Because of College and other things going on at the moment, I haven't had as much time to do anything as I would've liked. That being said, I do appreciate the open-endedness of FFXIV, but at the same time I'm not entirely certain what I should do or where I should go first beyond the first few cutscenes.

I'm on Istory and started off as a Wildwood Elezen Conjurer in Limsa Lominsa. I talked to the NPCs in the Wench inn, or what ever that place's name was... And I was told to start off by trying out some Guildleves.

Before I do anything, I want to hear a bit of feedback and suggestions as to what you guys think a starting player should be doing first.

Give me a general opinion. I'm all ears.

Do the missions first, they'll give you some of the easiest exp and skill points available, and when you finish them they'll give you lots of money. If you're not sure what to do for the missions check your journal, select the "quest" listed, and press the map button and it will show you where to go. If it has a faded map and a ??? in the middle select NPC linkpearl in your main menu.

After that, I suggest buying some new weapons / equipment with your money so you can try out the various classes. I started as a GLD but found that what I really liked was PUG. Guild leves are good for exp and SP, but until you gain access to rank10+ leves they aren't that great for making gil if I remember correctly. If you feel like having an "adventure" go get to the other three cities for teleport access naked race style.

Oh, and if you need an LS I'm sure Tak or someone in his LS will be happy to give you a pearl. For some reason they all flocked to Limsa Lominsa so finding you shouldn't be hard.

bazaar wind and other shards or hire Retainer to do that for you , a lot of mobs drop them , crafting is fun , you will lvl up fast with it
you use anima to fast tele to other areas you visit , the recharge is 6 anima point per day , so don't spend it a lot

in case in DoW and DoM all melee and magic classes can use other jobs ability and spells
