GG SONY! A Possible PS3+MGS4+New Dualshock Package!

It wouldn't boost them much more than just releasing MGS4. It's a convenience package, nothing more.
 
Xbox tried the same thing with Halo. It didn't really do a whole lot to boost sales.

I can't imagine that the PS3 will have much more success. It will have more simply for the face that most people already had xbox'es when halo3 came out, and a fair share of people are waiting for this game, and they will buy the package, but its not gonna be like a super increase.

If they don't already have a PS3, but were going to buy one for MGS4, they'll do this deal for the convenience. If they already had a PS3 and wanted MGS4, they're not going to use this deal. If they didn't have a PS3 and weren't going to buy one for MGS4, they're still not going to do this deal.

It's not that hard to understand, it's a convenience for those who were going to buy both a PS3 and MGS4 together; if you weren't going to do that the bundle is meaningless. There's nothing to "boost sales" when the only people who would buy the bundle would buy the contents of the bundle anyways.

That's because everyone owned a Xbox360, of course it won't boost sales.
 
Yeah....Thats what i said too...I also said that this package isn't going to be the make or break deal for most people. For the same reason that the Halo package wasn't. If they were gonna get an xbox for the game they were gonna get an xbox for the game. If someone is gonna get a PS3 for MGS than they are going to get a PS3 for MGS. A package is going to make it look more appealing, but won't make a vast difference like your use of smilies seem to suggest.

Who won't buy a PS3 with MGS4, AND a Dualshock3? "MGS4, and Dualshock 3 lol. MotorStorm ftmfw!(For 80GB which people rarely get with the 60GB" or maybe "MGS4, and Dualshock3 lol. I'll just stick with buying my PS3 onry"

The point Baja was making is that irregardless of a bundle, MGS4 would move PS3s. The bundle itself wouldn't do anything special for sales.

Well, me for one, but as I've said for over a year now, I don't give a shit about MGS4 so this bundle isn't an incentive at all. The dualshock 3 is just the new version of the controller(lol @ sony fanboys who said it's a last-gen feature) so you're not getting anything special with the bundle, only having everything packaged together rather than buy it all separately. It's a convenience, nothing more.

For the third time, the only people who would buy this bundle are those who were going to buy a PS3 and MGS4 at the same time. It'll boost sales almost exactly the same amount as just releasing MGS4 will. It's not going to get those who already have a PS3 to get a new one, it's not going to get those who don't want MGS4 to get a PS3 either. MGS4 will sell some PS3's(not nearly as many as some people think), but this bundle will barely sell anymore than that original figure, if any at all.

Ok, lets say this package was the same price as the 60GB(500 bucks). Would you buy the 60GB only, or this package? Please don't say the PS3 only.And again, as most xbox fanboys state over the years, the PS3's sales is not close to the 360 atm. So why would this not raise sales? I hope you know that alot of PS3 peeps are also MGS fans too.
 
Obviously MGS4 is gonna move more PS3s in itself than a bundle... but, it'll boost sales a little. Some people need a little extra push, and the feeling of getting a good deal can be very mental.

Strangely some products will actually sell other products... like the Xbox Core helped to sell premiums, and the Xbox Elite helped sell PS3s. It's not purely rational but that's the point of marketing.

Case in point, of the people on the fence who finally agree to get a PS3 cause of the bundle... if they go to the store and the bundle is gone, they'll usually go ahead and get a regular PS3 and the game. Once you agree it's going to happen then you start to go for the more rational choice.

As in once you say, "$300 for a core only??? Alright I'll do it!"

Then as you're going to the store to pick it up you think... "might as well get a premium, I'll probably buy the hard drive anyway eventually."

Walmart's entire business is based on this concept. They'll put a flier out for a cheap MP3 player and then put slightly better models slightly more expensive next to it, until the mid range ones are cheaper than at other stores, but you get it there at walmart anyway.
 
Unless it's only 400$ like the 40 gb is gonna be, this wont do shit for the ps3. I know ONE person who has a ps3, and they have it for the blue ray not games. The biggest problem everyone has with the ps3 is the price. Well and the fact it has shit for games, but mostly the ridiculous price. MGS4 isn't gonna sell PS3s like crazy and this package probably wont sell much, unless like i said its released for 400.

Tell those people to learn how to save money if they really want a PS3.
 
Good god. Raider was right in the one aspect and wrong in the other. You have to put the two together. Yes, the PS3's price is what is making people not want to buy it, coupled with the fact that people don't want to pay that much for possibly mediocre games. Telling people to save up doesn't solve the PS3's problem. The lack of games that get enough advertisement to catch eyes and its lack of backwards compatibility are what shoo people away. The price just shoos them that much faster.

If this bundle actually saved money, which there's literally no chance that it actually will; then yes it might push some people to buy a PS3. That's an incredibly big IF though, you're making a very big assumption on what the bundle will actually cost. The motorstorm "bundle" didn't save you a damn thing(and actuall ripped you off on the hard drive, lol $40 for 20 gigs)

A bundle like this: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/826/826128p1.html would actually sell more PS3's than the MGS4 bundle will, because you're getting something that you couldn't just buy separately.

This bundle will lead to a few more sales of the PS3 than normal, but it won't be that much more than the normal sales would have been when MGS4 was released.

Learning how to save money doesn't solve the problem of the PS3 being expensive.
