Getting a girl in r/l

Yeah I'm shy and single as well. I know what you other shy singles are going through. But right now im waiting and seeing if maybe a girl will come to me. I have had a few start some conversations with me out of nowhere. Maybe I'll find one that'll take it further than that. Rather be hunted then hunt in this type of situation. I'm in no hurry for a g/f though so if it takes awhile then so be it.

Here's how my friends do it:

Step one: Be an asshole.

Step two: Be an asshole some more.

Step three: Repeat.

Step four: Win.

Seems to work pretty well from what I've seen.

Sorry I don't have anything constructive to say here.
i think that works cause some girls want a guy that looks or acts being a tough guy cause they wanna feel safe and shit cause parents are some times forbiding their daughters from alot of stuffs(personal opinion)

So... say you actually meet this unbelievable girl. You love everything about her. You really want to be with her, and the only thing stopping you is your beard. You can honestly say you wouldn't shave it to be with her?

If you wouldn't shave, then power to you. Spend the rest of your life looking for the girl who loves absolutely everything about you. When you're 70 and lonely, because your unshaven beard kept you from getting a girl, don't come crying to us.

But in my case its not like she wouldn't go out with me if I didn't shave. She just finds my shaven look a lot more sexier than my unshaven look. And in relationships, incase you didn't realize, you want your partner to find you sexy.

The perfect one will find you sexy even at your worst. It's all about the character man. Looks can only get you so far. I don't think I've ever attracted girls off my looks. However, I usually pick them up after hanging around them for a little bit and they get to see my character. All people do different things and whatnot to get the ones they are looking for. I personally don't want someone who would find me sexy because of my looks. I'd rather them find me sexy by how I act. I dunno I'm rather bitter toward women usually though because I've watched my Dad go through some rather deep poop about 7 times with shallow women. I'd personally rather be "lonely" at 70 than to have someone that nagged about my beard or anything concerning my outter look. There is always that one who will love you and find you sexy despite anything. I see the comment "You would look so much hotter shaved" as "You're not good enough please look better" but like I said I'm kind of bitter to the type. Too each their own though ^^; but I'll be holding out for that one that may never come along...and if she don't, she don't. I would have to admit though if I was to find her I would have to stop spending so much time on MMO's (I don't play console games). So I'd have to change that unless she was really balls to the walls for me 8) but my last one was that way and I couldn't take it.

Girls look for a guy with status. Be this from positions held, money, fame, good lucks, it all boils down to status. Girls can make lots of excuses for this, but psychology test after test reveals girls number #1 factor they look for in a guy is status. What men look for is quite different (no less shallow though  ), but not a point of this discussion as the men asking already know.

If you want a girl, go for a prestigious job, be a leader, be outspoken and knowledgeble, do something to raise your status level above your peer.

I'd love to see the journal references you're pulling these from. Merely because I was under the impression that the research had found the rules of attraction a tad more complex than that....

In other words...my equal?

Actually..favorite line from a song..
"Show me a man you cannot break, and I will show you heaven." ~~ Liz Phair

Btw..having dated the guys with the new cars, town houses, frequent flyer miles to burn (on me, on tickets to wherever), designer suits, and 6 figure incomes....maybe it comes a bit with age but -- those guys want the same thing. A girl to take to business dinners that is hotter than their friends wives with a great resume...a great PUBLIC image. But one-on-one? If she can lay down and move her hips now and then..and doesn't talk TOO much..he's really happy.

Meh, give me my big-hearted construction worker types any day. I'm "statused" enough for both of us. :?

Yes, there is more to it, but like I said, that is the #1 factor. My psychology study references include: evolutionary psychologist Douglas Kenrick (1987), Lewis Thomas (1971), Glen Wilson (1994), David Buss(1994), Alan Feingold (1992), and I can give more if you want.

From Buss: "Studies from 37 countries from Austrailia to Zambia reveal...Women everywhere feel attracted to men whose wealth, power, and ambition promise resources for protecting and nurturing offspring."

I'm the same way flymop. :( Lately (read: last couple of years) I've been really depressed and my work performance has suffered because of my relationships. Well, LACK of relationships would be a much better term.

I'm TIRED of being alone.

Im alone too ;; but I have friends that are girls, but I just dont know how to nudge it into relantionship status.
Im joining the military, and I was wondering if military girls are any different from civilian girls in terms of dating and such

Strid, I do understand what you're getting at. I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but you do have legitimate points in your arguments.

Yesterday was me and my girlfriend's 4 month mark. I haven't shaved for about 2 weeks, and she told me "If you want to grow it out, go ahead. I'll live with it, because you mean more to me than anything, and I'm not gonna let some facial hair get between us." (Or something close to that, I can't remember the exact words). My point being, when she said that I immediately knew she was getting attached to me on more than just a physical level. She can't live without me emotionally, and THATS a good feeling. :)

haha, so true. most of the guys that i end up liking i dont even think are that cute. If a guy can make me laugh, genuinely, and has good taste in music, I'm a sucker.

Alright well this topics totally gone seven ways from sunday to say the least :P . Anyway the thing i struggle on most is the very first thing/things you say to a girl your trying to pull. Seriously you walk up to someone and then what? what on earth do you say?

Like I said before, Notice something about her that you might know something about or can comment on. Your surroundings are key to starting a conversation. An Easy example of this would be talking to a girl in a video store. If she is looking at the latest action flick and you may know who is in the movie or something about the movie simply say something about it or ask her a question about it. Then listen and repsond. Its really easy.... but practice makes perfect.

Getting a friend to introduce you to a girl might work. If a friend of yours knows this really nice girl, then he could tell you some things about her ahead of time, then set up a date for you 2. With some background information on the girl, a first conversation might be easier.

Like was said before, use the current situation. If you can find something, mention it. Ice breakers are where it's at.

For example, today at work, I was on break for 15 minutes, so I headed up to the break room. Up there, we have a computer that is used to train new employees..It has this stupid annoying training program. Everyone dreads it, but we all had to do it. Well, there was this cute girl sitting there, apparently a new employee. So I talked to her about how much fun she must be having with the training. We ended up talking my entire break, and she slacked off training the entire time to talk. Ended up getting her number, and made tenative plans.

And if all else fails, and you have nothing to talk about, smile! You see a girl, she sees you looking at her....Don't look away or stare dumbfoundedly...Just smile, biggest ice breaker of them all.
