George Bush's Legacy

Not long now... just a few more weeks.

Indeed. I wait with bated breath...

Bush quotes alone didn't incite my disgust but certainly served to reinforce why I disliked his policies and overall approach. During both his terms, I heard people try to endear him by saying he’s a plain-speaker, down-to-earth, the kinda guy you could go have a beer with. That sounds exactly like my neighbor, Larry. And while Larry is a great neighbor, I sure as hell wouldn’t want him as president of the United States. It’s fine to sound like an everyday Jack, if you are. But is it too much to ask that the person holding the highest political office in the U.S. to be better than the average person? I don’t think so.

Disagree all you want with any politician's politics, just DON'T make it personal. Bush, Clinton(both), Gore, Obama, Clinton(both), McCain, ext, are all great people and PATRIOTS, who care a lot about America. By all means celebrate if the one you like is elected, but seriously no reason to hate the other guy. It's why we forget issues and focus on the irrelevent.

Anyway, this was made just to get some kicks/laughs out of some of the funny things hes said. Speaking incorrectly numerous times makes people think your an idiot, Its funny to see someone who is supposed to be one of, if not the most important figures of our nation to make comments like such.
Bajaratt said:
No, they dislike him because of his decisions and his policies, not because of the slip-ups he's made during a speech. You posting his misspoken errors during speeches and acting like it's of any importance is just proving Firestreak right.
If someone disliked someone just because they made mistakes while speaking, then you're such a shallow idiot that your opinion on them is completely worthless. You might as well hate him based on his choice of neck ties for all the value your opinion of him holds.

Edit: You really think punctuation is the only thing wrong with most of those quotes?
When your lack of punctuation changes the intent/context of what he was saying, yes. I'm not saying that the phrasing couldn't have been better, but when you change the inflections given throughout the sentence due to punctuation, you take the sentence out of context and any criticisms for it become meaningless.

It's not at all about hating someone personally, at least not for me. It's disagreeing with almost every "decision" he's made - his policies, the way he presents and carries himself - and about expecting that the President of the United States is held at a higher standard than the average American. Bush (W.) is hardly what I'd call a "great person." Did he carry out his term? Certainly. Does it make him a patriot? I'd consider our soldiers more of a patriot than George Bush. You don't instantly become one because you serve in the highest office in the country. You have to earn it. And frankly, I don't think he did. Unless you call souring the whole world's perspective on America and it's people patriotic.

Maybe if you clearly read my OP, i got these quotes from a list of quotes from a WEBSITE, i merely copied and pasted their supposed exact quotes onto this thread. I didnt fuck with the punctuation so i could get more shits and giggles out of it. If i struck a nerve with what i posted, QQ moar. Please tell me where i said that i dislike him because of the quotes. Please show me/

I honestly couldn't care less about the world's opinion on our political leaders. The Middle East can't and won't separate their politics and religion. France is ran by a bunch of communists and wonder why they have have so many staggering economic problems it makes the US look like smooth sailing. England shits all over some of the best politicians in the world like Tony Blair in favor of becoming giant pussies. Russia wants to resurrect and re-elect Stalin. All of them condemn Israel taking military action to halt unprovoked rocket attacks, from the same people they probably sell the rockets to.

Honestly if all these people like you, you're probably doing something wrong.

Sorry you quote from shitty web sites with obvious slants.

Please tell me where i said that i dislike him because of the quotes. Please show me/
Or maybe most of the worlds people have pathetic lives, because quotes like i posted are one of the numerous reasons people highly dislike Bush (Now)
Right about there. I even underlined it for you.

Lol you're really taking this one personal arent you. How do you know they're slants? You have no idea, you're just talking out of your ass. All i did was states a few quotes from a website, that i found rather funny. Do i hate Bush on a personal level? No. His Politics? Maybe, but to be quite frank im not involved enough in whats going on politically as i probably should be to make a serious opinion on him as a president.

Why did i use the title legacy? Legacy is a matter of opinion, and one of the things ill remember Bush for the most (ONE OF, be sure to read that one Bajaratt so you dont misquote me later) is his funny, misspoken comments.

