Gold medal for Canada in Equestrian, but should I be proud?

Then make a thread congratulating the horse on represtenting your country in the Olympics and just ignore the rider.

Fair enough, but as Mocheeba said:

However, does the prestige go to the horses ?? Ha I could just hear it.

"Canada gets their 7th Gold Metal in this years Olympics thanks to the skills of none other than Lady-Butter Cup!! What an achievement for this country!"

The Olympics and their announcers don't give the credit to the horse. It isn't "Lady-Butter Cup" takes the gold medal, its the rider.

Big Ben is awesome, I had the joy of meeting him at Spruce Meadows in Calgary years ago when he was retiring. What a HUGE horse! They gave him 11 bran muffins, one for each year he jumped :)

Ian Miller is also awesome and won another really nice car that day.....

Here in Ontario, at the Royal Agriculture Winter Fair, Ian Miller and Big Ben would come sign autographs at certain periods throughout the day during the entire two weeks. I have a really bad picture of myself with him when I was 8 lol. I also rode my pony along side Big Ben during his warm up (I didnt know who it was at the time ha,ha). I also have a Breyer model of Big Ben - yes I am a nerd.

It was pretty sad when he died, but they have a special Big Ben Memorial class at the Royal which is always exciting to watch.
