I've been having some problems with making money and it's really hard when it comes to buying armor and weapons and such. After going on a run through somewhere, anywhere, after i'm done I have a bunch of items to sell, and I sell them, and with that money, I have just enough to get back the potions and items I used on the previous run. None for armor or weapons. So does anyone know any good spots for some good constant farming and money making? I figured the Lhusu mines with those skeletons that constantly pop up on that open track was a great place. Anyone know anything better? Thanks.

For refrence, i'm as far as getting to the King Tomb, at that damn Demon Wall.

P.s. Is there some use to those really rare items you get after Hunts or from some really strong enemy? Or are they things you just sell as well?

Once you get to the westersand...farm the little things with the red mushroom looking heads (forgot what they're called) and they drop some succulant food that's worth about 350 gil a pop.

They are also good to level off of too if you need to do a little of that.

there's no one way to go with farming, do what works best for you... lhusu mines looked like a good idea for me, i tried it for a while, was pretty ok, if you're strong enough, there's an area of the sandseas near where the wyvernking/normal wyvern are where it's a ton of those birdmen... they drop bent staffs pretty frequently for me and those are 1.1k per... remember, the bigger they are and the harder the kill the more impressive the rare drop/steal is.... you can get LOADS of uberleet gears with a little patience and some luck, the wild saurian drops bone mail, it's awesome armor for the period, lots of stuff you can't get or get through bazaar packages will own your normal stock from the shop,

it sounds bad but, almost every mob has ONE good drop, a cool piece of armor that's a low percentile.... kill that mob until it drops, you'll know it when you see it, almost always worth the while.

guys, he baught it once a long time ago, quit dwelling on the past and get over it.

Did anyone believe that?

Another thing to note is that chain levels bring HUGE increases in drop rates.

yeah i went up to chain 40 once, it was pretty decent drops. And the buy it was pretty snap, i agree. But I would of, if i could. But i don't play FFXI anymore, so now, no need to :P

Steal from everything!!

And get Thief Cuff's on your main stealer(s)

Had me going for a second, lol.

On topic: Try different things... In your position, I'd go back to the eastern-most area of the Ogir-Yensa Sandsea, and chain the "Alraune" mobs, steal as well. Once you max out chain level, you'll steal 1 "Succulent Fruit" and get 2-3 to drop, which is 1200-1600gil per mob, which really adds up quick.

Other than this, you could try repeatedly steal from the "Dive Talons" in the Westersand. They have a rare steal called a "Burning bow" which is an attack+63 bow, which sells for... 3-4kish I think(much less efficient than chaining, IMO. But good to have one if you have someone using bows, none-the-less).

the best way to get gil is to lvl. Open every fight with steal and you can get up to 2 items per fight, works well for me, and then by the time i have the gil i need im at a pretty decent lvl and have no problems with bosses or w/e.

I never really had trouble with making gil :P

I never really had trouble with making gil :P

I just xped alot, and sold the items i made during that time, and would have a ton.

But ya, the couerl pouch thingy, and the aged turtoise shells, among many other things once your in mid game cost a decent amount of gil. You shouldn't have any trouble making gil soon

those usatrix things or whatever (The things that look like yagudos) in the sandsea place.. they dropped bent staves tons for me and other things, that made me a nice chunk of change :D

If you have the grimmoire that increases your drops from Aquans, the Henne mines is a nice place. Run from the zone next to the orange crystal to the switch where the jellies drop and spam Fira until they die. Flee back and forth to get them to respawn and get a high chain. You can get like 90 of those yellow jelly phials in about 5 trips which comes out to be around 50k.

*edit* nevermind :o you are only as far as the Raithwall place. Keep what I said in mind for later haha.

Yea, I never had problems either. I just xp'ed, and happened to get drops, and sold 'em. Also was able to make some profit from the 5 Demonsbane I had... lolz

Those damn man-birds never droped a staff for me at all. I was pissed and i was all the way at chain 39. Eventually, none would respawn, even from zoneing in and out 2-3 times so i gave up and went to Lhusu mines and faught the skeletons.

I didnt get any bent staves till I got to the phon coasts

wow XD you guys are sad :P I dunno.. I got a ton.. and I keep getting more.. though I have a lot of those grimace thingies.. just check the bulletin board tons and talk to a merchant a lot.. the more you do the more grimace things will come by. I think like.. checking the board 40 times total gets you 2-3 of those grimace, and talking to a merchant (well since all merchants are linked, any all together) 100 times gets you the others. Something like that (other than the 1 for that quest)
