Nice but em you sure about MSI? i hope you are a pro cuz MSI realy needs one to work good, why didn't you bought the Dual core processor?

Your mobo:

• Supports Socket 939 for AMD® Athlon™ 64 FX / Athlon™ 64 processor
• Supports up to 3500+, 3800+ Athlon 64 FX 53(55) , or higher CPU

Chipset

• nVIDIA® nForce3 Ultra Chipset
- HyperTransport link to the AMD Athlon 64/Athlon 64 FX CPU
- HyperTransport supporting speed up to 1GHz (2000MT/s)
- AGP3.0 8X interface at 533 MT/s (million transfers per second)
- Two independent SATA controllers, for four drives
- IEEE 802.3 NVIDIA MAC for 1000BASE-T
- Dual Fast ATA-133 IDE controllers

nice stuff lolz

because i still have an agp card and i was on a $500 budget.
i didnt want to have to upgrade to a pci-e video card yet.

ya don't have to worry about it to mutch unless you use 2 monitors at once like me

I am currently using...
AMD Athlon 750
512MB DDR PC?
128MB GeForce FX5200

...and a whole bunch of unknown parts because its from gateway!

But these are the parts I am going to order so I can build a new one hopefully by the end of the week next week, and its all from Newegg.com...

Btw, what do you guys think of it? If you feel like it you can reply here or just click the "rate this list" text located just above the list.

Don't worry about getting the dual core yet. They currently don't bench that much higher than your normal socket 939 AMD64 single core chip. They only do better when running multiple applications.

Kittin, list looks great :-) The only thing I would change is I would get an Asus mobo as opposed to the EPoX. Just based on experience and what not the Asus boards tend to do well when overclocking.

Geforce 5xxx series was based on the same architecture as the Geforce4mx series which was badly flawed. I still use a geforce 5600 ultra at times, but it is so weak. You can get a lot more bang for your buck with a top knotch video card than processor. $400 pciE radeon x850xt pe will improve your performance x10 over what you have while a top of the line processcor for $800+ will get you ~2-2.5x the performance.

Sweet Neo!!

My MSI K8N Neo2-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard comes in tomorrow from newegg woohooo! :D

Here are some benchmarks for AGP cards you might want to look at before your next purchase. You can use that to get a good idea of how much power you are getting per dollar. If you are interested, you can view the pciE benchmarks here.

Awesome. Acks, I was actually going to get an ASUS but I changed my mind about a week ago to EPoX. It seems that EPoX is climbing up the food chain, and from the looks of things, are actually stealing quite a bit of ASUS' customers. It was just hard to look away with those reviews.

Wow, so many people shop at newegg huh?

Kittin, you should totally install Coolbits when you get your video card. It's a great overclocking tool for the nvidia chipset.

i guess being an nvidia fan i never really looked at ati much, but i guess things may change
I was a big nvidia guy for most of my life up until recently. I have just been fairly disappointed with nvidia recently compared to radeon's realiable performance, so many little driver bugs that cripple nvidia card performance. I actually got to test out a radeon x850xt recently and was extremely impressed by its performance. The x800 series is an amazingly solid card.

I'm hopefully getting a nice Alienware Notebook PC at the end of this month. Area 51 is the name I think, my friend has a different model and I've seen the thing, it's 1337!

Did you get your MB yet Neo? Mine just arrived 2 hours ago but I guess fedex requires sigs so now I have to go pick it up at the Fedex center after work. :?

Coolbits eh? I'll have to look into it.

Yeah, it installs into the registry(assuming you're using WindowsXP) allowing you to change the core and memory speeds on your vid card through the display properties. It's kinda cool as it also has an auto-detect button too.

Just fyi, I looked at the Alienware site and the Area 51's, but then I took the specs and went to Best Buy and talked to a guy in Computers for about 30 minutes. We custom built my new laptop on their website from their store, and it absolutely screams. I have yet to see any FPS lag, and even people in Jeuno load really fast. I saved $1000 by going this route, and although I compromised a few places (like hard drive size), it wasn't anything that affects gaming performance.

Just a thought.

I forget the make/model of my laptop offhand, but I can get you the techspecs if you're interested.

Val

Edit: Although if money had been no object, I would've gone with Alienware for the look, brand, and the few extras (carbon graphite/rubber casing . . . woah).