Another thing, I believe (I could be wrong, im just taking a guess so i'm sorry if i am) these are quotes Bush has said verbally, i'm not sure theres a 100% perfect way of quoting someones punctuation. I guess by when/how they pause or say things but, atleast it would be hard for me.

Oh and Im sorry i dont see where it says "I dont like bush because of his misspoken quotes"

Well, unless you're dumb enough to be advocating the hell out of something you don't believe in(which it's obvious you do believe it); then you're one of those "people."

And to clarify, I was actually using a general "you" before; not specifically to you(Airou) but since you fell into the category it did apply to you.

Everything is so obvious to you isnt it lol. I wish i knew as much of you. All im "advocating" her is that i found these quotes hilarious, thats it get over it.

If i said something stupid, funny, or made myself look either of the two, people (friends or enemis) would rag on me for it in good fun. Thats it. I agree its "Obvious" that all of the things he said, he didnt mean for it to sound a way. He just made a mistake and thats all, which i found funny. I'm not alone either. Since things are so "Obvious" to you, then you shouldve drawn that conclusion like you drew so many others.

Funny, yes, that was "obvious" as you like to put it. As a reason to hate him though, that's just retarded; but then I'm not the one who claimed that.

Good try on the deflection, but your position during the whole thread has been pretty blatant. You don't like him, and the quotes you provide are apparently a sizeable reason why.

Sure dude, w.e you say lol.

I would greatly disagree with this. I take it personally when I feel the people leading this country should be in jail. I dunno how I can consider them great people and patriots after the things our recent leadership has done. Especially the propaganda that has been spread from this war that you are not a patriot if you do not blindly support it. I'm not some conspiracy theory guy, but even with a fairly unbiased and educated view point I cannot believe certain people aren't being punished.

"That we are to stand by the president, right or wrong is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

-Theodore Roosevelt

Being afraid of something doesn't make it difficult. Public speaking is pretty easy, you get up, and talk; it's actually easier than normal because you have what you're going to say right in front of you, you just have to read it. The only difference is you look around more and raise your voice unless there's a microphone present.

Just because Public speaking may come easy to you, doesn't make it easy. It is a skill just like anything else. That's basically saying that being a golfer is easy, because all you have to do is hit a ball in to a hole.

Also, to add, i think this list is pretty funny. My favorite thing he did was a some speech where he talked about "stratagery" and then bonked his head on the roof of the helicopter he got in to. It's also very believable that there are people who hate bush because of these things. I don't see how that's so far fetched in a world where a country can start rioting because they want a 35 hour work week, and then start getting upset when they aren't doing as well as they hoped. I think people trying to find some hidden agenda behind this are reading a bit too much in to it. We should be exercising our right to criticize the government, especially if they've had as many short comings as this one has.

Wait, are you trying to say Blair is/was one of the best politicians in the world? What a fucking joke. Then again you didn't have to put up with his multitude of fucking dogshit policies.

Agreed. I'd love to see that schmuck and his cronies on trial for authorizing war crimes, but that'll probably never happen. I'll settle for watching him fade into irrelevancy, only trotted out for state funerals or fundraisers to pay for new Mad Libs for his presidential library.

They say the best revenge is living well, so I look forward to seeing the nation move on without him at the helm.

I looked up other Bushisms and found this one that made me grin: "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully."

Stupid man... the fish cannot be trusted! You negotiate with them at your peril.

No, it really is very easy; like I said, you just talk louder and look around more. The only people who find if difficult are those with an irrational fear. Although maybe it's not so irrational if there's people looking so hard for a reason to hate you that they'll do it based off of you misspeaking.

It's also very believable that there are people who hate bush because of these things.
Hating him because he's a terrible speaker is a really shallow reason to hate him and his presidency. That shit belongs more on American Idol than for a political figure. Hate him for his decisions, his policies, what actually happened; but for him not being able to speak well? They need to grow the hell up.
