I just got this in the mail today, and I would be remiss if I didn't inform you that it ROCKS!
The look, the feel, the sheer gut-wrenching, head-smashing, swords-on-chains, kick-assery of the console games has been captured perfectly on the PSP.
First of all, the demo looks almost exactly like it's PS2 big brothers. When the camera is close up, you can see that a little bit is lost, but when you see it in motion, it's amazing they could squeeze so much into the little handheld. Just the scope of everything going on in the background as you cut your way through Persian troops is something that has to be seen in motion to truly appreciate.
Beyond that, the game just feels right. Everything that you can do in the consoles can be done here. Once you get used to the different controls, Kratos becomes the human lawnmower we all know and love. A lot of the standard combos are there and the timing is dead-on, and it's still fun as hell to roll around the screen, tearing up a group of guys.
If you can't tell by now, I enjoyed the demo. It's out in 2008, and I think I can say with confidence that if you own a PSP and don't want this game, you hate America and Kratos will eat your family.
(Now for the discussion part of the show)
Anyone else get to play the demo yet?
Also, it came with a cool little Omega pendant thing. Not really pertinent to the gameplay, but it's a nice touch.
