping 6 gigs worth of files, someone hosted it on Box torrents, called the Perfect FF collection. It's insane, I think its somewhere around 2,700+ MP3's, good stuff.

Hehe...i bought the 4 disc import for FF7....*reminiscent sigh*

this is sort of offtopic, but on topic.....but. For anyone whose played BOF3. Do you know what the title of the song is thats played when Ryu grows up and revisits the old tree-house and meets Rei. I LOVE that song, but cant find it for the life of me. I dont know if its on the soundtrack even....if it is...p-lz plz plzzzzz, tell me.

I don't have any of the OST's, but I do have the US Soundtrack for FFX, Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (FFVIII Orchestrated), Final Fantasy S Generation (FFVII-IX Orchestrated and Piano), and a mix CD I made.

I'm also thinking of getting the Black Mages' CD sometime soon.

I unfortunatly dont have any Final Fantasy soundtracks. I would love to get an orchistrated version of FF7 & 8's music.

I do have the soundtrack for Lunar:Silver Star Story Complete, as it came with the game. Love that music, but the songs are by far the best thing in that game's music content.

I also highly enjoy listening to the soundtracks I got with the .Hack//Sign anime series. I always bought the limited edition boxes (which came with soundtracks or some thing extra usually). Theres a total of 4 separate soundtracks for that series, well 3 for the series, 1 for the oav and all of them are completely awesome. I love the songs and music, flows very well and its extremely relaxing to listen to.

Call me crazy, but I enjoyed playing Rhapsody when I did play it. Bought it used from Blockbuster, part of a buy 2 get 1 free thing they had. Rhapsody actually came with its own soundtrack.. lol. But some of it really isnt all that bad, most of the songs are good simply because they arent trying to be serious at all.

I dunno if yall all know this or not. But you can take the PS one games and put them in your cd player and you can listen to it's soundtrack. Me and a friend found this out when messing around one day. I forget if the FF games are the same way. I really liked the FF 7 music the best. Its kinda classic and timeless.

O.o Really? Wow.. I never thought to do that.. lol

Most PSone games don't have that. They just have one track that might be played in the game. Sometimes more than one. I believe if they do it that way the sound quality is better. But most games don't do that because it takes up less space. And I'm pretty sure that all the Final Fantasy games don't have it. Just track 1 which is just data.

god, i loved the Celtic Moon theme from 4... loved a fair bit or 6... 7 was amazing, i tip towards orchestal stuff though... symphony gives such true feeling to a piece of game... 8 I was kind of just a bit touched by the music, 9 had it's points but not exceptional... X had some phenominal music, specifically the auron theme and jecht batlle theme. XI... selbina!!! sanctuary!! raunfaure... most of it's really good... i hate the solo play battle music...

we have only ever bought the ffx soundtrack...and I looooove it <3 I iwll have to look into getting some of the others...

I love importing game music.
So far I have Seiken Densetsu 3, Chrono Trigger and Cross, Xenosaga I & II, FFVI OST and Grand Finale, FFIX, X, and XI, FF Vocal Collection 2, Star Ocean 3 Arranged, Star Ocean & Valkyrie Profile Arranged Plus Best, and History of Zelda Music Collection.
My favorite is Chrono Trigger, though FFVI is real close.
The only one I'm disappointed with is the Zelda music. The early tracks sounded better on my NES...
My will probably buy eventually list still contains Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Valkyrie Profile, Tales of Symphonia, and a few others I can't think of because it's so late (err early...)

860 Songs of FF Music on my winamp playlist :P

Including:

Chrono Trigger (Was too good to be left out ^^)
FF1
FF2
FF4
FF5
FF6
FF7
FF8
FF9
FF10
FF11 (Using the .dat files there ^^)
Black Mages I
Black Mages 2

I'm venturing out of the FF box a bit, definitely chrono trigger. Characters each get their own awsome theme song, zeal, to far away times, magnus, crono, and too many more godly songs to name. Chrono cross is a honorable mention.

