I had this conversation with a person I know ingame. I'm sorry I didn't have enough time to crop out all the unecessary information. Please bear with it :(

It's about transferring gil across servers:

If you think the screenshots are too hard to read, and some parts are redundant, I'll summarize the main points we were trying to make

Please give your input on this matter. Why do you think its acceptable? Or why not?

I missed the screen of this part.

Me: imagine player X goes out and kill gigas, they drop 500gil each kill for him
Me: player Y goes out and kill gigas, they drop 1000gil each kill

Missed screen again.

Me: how about player Y hacked into the files and make it that way?

People come up with all sorts of justifications for cheating... No one likes to admit that their actions could possibly have any negative impact on anyone else.

why do you protect the identity of these people? i want to know who they are.

IGE does an exchange rate program but it is hardly one to one, I think 1 million gil typicaly gets turned into 400k ish.

seawolf is corret, he'll cause inflation by doing that.

But meh... ive given up on the gilsellers thingy, I just decide to enjoy the game now ^^

Is it acceptable? Not according to SE and their usually not enforced guidelines. What seems like SE's lack of enforcing rules/regulations have cause some people to take advantage of the situation and make some money using the loophole.

The people who are doing it for business, aka real money. Where opportunities lie, people will come, regardless whether its legal or illegal.

So........... the bottom line is.... I dont think its acceptable, but damn, at least they cant(not yet) transfer high lvl chars(right????)

Hm... This is a rather tricky subject. Is it wrong? Depends on your point of view, and how the gilseller's coffers affect the economy on that server.

First off, you all need to understand something. This transaction doesn't move gil from one server to another. It simply has one person giving gil on one server to the gilsellers on that server, and the gilsellers on a different server giving gil to another character owned by the same character on the second server. Example: let's say I have characters on Fairy and Quetzy. I want to give gil from my Fairy character to my Quetzy character. I give the gil I want to give to a gilseller, and then another gilseller that's on Quetzy gives the same ammount of gil to my Quetzy character (at least, the same "value" of gil, as gil on some servers is worth more than on other servers, at least to the gilsellers). No money is actually going from server to server.

Now, on to the gilsellers and the money they hoard. Does it affect the overall economy in that server? If you give money to (or get money from) a gilseller, is that money effectively destroyed (or created) and completely removed (added) to the economy? Or does it still factor in to the server's overall economy? If it still affects prices on those servers, then transfering gil like this doesn't really do that much harm - it isn't creating or destroying gil, so no real damage to the economy can be done. If the gilseller's gil is "inactive" until a player buys it, though, then yes, this will damage a server's economy.
