For you see there are thousands of reasons a subjob shouldnt be gimped, but heres a better question. WHO THE HELL WOULD INVITE SOMEONE WITH A GIMPED SUB?! Example: Im in qufim today with my 20 bard LFP. guy named "Brb" invites me. At first its a blind invite, then after 2 minutes of me not responding, he starts to talk. Ok so i accept. I check whos in the party. Theres 2 white mages. Unusual but ok in Qufim really. One of them is White Mage 20/ Black Mage 1....... :roll: I ask him wtf is up with that, he says "I havent gotten around to training it" ANYWAYS back on topic. Wtf are you idiots thinking when you see a White Mage 20 with a black mage 1 sub. I mean if you already have a friggen healer you dont need a gimp to fill the spot. I'm sorry but that is just rediculous. You shouldnt be inviting them! Read decidence's party making guide! NOW!

Maybe the person was new and didnt realize the reprocussions(sp?) of not having a subjob. I know that not too long ago we had a newby come into our LS was trying to lvl 21rdm/1blm. She didnt realize actually what she was losing from having a low sub. Some of the new players just need educated and I would assume 20/1 person is new.

Not saying ALL Mentors are bad people/players, it's just that SE is not very strict on the requirements for eligibility. Unfortunately, it is just a few bad apples that spoil the program, which is why whenever I see the (M), I immediately think that person is an ass.Mishaela said:

It is true, some don't know that they SHOULD level their subs or think it automatically levels as they progress on their main. Many just scroll through the text when they do the Sub-job Quest and do not bother to read it. Others are just lazy and don't want to go through the whole process of leveling from "1" again (not knowing that it goes by much, much quicker, the second time around).
Or possibly he wants to be a SMN or BRD... get to 30, get SMN job and go play that. I mean gimp sub is lazyness, but tell me someone that plays FFXI that isn't lazy at one time or another.
Yes, having a lvl 1 BLM sub is like a loss of 50-60 MP or so, but there are not really any other benifets from BLM sub. Cut him some slack, he probably didnt know any better.

I would have informed him that it is better to have no sub at all than a lvl 1 sub. At least then people will assume you have not gotten your sub quest completed.

Someone's got to accept me...", it's more of the "Man, I'm going to level my subjob and then level asap" I don't know. I respect people more if they have a properly levelled sub.
In the case of the level 20 with a 1 sub, it most likely is someone new.

lol I remember getting into a party in the jungle where we had 5 members and were looking for a 6th. We were all searching for something that was in lvl range and i saw a bard!! At first I thought that it would be cool since i havent had the pleasure of partying with a bard for a while. But then I look at his sub... lvl 6 rdm :shock:

You know I full agree w/ gimped sub but Im guilty of it myself on serveral continuing occasions. ( Dont flame yet I have good reason)

I don't have as much of a problem with some gimped subs as some people. Yes, I definitely prefer them to be leveled, but saying I won't party with someone with a slightly underleveled sub would be hypocrytical for me. I was a WHM75/BLM36 for a couple months until I had done enough escorts to level black mage without getting a party. Plus, I had basically stopped partying on whm, so I didn't seeking for a lot of invites anyways.
Unless they are missing out on a useful spell, ability, or trait, being underleveled by a level or two isn't a big deal. The only difference between my 36 blm sub and my 37 blm sub is 3 mp, which is an insignificant difference. A 9 level difference is just laziness or ignorance, and neither is a good excuse. While they might not have known, they should have noticed that most of the people had leveled subs, and figured out that there might be a reason why those subs are leveled.
