I seriously see no point in them being in the game or having their jobs what so ever, they serve no fucking purpose to the community at all. They just sit behind an LCD-lit screen and serenade you with predetermined, marcoed bullshit all fucking day and "lalala, I'm not listening."

*Breath* 1..2..3..4..5.

Alright, let's start somewhere better. Hi. This isn't really a story about anything in your server, I'm a fresh start on there. Only level 7 BLM at the moment.

I left America on June 16th, 2007 for Iraq. The biggest sandbox in Hell. I was sent there for about two-and-a-half months to oversee how hospitals and medical staff ran and worked around there, and provided training in things like common practice, hygiene, ect. I have done this over the course of two years, with a month in between for vacation.

While I was off making sand castles and telling people that using needles twice was a no-no, my account had been "compromised" (Fucking worst term ever. Can't they just say "hijacked"?) on July 20th, 2007. I returned on August 8th to find out right after I boot up POL and log in to see my Leviathan character, Astrik, completely stripped of all sellable items and gil, and left standing in only my SAM AF pants in Whitegate. I go, "Great.", and then get to bed.

The next day, I decide to deal with the fucking retards we like to call "Game Masters" about my problem. I get the whole, "Good evening, yaddayaddayadda, I'm just talking to you in macros, lemme not read what you wrote and send a tell to you in two minutes to show my fucking ignorance." Needless to say, I get told that I cannot be currently helped and that I need to speak with a Customer Service representative. And so begins the shit-for-brains quest to get help...

Being that the front desk was closed at that hour (GG GM! Good-fucking-game!), I decide I'll talk to them this morning. I get the ICR via chat because the phone was in use. Here is a copy of what took place:

(I'll bold the important stuff to save you from reading a wall-of-text, and editing names.)

You have been connected to ICR
ICR: Hello, Me, thank you for contacting the PlayOnline
Information Center. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.
Me: Alright, no problem ICR.
ICR: In about 99% of these cases, accounts are compromised by
someone giving their login and password out to a friend, room mate,
Linkshell or family member. Please remember to never share your PlayOnline
ID or password information.
ICR: Account security is your responsibility as stated in the
PlayOnline Member Agreement, Article 5: User Responsibilities, Section
5.4: Account Management.
Me: But I haven't gave out anything
Me: Thats the problem.
Me: I left on a medical tour of Iraq on June 16th, 2007.
ICR: By any chance do you possibly use any mods or third party
programs?
Me: No sir. I played on my PS2.
ICR: Did you log on to your account on another PS2 or computer?
Me: No sir. Gaming was not allowed in the area I was stationed at.
ICR: At this point, the only thing i can suggest is to update
your information and change your Password through PlayOnline. As for your
lost items, contact a GM and let them know that you've lost items.
However, I can guarantee that they will reimburse your lost items.

Me: I already talked to a GM about this
Me: And they pointed me to here.
Me: The GM I spoke with said they couldn't do anything and that
I needed to speak with this department.
ICR: The GM asked you to contact us, basically to suggest the
account update, and change of password. we cannot restore or reimburse
items in-game.
ICR: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now,
Me?
Me: Yes, about my item reimbursment. I just send another claim
report to them?
ICR: Yes, GMs' should be able to guide you in the right
direction in regards to item reimbursements. Ultimately, a GM is the only ones
that have that ability.
Me: Okay then. Do I mention that I've already spoken to you,
aswell?
ICR Alex V: Sure, let them know that I've guided you in the right
direction in regards to account security.
Me: OKay then. Thank you very much for your help. It means a
lot.
ICR Alex V: No problem
ICR Alex V: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now,
Me?
Me: No sir, that is all.
ICR: Thank you for visiting our PlayOnline Chat line, Me! Take
care and hope to see you online!

The ICR told me they would reimburse me for my lost stuff. Great, so there may be a slight ray of hope in all this, right?

Wrong.

After two big steps, it's time for a GM to make me take a fucking wide circle. I sign in and contact support. Since I don't play PC, I'll just type out the wonderful conversation we had:

(GM name was left edited, but I will include it if need be, important stuff in bold.)

