how does a dark knight... lvl 69... NONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

haubergeon/hauberk/snipers/spinning slash/absorb-dex/uptodate armor/uptodate weapon

happen?

I happen to discover NA means (Spinning Slash) X because so many meaning about 80% of the 67+ dark knights on our server, 95% of the NA dark knights on our server, DO NOT have this critically important weapon skill. I worked my ass off to get it. But JP dont even read dark knight comments because we suck soooooo bad. its sure sad becasue my comment includes spinning slash, access to sky, warrior/thief lvld subjobs, etcetc. But you know what? No pt invite... or i watch this nameless worhtless wasted pixel person get pt because his name comes first in the alphabet. its not FAIR. It just makes me so mad.... put together in a ballista match the bastard would die die dei dei dei die die die die to me since his equip is that of a 5 yr old. I mean, AF breastplate at LVL 69!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you know anythign about the dark class you will realize JUST HOW BAD this is. ugh.... ugh..........................

I want to mention names but i dont think i will, im sure there are those who know who im talking about. if not BE THANKFUL.

sure the good equip for dark knight costs a LOT. but guess what retard, GO FARM YOU IDIOT. the ppl who are good at their job, the non under lvld sub/ non crap equip / non RETARDS spent a lot of effort to be good at their job not just high lvl in it. you are destroying the name of the dark knight and it makes me sick....

Your rant is very valid; but be careful... Dalecooper will be here in a moment to tell you that you take the game to seriously and need to find more imporant things to care about.

On a serious note: This problem is not isolated in the DRK class. While I personally feel that you'll find more idiots in the DRK job, percentage wise, than any other, you have to admit that there are hordes of poor players in each job.

PLDs decked out in STR and Accuracy gear...
SAMs pimped out on +Attack and +STR, or subbed MNK or DRK...
DRKs subbed WHM...
NINs subbed THF, or without blink...
WARs brandishing Spears and Scythes because they are 'switching to DRK or DRG at 30"...
RNGs without NIN subbed, without +1 Bows/Xbows...
BRDs who refuse to sub WHM or RDM...
RDMs that cant keep the party refreshed and insist on melee...
WHMs that cant use refresh correctly or cure efficiently, or WHMs that try to tank...
BLMs who have no idea how to Magic Burst, or cant seem to not get hate, or BLMs that dont own any of the BLM only debuffs...
SMNs subbed BLM without any avatars...
BSTs who form parties without subbing WAR...
THFs who have no concept of how SA and TA actually work, and refuse to combine them with weaponskills to end skillchains (read; wasting SA whenever it pops up)...




Im sure I forgot a job or two in there, but you get the idea. I know so many amazingly bad Samurai that I thank Jesus himself (Dalecooper) every day that I'm in a static party. This way, I never have to seek while being looked at by most as a 'sub par damage dealer' or passed over by ignorant BLMs who dont understand what a SAM can do for them.

When my static party wasnt a full one, we avoided inviting DRKs or DRGs at all costs, becuase the bulk of them are more likely to suck at their jobs. Getting stuck with a DRK who can stun properly or keep his absorb spells moving (with a RDM) are a waste of time. Getting stuck with a DRG who builds TP slower than the PLD and less damage than the Samurai is a waste of time. Hell, we even got stuck with a RNG/WAR once that missed 8/10 Sidewinders. When we told her what Blink, extra AGI, and an extra Archer's Knife could do for her, she told us that she bet someone that she could get RNG to 75 without subbing NIN. Yeah, I bet she can get to 75... but she would do it a ton faster if she could end my skillchains with sidewinder. Grrrr.

So basically, the point is that you have every right to fume. The job you've chosen has, by far, the worst reputation for harboring awful players with awful attitudes (Come to think of it, Dalecooper is a DRK! Coincience? I think not.)

I'd fume too if I didnt have a static party to fall back on. I wish you luck in leveling up Misty... you were one of the few DRKs that I've met that does their job well.

I've met that guy. I was leveling NIN/WAR in dunes when I see a lv50ish SAM/MNK shouting for a party... in dunes. Wtf?

So, after reading his party shouts for too damn long, I shouted back; "Why is a lv50ish shouting for a party in Dunes, and why are you subbed MNK? MNK sub is garbage on SAM."

