why would you post the story after you already linked to it in a previous post? why would you do this? ever?

Because its worthy of two posts.

I think too many times in our adventures, people lose sight of where, how, and who, has helped them on their way. Everyone is too busy trying to farm, craft, just plain make gil to buy some piece of gear. A lot of the little nuiances of the game are lost to the ever so belief of not being gimp or trying to be the best.

Yeah, it's nice to have great gear and be at the top of your game, but truly it's the little things, and the people you meet on the way that make this game fun.

The story of Meeting Again makes that point. It shows what people miss when they are on that road to 75. I consider myself very fortunate that I started on a server that had nothing. I got to enjoy the game as it was meant to be, or at least how I think it was supposed to be. Adventure, peril, and fun. Going places you've never been, or coming across some NM that kicks your ass cause you "thought" you could take it. Seeing a world that was so big it could literally take days and weeks just to travel across it.

Thank you Fire for starting this topic. It may not be what you had exactly intended, but your stories of your early days in the game brought back some good memories for me. Romper, the Meeting Again story really brought home that point for me.

Helping people(and yourself sometimes), seeing new areas, paying attention to the stories in the game, and going on adventures is what makes this game fun, at least for me it does. Granted, a lot of people have seen most of the game, but honestly I don't think anyone has ever seen everything.

Good luck in your adventures,
Shmed

When I first came to Valkurm I met a tarutaru white mage. I was a Warrior. I remember I didn't even know what a Skillchain was. Competetion for Subjobs was fierce, and Ghouls would always spawn claimed. Every night we searched for the skull. Unknowingly, we had formed a static party.

WAR WAR MNK
WHM BLM RDM

Finally, we all gathered the Subjob items.

Since we had spent so much time together, we also leveled our subjobs together.

The first time we went to Jeuno, we were wiped out twice. I can still clearly remember the shouts of joy when we finally reached Jeuno after the long struggle. To commemorate, we all scrounged up every last gil we had, and purchased an LS. The Taru WHM who lost the dice roll became our leader. It was fun.

I thought we would be together forever.

Was it around the time the Taru WHM had learned teleports? Gradually, we all drifted apart. The cause was the Taru WHM. Always quiet and calm, she started to avoid daily repetitive, killing and leveling up. Without realizing, the gap was too big. The other members who wanted to get stronger, become high level, could no longer party. The level gap became too wide.

One day, she suddenly made an announcement.

"I'm sorry, I'm no longer useful... please find another WHM."

Even before she made the announcement, our members had started to grow apart. We continued competing with each other. Now, when I think about it, I don't know why we wanted it so badly. I think I just wanted to become more powerful. First one person left, then another, then I too found another LS. Finally I maxed out warrior. The Zilart expansion hadn't even come out yet. Since I had achieved my goal, I decided to level THF in order to make money. Then Zilart came out.

My THF was level 58. Wanting to explore the new zones, and because THF had the ability to "Flee", I decided to go as THF. Returning to my hometown of Bastok, through Korroloka, I arrived in Altepa. I had no map. I didnt know where anything was. Aimlessly wandering around, I happened to find the telepoint.

But there was something else there.

...my old friend, the Taru WHM.

She was in WHM AF, sitting there quietly. Next to her name was a familiar colored LS dot.

It was the LS we made together.

No, it must have been a similar colored LS. But somehow, I had also knew it wasn't.

She noticed me. She smiled at me warmly. Then a tell came.

Long time, no see. You look like you are doing well ^^

Maybe she realized unpleasant memories of me. She started to /cry.

I'm sorry bout then. I really wanted to apologize. If someday we met again, there was something I had to tell you.

In the glow of the telepoint, she held a small taru child, with odd hume facial features...

You're the father...

Biten ass nicca

I was getting all sentimental until the last few lines...I feel like a fool now.

My Mentor

/p (lol) Thus far I have had two mentors in game and I had two mentors outside of the game who told me all about it before I started playing a lot. I had a lvl 10 warrior for about a year or so during that period of time. Some of you might remember Wong Fei Hong ,and Putaah. They were both my good friends IRL until their untimely passing. But I remember getting hammered with Wong on multiple occasions while he told me all about the game. And how to do this, and how to do that, and what equipment he got the day before and so on. And I remember Putaahs' glee when he was playing and hit something really hard with a top tier spell. They made me interested in the game.

But when I started to get serious and play all the time my new Mentors have been Kotsu and Hollie. a 75 whm and a 75 rdm (also 75/drg ) and they have taught me more then anyone else. they helped me with quests and missions. I am now a level 44mnk/25war and a lvl 60 smither going strong with their help. Without them I would be lolscrewed.

My mentor(s)? Wongfeihong, Skiewalker, Hollie, Limubai, Zyndara, Roadkill, Renomaru, Kloud. I had a lot of help throughout my time here on this game; and I play with the 7 remaining players now, well two of them not as much as before. XD I'll grab my Serendipity pearl out of my mog safe later ^^

Forged by Reality. He's the reason my WHM is 75.