[GM]>> Greetings Astrik, this is Game Master <Idon'tgiveashit>. Thank you for being patient. I understand you are calling about your
[GM]>> compromised account. I am sorry to hear of this misfortune. Can you please explain the situation to me, sir?
>>[GM] : Yes, no problem <whocares>.
>>[GM] : I left for a tour of Iraq on medical duty on June 16th, 2007.
>>[GM] : I have returned on August 8th, 2007, where I happened to notice that my account had been logged in
>>[GM] : on July 20th, 2007. We were not allowed to play video games at the area I was stationed at, so I was
>>[GM] : unable to log in. I logged into this charater and found that all of my sellable items and gil were gone,
>>[GM] : too. I spoke with a [GM] <blahblahblah>, I know that isn't the right name but it's similar to that, last night
>>[GM] : who in return told me I needed to speak with customer support. I have already spoken with ICR <namegoeshere>
>>[GM] : this morning, who briefed me about account security. I gave him my details and he told me to contact
>>[GM] : another GM about getting my items reimbursed.
[GM]>> Unfortunately, GM are only able to investigate and possibly return items that have either been dropped or thrown in the
[GM]>> last 7 days.
[GM]>> Also, items that were traded away or sent through <Delivery Box> would not be recoverable.
[GM]>> I am very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
>>[GM] : But ICR <whathisface> guaranteed me that my items would be returned...
[GM]>> I am sorry for someone told you that, but I'm afraid it must have been a misunderstanding, sir.
>>[GM] : I have a copy of the chat.
>>[GM] : He did say, and I quote:
>>[GM] : "As for your lost items, contact a GM and let them know you've lost items. However, I can guarantee that
>>[GM] : they will reimburse your lost items."
[GM]>> Are you absolutetely certain he said "can" and not "can't"?
>>[GM] : Possitive. I had a copy sent to my email as well to show proof.
[GM]>> In that case, I offer my apology again for any confusion, but unfortunately I'm afraid we cannot reimburse your items.

I'll spare you the rest of the conversation. But honestly: What the fuck? Your customer service tells me I can get all my gear and money back, and your GMs tell me they can't do jack shit? What kind of communication do you have going for you there? How long has this bullshit gone on for in the 5 years your game has ran?

And now, that brings me here, and possibly other forums, to let you all know what a fucking three-ring circus SE and POL Customer Service and GMs play out with there customers. GFG, SE, good-fucking-game.

Should I even bother playing now? Should I continue on my Leviathan charater, or suck it up and move someplace else?

Typical GM? O_o

so you want them to give them your items back because you gave someone your account and they jacked everything?

nice.

I said I gave out no info what-so-ever. I don't know anyone who lives around me, nor any of my real-life friends who play FFXI.

WOW. neo YOU DON'T FUCKING READ. he said he didn't give his account TO NO ONE. he got hack and his account jack. learn to fucking read jesus christ.

Is Victim you're PC name?
Biggest irony I've ever seen if it is...

That really blows, man. :/ I quit this game previously for lolSE being retarded. I have absolutely no faith in them or the morons they decide to let be GM's.

Goodluck on quetz if ya ingame, Alegretto is my name send me a /t we can noob it together! :D

So your account was randomly picked out of all the possible accounts that play this game just coincidentally after you leave for a period of time? Okay then.

"As for your lost items, contact a GM and let them know that you've lost items.
However,
I can guarantee that they will reimburse your lost items."

Key contradiction in bold. It's an obvious typo that the person didn't catch. Why would you say "However" and "can" in the same sentence? Especially after the previous sentence? It makes absolutely no sense grammatically. "can't" makes a whole lot more sense.

After how many threads about account jacking you still believe this? Although there is a possibility that someone jacked his CC info, but what are the odds of someone stealing his CC info and playing FFXI? There would be better things to do than screw up the FFXI account.

I said I gave out no info what-so-ever. I don't know anyone who lives around me, nor any of my real-life friends who play FFXI.
So what you're saying is that you were using some form of 3rd party programs that most likely had a keylogger.

So what you're saying is that you were using some form of 3rd party programs that most likely had a keylogger.

I don't see how this could have happened since I use a PS2.

I do run a small family business on the side here and have used the same credit card that I use FFXI on to make purchases. I only have one.

Hey, me too, I play on the PS2 all the time.

So what you're saying is that you were using some form of 3rd party programs that most likely had a keylogger.

Didn't you read? He said that he's on a PS2. Keyloggers are PC only last time I checked the term. PC and PS2 are not the same! PCs get viruses and hacks from time to time if left insecure, PS2s don't because they are not PCs. Understand?

Then someone got your CC info and stripped your account? This really doesn't make sense. IF I stole your CC info I would have done a lot more than ruin you in a game.

So you either gave out your info you're lying about the Ps2. That's the only way someone can get your info. It's impossible otherwise.

Understood and promptly ignored.
Did you read the part where I said I play on PS2?

Apparently you re-read the OP while I was writing my 1st post on this. Where the hell was the edit button? =/
Don't worry, you don't need it.
I don't even have a fat PS2 capable of playing FFXI.

I hadn't considered the CC until now. I'm going to call right now, I didn't get any notices from Visa while overseas.