He said something snappy like "MNK sub is great, ive been enjoying it for 50 levels."

Then his buddy chimes in with "What would a lv16 NIN know about anything anyway?"

I didnt even mention that my SAM is lv60, and that I frequent SAM-Related forums.

"I suppose i'd say that I know enough to tell you how awful MNK sub is on SAM."

"Stfu noob! Lol what a noob!"

I just laughed and continued with my party at that point. If he wants to play a garbage job combo and shout for groups despite a pretty comprehensive world-search function, then thats his buisness.

Id never party with him, though. He can hold back someone else's group.

Solution: Don't level till you can afford to.
I try my best to always follow that rule and not let it get out of hand.
Also, I try to use the best equipment possible.

It WILL get you out of a sticky situation one day.
 
My "tank" the other day had horrible equipment for his level. Everything was around 7 levels off. He was the only one that got rocked.

Again, gospel. Most people don't believe in this, though... I've asked politely why level 30 WHMs don't have Regen, or why that BLM isn't using Frost, Rasp, Burn, Shock, etc. at ALL, and I get the same response:

"I don't have time to farm"

This makes me laugh my ass off, because they're sitting there looking for group for an hour or more anyway, even for a bad farmer in a not so good area that could net about 8k, which is more than enough to afford the lower-end spells! Even at higher levels, this is an even WORSE excuse, as generally the time spent waiting between invites increases drastically. That means you have more time to farm! Doesn't make sense to me.
 
i cant farm, i simply cannot do it, i dont have the patience or the willpower to run around a zone killing things, so i NM

i can go afk for 1hr+++ depending on spawn rate, come back, thanks to my handy-dandy(im Korny ^^)alarm, and then i usually try to nab the NM get the drop, go afk and hope i get lucky the next time. point in hand, theres always a way to make money, learn it.

p.s. i am not the most up to date mage on earth, there are sometimes large ruts in between a NM drop, and those spells dont come cheap, but lucky for me, o can quest for some equipment, ive used RSE and conq points all the way to 51 where i am now, and in 1 level, i lose RSE boots and get AF boots, then its a constant chain from there, of switching RSE to AF, other than that, i have to fork up the money, on things like rings earings capes weapons (cause we all know aF weapons suck) i even had to buy dark staff, and if thats not a gut wrencher for money, WHAT IS?

What I am really confused is
why so many BLMs don't use spells like Forst/Rasp at the beginning, but threw some (elemental)-II spells like crazy!!? Oh my god!
BLM should be the one to FINISH the battle, not the one grab all the aggro at beginning.. -_-

Another advice for BLMS, please do some research before you join the PT, at lease you should know which elemental is the family of mob weak at! Please don't waste your mp and cast Water on Crabs or Pugils !!!!
How can you know which element that mob is weak at? See what crystals it drops and cast the opposite spell!
 
The idiocy among players amazes me . . . the stuff that people can (and sadly, oftentimes do) get away with, it just boggles the mind. And it makes me cry, because it seems there's always some jackass in my group who doesn't bother to invest even an iota of effort into their character, other than to just grind as much xp as possible.

Like my party in the CN the other night- our "tank" was a WAR/NIN. Looked good on paper. But when I get there, I find that he's using a Greatsword (wtf?) and doesn't use Utsusemi (WTF?!?). Also refused to skillchain, because "when I have defender on I don't do good damage". :shock: *Bangs head on keyboard* What a waste of a party slot. The worst part is, too, that I know I wasn't the only decent player, so if we'd had a better tank could've been rocking all night long. But, having one useless player in a key position just pissed all our potential xp away.

MY GOD I can't wait til I get to 40, where my static will be waiting for me. :cry:
 
I don't know if I should somehow be slightly offended (because im a Drk) or if I should be thankfull im not one of those horrible Dark Knights.

Personally ive had many experiences with other Dark Knights. And.. well, they were all kick ass experiences. Infact I dont remeber 1 time that when I was in a party with 2-3 Drks that it didnt kick ass. All the Dark Knights ive partied with have had good subs (War,Sam,Thf) and have generally had the same gear as me, and I've been using good gear.

