I'm excited to almost be done with the Update and what happens? my computer fucking freezes w/ 1 file left!

I figure Oh well just a little more time til i get on..I was wrong

I try logging back into FFXI and what do i get? The FFXI Update was Unsuccessfully downloaded please Reinstall Final Fantasy XI

And now im sitting here reinstalling FFXI..looks like i wont be on for a while guys
 
So many people are having this problem...weird
 
it happened to me, left it alone for 10 minutes checked back and it was fixed again. i think its just something from so many people downloading it at once that it causes something, whatever it probably fixed itself didnt it?
 
LOL i just posted a similar topic in General Discussion. I kinda went into more detail tho. FFXI uninstalling also screwed up Windows for me, so I had to reinstall that as well. Currently reinstalling >.> if this happens again, im giving up and moving to WoW... and thats saying alot since im a "Screw WoW" kinda person...
 
wow Two of my friends had this happen to them. When you re-install or retry it, make sure you dont delete any key files. One of my friends had to reinstall windows because of it. I'm not sure exactly what he deleted, but it was an option. So read carefully.
 
oh wtf..now i finish reinstalling FFXI and i launch Playonline and it says i cant because DirectX8.1 or higher isnt installed use playonline disc to install it..

I pop in the disc and click install DirectX8.1 and it says You do not have the dsetup.dll to install this blah blah .. I hate SE
 
Same problem. Stuck on the last file, now I have to reinstall. Problem is, I loaned my CDs to a friend when I gave him my 2nd account, so I'm unable to play until I have time to go pick them up.
 
I'm not sure if I had this problem or not. I went to the store while FFXI updated. When I left I had about 800 files or so left to download and 20 min on the timer. I was gone about 45 min and when I got back I had the disconnected due to being idle for 20 min or something message. I logged back in and got on FFXI just fine. Maybe my D/L stopped at the last file then later resumed again? I'll never know.
 
Mine locked on 1 file left for 15min, then went through >.> it's just a REALLY big file I guess.. lol
 
Same as Shaidalyn; my download stuck on that last file for a solid 5-10min. I think you probably jumped the gun; if you had left it for long enough it would have surely completed.
 
Mine stopped at that last file and crashed. So I uninstalled everything. Went to install it again. Downloaded Direct x from microsoft. Rebooted computer. Computer wouldn't restart because a windows file was missing. Reinstalled windows. Called Dell to install my drivers again. Now I have to wait a week to reinstall FFXI.
 
I had the same issue, my DL stopped at about 1%, I left it alone for about 5 min and everything was okay :(
