Would like to know if there is a monthly fee and also does anybody know if the game can be purchased and downloaded online. thanks in advance.

No, there is not currently a monthly fee however there will be once SE decides when the game is at a "finished" level. It's supposably getting there but there are still kinks to work out.

As for downloading it off of a website... I am not sure if the official site has that option or not.. but with the game being as massive as detailed (graphically) as it is.. that would be one hellaciously long download. You're probably just best off finding the disc copy of the game somewhere.

You can create a square enix account for free, however you must purchase the game to receive the game key to register to your SE account. To my understanding, this game can only be purchased and installed via game disk.

this is beyond my knowledge of computers and file transfer but is it possible to transfer data from the install cd itself? and send to another pc and install that way?

so i started playing this evening finally. and my thoughts so far are this is a good game graphics are really good from what i can tell the battle system is something i need to get used to but no real big issue. i am kinda at a loss as to what to do as far as finding quests and missions and just general things like is there an auction house and what not.

any help would be appreciated.

Quests (!) signs will pop up in your map, as well as above NPC heads. Sadly there are very few quests, especially at the low lvls. Right now it's mostly just grinding :/
The first few missions you can get from the NPC at the adventurer's guild inn. You need to be of a certain lvl to flag them though.
There is a half-assed auction house kind of thing called the "Market Wards". You can put up your retainer bazaars there, as well as use the item search option to look for stuff. You can grab retainers at the Adventurer's guild.
