Mac= Rabies

PC= Will Smith

You see where I'm going with this.

Macs are damn PCs. Linux boxes are PCs. If you work on it personally, and it is a computer, then it is a Personal Computer.

"PC" to a Macjunkie = Windows Workstation, but Mac-cultists cannot compare their machines to a "workstation" because it'd imply that one could actually do "work" on a Mac ;)

This is of course making the assumption that a Mac could be qualified as a computer, rather than the more likely designation: Waste of money.

Though I love the implication... I actually did the math comparing the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of Mac vs. the TCO of Window's Machines.

If the equipment is in use for 4+ years, as many PCs are in many corporations, Macintosh actually provide a better TCO. >.>

I hate them too though and much prefer my PC.

What exactly is being included in your TCO calculation? Because in the 4+ years i've had my PC in the basement, I haven't had to spend anything on it, aside from things you need to buy regardless, like games and perhiprials.

That's the trick. There are no games or peripherals for Macs, so of course it is cheaper in the long run.

Jealousy is so bitter.

Mac, no.... Apple products change all the time and so does the price. I swear its like the Mac Books get smaller and smaller or something like that like every other few months or a year.

i.e iPhone

My cousin was pissed about what they are doing with it cause he got one the day it came out.

Moreover,

So you edit my post, but let the guy taking a pot shot at me keep his full post. Great start I say...

I edited the one sentence out of your post, because it was a blatant flamebait, and 5 posts before you Miros said to keep it clean. I edited out the flamebait to keep it at least boarder line civil.

I'd say i am doing a pretty good job.

I also haven't tinkered around enough to reliably give out infractions, but that's not something i really want to do anyway.

So I guess flamebaiting is fine as long as it's grammatically correct and the person saying it has a god complex. I will keep that in mind. Don't mind me while I browse the board and tell everyone they have no idea what they are talking about. But in a nice was, of course.

If you do feel that my act was grossly wrong, i encourage you to PM miros/arc about it. I'll be the first one to make an apology if i'm wrong, and very publicly at that. You have my reason for my doings, and this is as far as i'm going to go in this thread.

I just feel if you are going to start editing posts, you better be willing to go through all of them. But if you honestly feel that Phraust's post is not flamebaiting me as well by calling me out, then yes, Miros and Arc will hear about it.

Just do me a favor and report the posts. Saying it here doesn't mean I know directly what you are talking about.

Not the place to be discussing it either really.

The TCO comparisons only apply to the business side of things, not personal. The Mac will be more expensive on the personal use side of the fence. I would need to pull up the report again sometime, but the biggest factor was the cost of security.

RedHat had a 3 year recurring enterprise contract for a steep fee.
Windows XP operational costs relied on a normal distribution of costs of threat management and recovery.
Macintosh held high up front costs but low maintenance costs.

If you really want more detail, I can -- but the report I did was bullshit and not at all fun to write.
