I...Don't....Know...*gulp*...
OK, I started Goldsmithing 2 days ago and got up to 23 now. Besides being 150k poorer than i was when I started, I'm pretty satisfied. However, being a glutton for punishment, I'd like to take goldsmithing a great deal higher but I'm stuck on something.

At 23 I'm levelling using silver hairpins, then desynthing them back to ingots (not a high success rate but I at least get something back). I'm led to understand that I can level using the hairpins till 27. First off; is this true? Second, every guide I've read from there tells me to make armor which is a serious burden on the inventory space considering I can't exactly desynth it (i think...). Although I have all gobbiebags and 2/3 mog safe upgrades, I'd rather not flood my inv with armor and wait for them to sell on the AH before continuing on with my goldsmithing, so is there anything else I can lvl up on? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

What I did
20-24 - Silver Ingot = 1 Silver Hairpin + 1 Lightning Crystal

Then I did brass gloves and boots. Then the chest piece and legs. Then I stopped at 28.

If you have a San d'Orian mule, make Silver Arrowheads instead. You can't desynth them, but they sell quickly, and I think they'll be less of a loss.

After that, you can do Silver Rings (2x Ingot, Fire) to 32. Make, desynth, repeat. Expensive? Sure, but you knew that when you got into GS. Good luck.

Networking

If you have any friends in woodworking you might be able to get them to buy(skillup) or synth and quiver them for you for a price if you choose to make the arrowheads I'm past silver arrows now but you might wanna check that out and work with a woodworker.

hmm... around 29ish i made Hiraishin.... its a Raiton ninja tool.....
those did good^^
would even HQ them pretty often... something i didnt understand since ive only ever HQed 1 thing while skilling up to date (1 silver hairpin of roughly 100 made.... i have it still to this day)......
Hiraishin also stack

but ur asking for a lower level synth...... well yeah as i said... i made roughly 100 silver hairpins..... and didnt realy desynth them either..... some i tossed.... most i sold (without a mule)...... very timely process.... wish moghancement:Desynth existed back in those days...

Alot of guides and things tell you to make rings... silver rings... copper rings.... mythril rings.......
i usually find a way to skip rings all the time..... rings are usually a big loss in money as per synth.....
silver for example.... maybe synth it for 4k...... sells for 1000-1500 on AH....

Thanks a lot for all the tips guys. I think I'm going to go for the srrowheads/hairpins up to around 26-27 then try out rings or ninja tools (got the Moghancement: Desynthesis so I can desynth the rings every once in a while). Thanks a lot for all your help I appreciate it. Oh and drew, i HQ all the time (the wierd spiral crystal animation with the diff. sound effect) but it's usually on stuff where HQing makes no difference; desynthing hairpins or synthing ingots from ores, its like SE is laughing at me.

i cant say i knew if i ever HQed anything before that silver hairpin.... didnt notice the difference in animation till i was in the late level30s i think.....

hmm... i think i noticed they stopped leveling me up at 31..... or was it 32......... i dont remember...........
should be 30 at least for sure

The thing to note about goldsmything is that Mythril ingots are not highly profitable, they can be if you pay atention and watch the market. Gold ingots are a joke. High lvl goldsmithers undercut the market so bad desynthing gold orcmasks that I think it is 8k loss an ingot. I got Goldsmithing up to 24 myself and wuit my brother got it to 54 and it cost him about 1.5-2 million gil. He also made more then a few blunders (do not lvl up off Jewelery, earings and rings))

yea.. i woudln't go with goldsmithing if i were u...
money only comes in very very very very far later.. and getting up there.. well.. u probalby wont make it

1 thing ive learned is to never make rings, there's always a cheaper option

Mythril Rings is the best thing to do from 41-47 so I dont think thats true... I only lost about 200k during this stage and compared to doing Silver Bangles (the popular second choice) its a much better return.

speaking of smithing would i beable to get a blacksmith thing im level 23 in and need to to raise it. (i didnt want to make another thread so i thought i out it here).

mythril rings wasnt my choice... mine was the silver bangles....
as a result my mule is stacked with alot of silver bangles just waiting for the next silver bangle day to trade in for guild points......

Mythril rings =.... umm... 12k to make and 8k (via AH) return if memory serves correct..... dont remember npc pricing....

silver bangles are 6k to make and will bring back anything from 3k-6k on the AH.... but NEVER SELL!!!.... npc them was 1800.......

yeah yeah mythril rings will save that extra 200 or 300..... but npcs are so nice for instant return.... and i'd rather fail synthesis on a silver bangle than i would a mythril ring....

yea first i started out with mythril rings, it was ok cause i had a higher lvl JP gsmither to sell to direclty

but after i found the bangles recipe .. dammn... i noticed skillups were quite more often too.. iono.. just me