I always get up to date weapons and ask around for whats considered the best gear, heck I got all my RSE pieces at lvl 33 because they were the best stuff for me. Sure RSE didnt give much def.. but as a Drk def isnt exactly my strong suite and the stat boosts really helped more. I was able to keep RSE till 40. At 39 I farmed just so I could have one of the new scythes. I compared it to the other scythes in the same lvl range and it was best, and so far its been helping me be the best damn Drk I can be.
I didnt have quite enough conquests points to get my lvl 40 body and leg gear (well, I only had enough for one) so I spend some time lvling jobs to get the CP and now i have my gear. RSE gloves and feet are still good because of stat boosts, imo better that the normal gear id be wearing at 40. Only current problem I have is obtaining the newer spells i have to get. I had all my spells when I needed them before, but lately I've been slacking. I've got my asb-mind and abs-vit (didnt get asb-chr yet) and stun, but after stun i havent gotten any more spells.

I know I need to get them and I will soon enough, but ive been low on gil so pretty soon here ill be farming once again even though id rather be leveling. *sigh*

However dispite lacking a few newer spells (some of which arent really a neccesity) I still do my job in a party very well as well has help out others do thier jobs (if they already know how, ex. tonight I helped set up the thfs SATA off of the pld every pull. She was SATA'n whenever she was ready since i can voke the target off the pld long enough for her to SATA back to pld). Very effective groups i was with tonight. Got to 42 quite quickly.

Personally i havent been in a bad party as a Dark Knight in quite some time. I must have good luck or something. However I find even my good luck cannot penatrate the forcefield of idocy that surrounds Valkrum dunes when im lvling lower jobs. Every once in a while my luck pulls through. And as for other jobs, I keep my eq to use on them so I have up to date gear as Im lvling them. Pretty much the only things I have to buy are weapons, as im using different ones for each job. (G Kat-Sam, Kat-Nin). I used Great Sword when I was lvling Warrior my first time through the game. Wouldnt have had it any other way. Granted, if i was taking warrior as a main job id have used Great Axe, but Great Sword work very well too and it was able to prepare my GS skill for Drk. Double bonus.

Rereading that.. there's quite a lot I sure could edit and fix. Idiocy for example.. but ya know what.. its like 6am and I need sleep. *conks out*
 
You know, it's been two weekends and a few weeknights that I've farmed for that Emperor Hairpin. As a L30 THF. And yah, if I did spend a few more nights, I could get it. But you know what?

I'M FRIGGIN' TIRED OF FARMING!!!!!!! I NEED A FRIGGIN' BREAK!!!!!!!

So what am I doing? I'm carrying on with my plan of getting my RNG up the level grind. That 250k I've saved is now going towards new gear, stacks of arrows and shihei, so I can be the best RNG I can be WITHOUT the Hairpin.

Now, why after all that time, didn't I get enough money? Is it because I'm a noob?!? HECK NO!!!!

- I've HELPED people with the Windurst dragon AND getting their dang Giddeus Keys, spend one WHOLE EVENING doing just that! And you know what? I LOVED WASTING MY TIME DOING IT!!!

- The market to which I'm providing raw materials has slowed down to a crawl, with all the prices dropping constantly. Right now, my 21 AH slots are taken by stuff that doesn't sell because of constant undercutting due to the laws of offer and demand.

- My higher-level LS mates need more higher-level players to do stuff like BCNMs. Thus, leveling up = BETTER FARMING OPPORTUNITIES!!!!!

I'm sorry I'm being a bit high-strung about such a topic, but sometimes people expect you to be godly and have ALL the UBER equipment, including the stuff that costs MILLIONS when you have LIMITED FARMING ABILITIES!!! So if you do see my Mithra RNG kicking some arse, but wish to complain that I could kick even more arse if I had that DANG HAIRPIN... Now you know why!

p.s.: this is not directed towards anyone in this thread. I'm just friggin' tired of people who say they expect people to have their gear 5 levels ahead of time, even if it takes months to shell out the hundreds of thousands of gils to get it.
 
One thing to remember is that the UBER LEET equipment isn't going to turn anyone from a whiff-whore into some godly can't-miss super-duper high-damage meleer. The benefits you get from things like the leaping boots and emp. hairpin are going to show themselves in the long run, not in the short term. Granted, if you go from +0 Dex to +20, you ARE going to see immediate results, but if you've equipped yourself with moderate stat boosting equip there's no reason to go insane over getting the UBER stuff right away.
