I give up. You win. I can't promise I'll be off the boards for forever, but I can't rightly in my mind participate in discussions on a board that puts free speech over respect to a multi-cultural forum.

This isn't good times for me, but figured it fitting to post here.

This also isn't me leaving the game, just the forum. I will be on to keep in contact with some people via PM, but hopefully thats it.

Everyone has a breaking point, and I'm close to it. Hearing person after person defending the use of the term really, in all honesty saddened me. My apologies to those who were behind me, I just don't have the strength to continue.

I don't even know what you're talking about since I avoid most of the pointless threads on this forum, but kinda overdramatic don't you think? What is this "term" that you suggest people are encouraging?

Well yes, it was used once, and it's not hard to ignore a word, post, or even a person.
 
Some people don't waiver on issues of racism. Not an argument I want to get into. I'd be more than happy to discuss it, but discussions don't last long on this board.

That is not always true. Some words cut deep. It depends on the individaul who is hearing/seeing them. Me? Personally when i hear/see use that word I make a mental note to add them to my "Ignorant Person" list. I see the use of "nigga" as dangerous as it sort of down-plays the harshness of the original root word. I hate the original thought process behind it and and I feel that dumbing down the word is the beginning of complacency and acceptence. Not a good idea.

Anyway (i've said this on another post but i'll repeat.....)

Don't judge people by the color of thier skin...give the individual 5 minutes to open thier mouth and prove that they are an asshole.

I don't think there is need to use those racial terms either. I am totally against racism, it is very cruel and mentally abusive.

However every person, EVERYONE has at least once been racist in their lifetime. It's human nature, but should not be encouraged.

I don't see them banned.

Then again, they use such words even OUT of the flameboard, pushing flame baiting all over and hiding behind their terrible justifications.

Those of you who know Jamal and myself -know- we don't see eye to eye on -many- things and probably won't.

If this is how he feels, I can respect him walking away if he feels that strongly about people using the more social form of the word (as much as I'd like to say socially acceptable, it never really will be entirely).

It -is- a word I use socially and will continue to do so when I'm around a more hip-hop crowd down where I live...(ugh yes despite my disdain for the rap thread, I do have friends who embrace hip-hop culture and would never dare say it to someone I didn't have rapport with who used it with me first and didn't express a distaste when it was returned in a friendly environment) but I wouldn't spam the forum saying it just to rile him up, though my spoiler in my sig is riding quite a fine line.

I'm not going to say that I'm sorry to see him post here less...but like I said earlier, I do have some very baseline level of respect that he'll at least walk away from something he doesn't believe to be right.

Also, I'll admit that when he wasn't busy burning up like a supernova, exploding at things, that his more constructive posts which did contribute something positive to the community at large will be missed around here.

This is not the appropriate forum, but I can find no better alternative where it would fit. So as long as it remains on civil terms, no worries I suppose.

All I have to offer is that you succeed wherever/whenever/whatever. If you do choose to continue with topics here, then I can only hope it is a more amicable discourse between the mods when and/or if necessary.
