I think People don't get angry because they are loosing In-Game. People get angry because other people are Acting Dumb. Stop Hiding behind your Toon and act like a Human Being.
Some people DO get angry ingame for certain things, which I'm not sure what Silverbat means, but it makes more sense when you look at it a certain way. There are people that do get genuinely pissed if they lose out on a NM spawn, and will get depressed if they can't find a party. How do I know this? Because it's quite easy to lose yourself in the game and become totally immersed in the world of FFXI, especially if there is no other social outlet in your life.
It's pretty simple, once you think about it... if there aren't any people to accept you or share time with in real life, you're going to turn to the next best thing, which is the virtual world. It turns out being a viscious cycle, as people who aren't satisfied with their lives will put more stock in the game, and if they can't get satisfaction out of the game, it could either make them strive to get out of their hole in real life to achieve satisfaction, or it could drive them deeper into the virtual world, pretty much shutting out the real world. I guess keeping your real life duties and stuff you want to accomplish in the game balanced is the best way to go about it, but it's obvious it's easier said than done.

My definition of "a life" is as follows:
Using your life's time to whatever you see fit and enjoyable. To partake in whatever makes you happy and indulge in your passions in a legal (not always) and moral way, and to not let whats important fall to the wayside.
Also a bit of advise, If you are going to post here, you may as well have something constructive to say and/or make a few friends, otherwise you will
get flamed, and wont be able to go into any heavily populated area in Van'diel, without at least once seeing someone use a combination of your name and the word "asshat" being /sh'd in your chat window.

Realize is the Americanized spelling, while realise is the British/Canadian spelling. It's a bit like color/colour or check/cheque.

but i agree with silverbat. ppl are too serious in this game, just like what runekane said. too serious that those ppl that wasn't able to claim an nm prefer to train mobs to those ppl that won the claim so they can die. now how seriously stupid is that? gawd, some ppl. there are quite a few "online bangers" i'd like to call em, in this game. ppl that "act" hard behind a character, thinking they are better than everyone else. so very foolish ><;