I haven't imported anything...But I've downloaded tons of FF music, I love squaresoft/SE music and have many playlists for just their music. Alot of my favorites would have to go to 7,9,10,11. The world map song for 7 was very peaceful, sephiroth songs, city of ancients to name a few from 7. Kuja, memoriaand 'many' other random spread out songs in 9. I have a pretty big playlist for sololy FF9 of a few dozen songs, gets me in the mood for <Bard> when I have to level it. 10/11 was all good, but I don't know what to say really, but I love the music.

How do you get your hands on music from the 'black mages' anyway? I heard their 2 demi songs and thought it was awsome.

I bought mine from eBay I think. Might have been gamemusic.com.

I've been obsessed with video game music ever since I first played FFIV. My first credit card purchase was the OST from it. Since then, I've bought pretty much every RPG sountrack I could get my hands on.

If I was home, I could give an accurate list, but these are some of my personal favorites:

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (my favorite CD ever)
Castlevania: Dracula New Classic (out of print since 92, MP3's only ; ; )
FFIV: Celctic Moon
FFVI: Grand Finale
FFVIII: Orchestrated Version
FF Crystal Chronicles: OST
ICO: OST
Rygar: OST (decent PS2 game, astounding orchestration)
Valkyrie Profile: Arrange Albumn
Xenogears: Creid
Chrono Cross: OST
7th Saga: OST (no OST ever released, but I have the extracted music tracks)
Summoner: OST (again, no OST ever released, but mp3's given away on the THQ website)
Diablo 2: OST (loves my ambience)
World of Warcraft: OST (sorry FFXI, but digital > midi)

Forgetting some, I'm sure.

If anyone wants to get their hands on any of the above (especially the ones that were never released, or are out of print) drop me a PM and I'll hook you up.

So, if Pupusa himself has it, would I still be attacked by evil anti-piracy goblins if I posted the link and the two updates?

Favourite is probably the FF7 music aaaaaaaand Clash on the big bridge from FF5 :D

<-------------------- Avid Video Game Soundtrack Collector

I download as much as I can from most video games, but I also have purchased a few soundtracks and imported some others. Among the greatest imported one, of course, was the original japanese 4-disc ffvii soundtrack. The one with the water-color art booklet and cover, and the 'Please Change Disc' pictures on the four cd's. I think it was Tifa on the Water tower, Red XIII atop the mountain with Seto, Cloud watching over Midgar, and Cid on the Tiny Bronco. Anyway..

Soundtracks:

FFIV
FFV
FFVI
FFVII
FFVIII
FFIX 'Original Sountrack Plus'
FF N Generation
FF S Generation
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Wild Arms
FFT
Killer Instinct (I know, i know, but it came with the game)
Grandia II (Again, it came with the game)
Star Ocean 2: Second Story
Secret of Mana
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
..And i'm sure theres one or two more I cant think of right now.

I've also a massive collection of Megaman MP3's, Silent Hill musics, Earthworm Jim, a lot of the music from Golden Eye on N64, and tons of other video game music. My friends think i'm a square for having so many game music files and having like...No, what they refer to as 'real music' files. So what!

Also on the topic of putting psx games into a cd player, that only works with a few games. Mostly games by Konami though. And theres a program called PSound and PSmplay, these allow you to put your psx disc into your computer and detect sound files. These you can then convert into MP3's or .WAV files, and save them to your harddrive. I've noticed they dont work with Square games though. Sorry FF fans.

My personal fav are a tie between 7 and 8. 7 had the amazing orchestras, and 8 had the amazing vocals along with great instrumentals. Eyes on Me is by far my favorite song from a final fantasy though.

There's the link to the musical director for all FFs I think up to 10. Theres downloads for all the sheet music and all the midis of the songs. Enjoy!

I like you, Taurothar. Youre awesome. I've been looking for some of this sheet music for a while.

Unfortunately I don't have the OFFICIAL soundtracks, but I do have the entire FF MIDI collection (as well as a lot of Megaman and Castlevania music) saved on my computer which I listen to with Winamp, and I like those VERY much. (sure it would be nice to have better quality, but hey, free game music, literally seconds to download on my DIAL-UP, and it doesn't take up any space on my computer...works for me!) I do have one official OST I got as a birthday present from a friend one year: Kingdom Hearts. I WUB those two CD's SOOOO much!!!!
