So, I did it again. I slid on ice, fell, and now i have this huge scrape on my knee. The worst part? This is the third time I've fallen this winter because of ice..

It all started one night a month or so ago. I got home around 2am-ish, came up the walk, and realized my roomates had locked the door.. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.. I had put my keys in my purse, so i stepped back a little on the top step, let go of the door handle, and flip my purse in front of me.. I then lose my footing because the step was covered in ice, and topple down the steps, landing on my right hip. I managed to bruise my right hip pretty badly, and cut up the side of my torso pretty bad on the cement.

So I lay there for about 3-5 minutes trying to decide if anything is broken.. Tbh I was a little in shock, because it was 2am, I was tired, and i just fell down 6 steps. I finally managed to pull myself up..At this point I'm crying because my right leg is killing me, and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to walk, let alone maneuver up the steps.I did manage to crawl up the steps, find my keys, and unlock the door...Then drag myself across the house to my room....

FAST FORWARD..to the next day.
So my friends and I were out and decided to go back to the house, and hang out. So I'm driving separately..And get there about 7-8 minutes before them. It's about 1030pm.. I'm walking up the steps.. Now, the weather had warmed up to about 45.. There was no ice anywhere.. or so I thought. I get to the second step from the top.. This time I'm being careful.. I'm holding onto the railing, and my feet slide out from under me, and I go tumbling down once again........ this time my landing was pretty bad.. b/c I was holding on to the rail, and didn't let go until my body slammed into the steps about 3 times. I ended up with some really bad bruises.. my left leg had a bruise about 4 inches in diameter.. both of my elbows were bruised.. My left upper arm had a bruise the size of an apple..

Needless to say, the next day I bought some ice melt, and covered the walk and the steps with it..Then held on for dear life to the rail and took it very slow for awhile till all the ice melted.

FAST FORWARD to today..
So my roomate and I went to the store to buy a new plunger..(Roomates friend flushed about 7 paper towels down the toilet after being too drunk.)..We get back and I take one step onto the driveway, which I thought had no ice on it at all. I managed to step in the one damn spot that had ice on it.. and fell. I now have the giant scrape I mentioned before and a rather large bruise..

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not the most unlucky person, or if I'm just incredibly klutzy. Either way I'm just wondering if anyone else ever has this kind of ridiculous shit happen to them. I feel so stupid..lol.

I fell on a patch of ice in the sixth grade. I was returning from the gymnasium at my middle school with my science fair project (a demonstration in how different types of wings work), and I was overloaded with project boards and apparatuses.

I hit the patch of ice, my feet went out from under me, and I threw the science fair projects every which way. I wasn't able to plant my hands under me fast enough so I did hit my head, which split the inch-thick ice sheet (under the ice sheet was concrete though). I pulled hairs in the cracks of the ice, nearly suffered a concussion, did suffer a massive welt on the back of my head, and a headache that lasted for well on a week.

Ahh...school days.

I was at work a few Sundays ago was cleaning off a table when all of a sudden I somehow loose my footing and somehow land on my hands and knees in front of 3 tables dropping the tray I had with glasses and silverware all over the floor. Two of my tables saw the fall and immediately went to help me up, even offered to pick up my mess for me; I landed on my knees and had tears in my eyes while they were helping me and told them not to worry about it trying my best not to cry in front of my tables. I felt very embarrassed, needless to say, and my manager almost sent me home after that.

Yeah. I'm north of you in Southeast Michigan. We had our first ice storm of the year in about December. I walked out to my car to start it for a warm up. Everything was fine. I left the house finally with purse, file bag and coat. The bottom of the driveway held my doom.

It was like I should have heard Goofy's yell from the old Disney cartoons: "Yaaaaahoooohooooooweeeeeeee".

I had about (what felt like) 30 seconds of air time about 5' in the air, staring right at my feet and I rotated slowly in the air. I hit the ground in the area right across your shoulders and neck and nearly kneed myself in the forehead, smashing my knee on the ground next to my left ear. Yes, I bent completely in half. I laid there, at 8:15am and shouted "I FUCKING HATE THIS PLACE!". Hopped up, looked around to make sure no one saw me fall and jumped in the car. Didn't hurt until the next day. I could barely move and I had vertebrae out in 2 spots and my left hip was dislocated. Being the genius I am I didn't go to the doctors and let my ham-handed father beat on my back until something made a sound that made him want to vomit.

I hate winter, a lot.

im not going to share a useless story of ice falling here but maybe you should toss some salt/sand on your steps to save yourself the pain and suffering.

I would recommend replacing your legs with robot limbs.

I have no idea what the OP is about but I'm guessing ice. Looees, your idea is fantastical. If you ever replace yours with robot limbs, I would like to be the owner of your old legs. That way I can fashion a poking device.

Moral: Ice is bad and slippery. If you don't have sand or salt, try kitty litter :o

Can't recall too many wipe outs ice related... I'm very much used to ice and although I'll come close to falling I seem to save myself.

I DO however tend to fall up the stairs when running upstairs =p then I'll laugh at myself while crying inside.

I'm such a damned clutz. I have taken a couple of very nasty spills because of the ice, but I really don't need ice to fall flat on my ass. >_<

Hope you get to feeling better.

my poor poor kitty. but i guess these bumps on the head & butt explain a few things. lol j/k

That's a good idea.. Seems like I should have had a pair of those months ago. I didn't even know they existed. :)

just be careful... as I found out the hard way... while the pair I had gave excellent traction on ice... on tile or any other hard floor it was just like being on ice w/o them

interesting side note... when I slid across the halls in my dorm on the base... spark flew... it was a fun past time running up and down the hall making sparks fly... of course it also melted the rubber so I went through about 5 pairs in a month >.>;

AND if you ever get in a fight with someone, and get to stompin on their head, you don't have to worry about em getting back up, if your whereing those. XD

I can't say I have any stories to tell about slipping on ice, but I grew up in England and Germany, so I'm sure it happened once or twice. Probably nothing more than a bruised butt but I honestly don't remember, lol.

Sounds pretty sucky though. :x

I vote for you are clumsy D: but that seriously sucks, load up on the aspirin.
