Looks like Germany's at it again. The fascist anti-videogame state has continued its persecution of videogames by now banning Counter-Strike from public view, demanding that it not be brought out at LAN parties in some areas of the country. Germany's Convention-X-Treme tournament has had to be canceled as a result of this decision. This effects buildings owned by the government, so they can't touch what people do on private property. Still, this is beyond ridiculous.

It's also being said that World of Warcraft has been banned from public play by a number of German ruling bodies as well. Apparently this will all help stop violence in the country, and surely won't lead to frustrated and angry teenagers becoming even more frustrated and angry. Slick move, Germany!

Counter-Strike is a LAN staple and, as evidenced by the cancellation of Convention-X-Treme and several Friday night game events, this is going to have perhaps the biggest affect on German gamers yet. It's become quite clear that German authorities have no clue what they're doing anymore, and are ruling with an iron fist that which they do not understand.

Germany has lost the plot, officially.

I saw this coming and yet I'm still facepalming at how much fail Germany's government are for doing this. Sorry to German gamers, your Government just fucked over your tournies and LAN parties.

Oh lawd, those Germans are banning fun and happiness!

inb4crimerateincreaselulz.

In all seriousness, this isn't going to reduce the crime rate in Germany, it'll only increase it.

I was really getting tired of hearing 11-year-old Angry German kids screaming profanities and the words "Mein Gott, Hacker!" at me.

It's okay, FPS Doug will come save them.

Of course they are! After the ass-handing they got in WW2, Germany doesn't want anything to do with war or war related things. They must shoot germans on sight caught with Call of Duty games in their hands too...

And a petition has been made, and it's actually working. They need 50000 signatures, what they have right now, around 25000.

I think any real gamers in Germany import their games. The releases there are incredibly censored, removing blood and even abilities.
In GTA in Germany, if someone falls down the game won't let you perform melee moves on them.

It's not called Counter-Strike guys, it's called--literally by the government over there--Murder Simulation.

That's what they call [most] video games over there these days.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vidya get a total ban regardless of content in the maybe not so near future.
