I'm posting this here because I consider it closest to "other gaming". The GP2X is a handheld media device. It can play games, music, movies, ebooks, pictures, etc. It runs on linux and the firmware is open source, making it easy to develop for. It has a nice homebrew community. There are many emulators for it and most of them work flawlessly (PSX is a bit slow). There have been ports greats games like Cave Story, Nethack, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, Quake, Ultima VII and The Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control 2 port).
It runs divx and ogg natively. It has a usb port (4 if you get the cradle) that allows you to use any hardware as long as the drivers have been released for it. It also has TV-Out so you can play all of those movies and games on your TV. Now, the big thing with the F-200 model that was just released is that is has touch screen now. I was thinking about grabbing a PSP until I saw this thing. I'll be saving some money from my next two paychecks to grab it. Has anyone else even heard of it?
