Good mistell today (and continues tonight lol)

I'll bet some of the people so against gil-buying here even bought gil before. I mean it's been awhile now since you could buy it so there has to be a good percent who buy regularly or else there wouldn't be so many farmers, and different sites that sell it, for such a small amount of people that actually play on our server, I doubt that owners of seller sites would lose money just to provide a service such as virtual money trade.

Prolly gonna get some bashing for this but here it goes. I dont think i completely disagree with what he/she's saying. Now hear me out on this and if u respond to this keep the flame to a minimum please ^^. Now lets say a guy works 52 hours a week and he only has lets say 2 hours to play every day.

Why doesn't he set aside a day or two a week to farm? If he doesn't like the gil commitment of playing this game then he should stop playing. 2 hours play barely covers any end game shit anyway.

Really? Do you all live in the same room and monitor eachother's movements? No? Then you can't make such a blanket statement. For all you know 50% bought gil. It would seem botting < buying gil seeing how many people here bot and still do endgame, yet if someone ever came clean on buying gil it'd be a witch trial.

LOL Your right a witch trial it would be... LOL

The only job that would suit a person who only had 2 hours of play-time per day is bst. And pets don't complain about the kind of gear you're wearing, so even the time restriction isn't a valid excuse. But I do understand what he's/she's trying to say.

When a person first starts out on ffxi, there is no mindset of "zomg gilsellers are the devil". If a player works 40~50 hours a week, earns $60,000 a year, and has a wife and kids when he decides to start the game, there's a very real chance that he's/she's not going to mind forking our $20 or whatever to enhance his enjoyment of the game. Or to give him a head start in the game.

I'm pretty sure we had this discussion before, and it was noted that most gilbuying took place with mid-level players. The levels where the multi-million gil items start popping up. The guy above with a steady job, a family, and other RL issues probably isn't going to mind forking out a few bucks if it gets him the items he wants without having to listen to his wife bitch about his playtime.

For some of you kids though, $20 is a lot of money. Shit, that's like half a day at minimum wage isn't it?

just the other day, prophyt was a gimp blm with int+1 rings and a short sword (dex+2) lol, so who knows he prolly does

WOW I just looked this up cause you brought out "$20"...

Gil 1,000K
$25.53

Now PLEASE factor this..
Average minimum wage is between $5-7 so let's say $6.
You are working FOUR HOURS and fifteen minutes of your RL JOB! To afford -1- million gil.
Are you serious? I mean I know some make that an hour but still -rl job-.. thats a lot more work, for me anyhow, than TEN hours of farming.. and I don't get MORE people to hate me in the process! :P

So seriously.. let alone the morality issues, the RULES issue... look at it as "Do I really want to bust my ass for around four hours for a drop in the ocean's worth of virtual money? I can't see the logic ;;

That's what I was saying. For someone who is getting paid minimum wage, it's not worth the effort to buy a million gil.

But a lot of programmers and techies make $4,000~$7,000 a month. That's about $25 to $44 PER HOUR. Twenty dollars holds a whole hell of a lot less value when you make that in an hour or less.

I'm not saying that I advocate it. But I can at least understand how someone just getting started in the game WITH A GOOD RL JOB could easily resort to picking up a few million to make things easier.

Shit I make $100 US in 4 hours of work, and that is on a hungover day. Just admit it though, you buy gil.

I have it all figured out. If I work 4 straight 8 hour days a month I can pay my rent, my internet bill, my car insurance, and still have money left over for a nice big inch cut New York Strip. Now winter time is a little different, but that is the reason I joined the army lol. Hopefully with all the tax dollars you guys are spending on me I'll be able to up my hourly wage to $39-$42 an hour, and not have to dig holes to get it.

Errr.. please explain how this is working for you. Last I checked Army wages were total crap.

When was the last time you checked? When i went in to the national guard to apply, they pay a pretty nice chunk more then minium wage when you are with them along with the G.I bonuses, and them paying for college. Not sure what shauns situation is but if hes in the army is probably even better.

Consider expenses too... not much to buy, and what you do buy you can get cheap at the base. Even on leave, lots of places offer discounts. But depeding on what you do, it can pay alot. >.>;

I make that in like an hour and a half. It takes a hell of a lot longer to farm a million gil. Gilbuying isn't for minimum-wage people.

I don't buy gil, I've got better things to spend it on (<3 Smirnoff) but I can definitely see why some people would. It's just infinitely more time-efficient for some people.

Lol at a 75bst, 75blm needing to buy gil. This expansion made earning gil way too easy.

Nah nah nah... See I looked into Army, my room mate did Army, and my room mates best friend is in the Army. You can't compare all the OMGSEXY benefits(and yes they are that sexy) to

Room mate's friend makes $550 a week and has been down there a while. Chemical Weapons Specialist. Also, you do not get paid by job you get paid by Rank. P P2 PFC SPC CPL etc... as well as extra bonuses based on overseas, hazardous duty pay, jump pay(airborne), and special forces bonuses.

$550 a week.. you work 9-5 five days a week, simple 40 hours.
550/40 = $13.75 an hour I think? I don't have a calc nearby and my PC one is screwy. You also wake up NICE and early for other things and get details etc on weekend.. it's not as easy as office work and its DAMN WELL no $25/hour. Also, yes your food is free(if you eat at designated times) as well as lodging however internet and accessories add up a -lot- fast.

Sorry but that quote bugged me.. $25/hr my tush.
<3

Shit I almost make $4.5k a month just to sit in my office, usually hungover, watching southpark all day.

Sometimes I actually do real work though. :P

Get good job here, with some training. You could earn around £50 a hour. What is $85 a hour, right now for 16year old you can go to a normal job and earn £12 a hour for working in a supper market.

£22.50 a hr like i am on just doing the accounts on for the shop and shares etc, what in summer from 16-18 you get called in over time and they pay you your normal wage X 2 for what ever job you do. Like to day i worked on the self serve tills but i got paid for my normal job + doublle as it counts as over time as i done over 32 hrs this week.

Edit: work on X mas day you get X4 pay as well alot of shops/resurants do that.

I make enough to keep me in lodgings, keep me fed, keep ffxi payed for another month, and a lil bit to tuck away for traveling.

That is what matters to me.

Same. Most important things in life: house for the family, food for the family, gas, beer, ffxi, and a few other annoying expenses. Think that about covers my expenses aside from new toys every now and then.

Yeah, I won't get into what I get paid but I definately make $25 faster than 1 mil gil without question. My job is dependant upon my performance and my co-workers performance, too. Typically speaking though, on an hourly basis, I can make $ money much much faster than Gil money. And I enjoy my work too, because I do nothing but hang out on these boards all day. o.o;; But I agree with dedalius, not buying gil is based solely on principal. You have better things to spend your money on, and to not buy gil is to keep things fair for everyone who plays the game fair. Besides..... <3 Captain Morgan ^.~

New toys = Spicing up the bedroom or the new Sony TV coming out next month?
+ Nintendo Wii, PS3, Acura RDX, New Jet Ski. -.-;; I'm trying to budget out buying all of this by may of 2007. ; ; I gotta work.

pakomen bed room fun with wife? *gasp* =D
