Oh boy!

What an exciting weekend. I went scuba diving in Jamestown, RI with a bunch of buddies and good lord was the water cold! We got a couple of dives in and we saw some neat aquatic life. I just got home actually and was logging on aim and about to go get a shower when I get roughly 8 text messages regarding QCDN! What a way to top off the weekend.

I am faced with a lot of decisions at this point that I need to speak to my current team with to find out a solution.

I also need to look at my current mod staff. For those who are wondering, There are normal Mods (VG Official, LS Manager, CC&AH Limecat [love that title], & Dynamis Coordinator) who report to the Super Mods via another board, who report to myself and Reeve. I was thrilled when I let Arc on the team. I'd known him ever so slightly through Welkin, but he seemed like a cool guy. Here's the catch. He actually goes that step further and will back up what he does and not give in to what people say here. The way things were, most people should have been jumping for joy to have a mod like him. So I will be looking at Arc's position and seeing what to do about that. Frankly, I want him to stay on since he does a lot of good to the site. If he decides to step down, that's his choice...but I won't be a happy cat.

There are also a couple of mods that I will be looking at given some recent posts and behavior that we've viewed in the last month.

I have a lot of things I would like to say, however I will keep them to myself for the time being.

It is apparent that there are a few individuals on this site who must rely on a third party to resolve a difference, and there is only so much that can be done before we realize that it's a lost cause.


And for Phraust to giggle at..."Somehow, somewhere, I know this is all going to land on my shoulders"

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there is more than one Jamestown? The one with the Pilgrims is the only important one.

Jamestown was Pilgrims? I thought Jamestown was down near Virginia and the Pilgrims landed up north near Massachussetts at Plymouth Rock.
 
That was the biggest city i thought? Either way, american history is for noobs.

I personally have only seen the tip of this iceberg. I don't participate in many of the various rants and raves here, mostly just read them for comic humor. Even this one made me chuckle.

This has to be the very thing that brings this all full tilt. Arc, you and I have never spoken, never clashed, never agreed, nothing at all up to now, but, professionally speaking, you're not doing too well keeping your cool here. Imagine you went into work one day and saw your boss arguing with someone about, I dunno, something small, in front of everyone in your office. Would you still have any respect for him/her? Would you have more respect for said boss if they had taken it behind closed doors, kept w/e personal business they had out of everyone's else's?

Just think how it looks to see "Super Mod" next to your name and see this public display of
immaturity. Now that it is out on the table, though, no holds barred. Lower yourself to a member-standard, and so it shall be. Gotta say though, aside from this feud, you seemed like an alright guy from what I had seen.

No, Jamal is not perfect, but now we all see that neither are you. It would indeed be unfair of us to ask otherwise of you, you are in fact human, but would it be so that we ask for maybe a little restraint?

Seems to me your "crusade" is the very thing you criticized Jamal for doing, the very thing you call him a hypocrite about. Perhaps I am overstepping my bounds on this one, but I do hate seeing Jamal publicly bashed by someone I "should" consider a professional. I guess a title doesn't guarantee professional actions, even when someone can keep them so hidden as on a website...

God forbid you moderate because you care about the board, at least we know your true reasons for moderating.

I really didn't want to make this flame, but it just irked me that much to see this occur. Arc, I'm sorry if I have offended you, but it needed said. I fear this is only going to escalate until one or both parties have "armies" against the other and qcdn is divided.
 
Judging from the past that Arc, Jamal, and the rest of the staff have, i don't know why people keep saying, "Deal with it behind closed doors" when that is how it has been done for almost the full amount of time with no change. So arc made an open flame about a member, and he is seen as unprofessional. Personally, i don't see why professionality (word? It is now!) is even being brought in. This isn't a profession, its a hobby that arc does for the most part out of the goodness of his heart. I'm not naming mod/admins, but where were all the people crying foul when a mod posted an IP address of a member and said, "If anyone can do something, do it".

Jamal will always be Jamal. That isn't something that is going to change. He will continue to call things as he sees them, and as long as he keeps bringing his A game logic, there isn't a whole lot that can be done besides argument. As long as both sides think they are right, there will be a pretty consistent war of words going on. Some parties being a bit more subtle than others.

In short: Mods, given your current situation, i think you guys are doing a bang up job and should keep it up.

Jamal: I've butted heads with you once or twice, but i always knew you were a good guy. Maybe you should take another vacation?
