You are confident about that statement?
Two parts went into that decision, both of which are pretty simple. My decision to take the DL pits his difficulty against my team's strengths and balance. Day to day the DL's difficulty stays the same. Yet because we had not attempted him, I do not know his true difficulty. That is, I can only know his relative difficulty based on others' attempts and their perceived strengths. The team's strengths and balance does not stay the same from day to day. Sometimes we have a good balance. Sometimes we do not. I'm sure you have heard me grade the balance of the invic team from time to time if you're in the main alliance, from A to F, A being we have every one in the right combinations that we could ask for, and F being we can't realistically enter the zone or it would be a waste of time given the current setup.
Thus, the decision to storm the castle that night was twofold. First, loldynamis beat the DL. That automatically tells me that he's not as hard as I had perceived, and thus the threshold for going took a major hit as soon as I found that out. Second, the balance was right that night. Somewhat because I put a call out for anyone to be there who could be there the night before. Mostly because it was a good random show and time.
So in review, the DL's relative difficulty took a hit when that relatively undistinguished team beat him, and our balance looked good that night. You may call it not knowing what we're doing and rash. I've known how to kill the DL for over a year now. Everything you could ever steal from the JP sites and consider difficult. The fight's not hard. It's not accomplished. You follow the formula and you'll beat it. It takes no brains. It takes no leader. All it takes is 35 of the server's "best" or 45 average joe's. We will take the average joe's.
And above all you cannot ****ing bind the DL at the mage camp on the pull. You try recovering from that BS and doing ANYTHING to him. No opo necks were used. We had 35 people if I recall correctly. We recovered from an absolutely abysmal pull situation which left the DL bound and hammering the mage camp and got him to 70-ish. The dragons spawned and before they even got to camp we got hit with a smash.
We got the typical 1st-try results without the gunner tactics. We didn't opo. We didn't reraise. We got the typical 1st-try results in the face of an abysmal misbind that threatened to throw everything into chaos.
That is, we made it hard on ourselves, and did as well as most do period. Pardon my lack of fear that I will take the DL from the elites of the videogaming world (aka distinguised losers of the earth). When I do, look for the pathetic fools to up their limbus bragging by 450%. They'll retreat like they always do to the next best place that is non-peregrine. They should tuck their tails and run now if they know what's good for them. Staying here on the shaky ground that is the DL is simply putting their egos into further risk and liability. This cookie is all but mine, kids. Run away.
