Just a thought - what would y'all think about having a graveyard zone for players who have stopped playing?

Each headstone would be marked with the player's name in green and upon clicking it, you'd get their start date, end date, job/crafting levels and linkshells. You could either buy them for yourself or others and for a little more, you could get fancier headstones and/or additional text for special achievements.

They have weddings in this game... why not arrage a funeral for yourself for when you quit (or get banned, lol)?

That would be an interesting idea, but it would be so cool to have a Farplane like in FFX for that.

You could see their char too=0

File big right? think how big the files for every person who has gone be?

You could have a generic file with only starting gear and the face. If the only difference is the face, and the body .dats are all the same, it wouldn't be that much of a size drain.

That said, being able to see them in whatever gear they (or their friends who bought the stone) chose, would be very nice.

Or, how about if their image didnt' appear until someone clicked on the grave and only then it would go into a mini-cutscene like when you rendevous with your NPC. Think about it, there have easily got to be as many NPCs as there are retired players. SE has a way of storing that armor data, so why not apply the same process to retired players?

As for zone, I was thinking Blueblade Fell. Have a zone line there instead of just the cliff and make the whole former city of Tavnazia a graveyard. Considering the game's storyline, it would be fitting. I don't think completing the promyvions is too much to ask of someone before they gain access to the graveyard. That way, not every Tom, Dick, and Harry who played for 2 weeks would be able to get a stone there.

you talking about storeing these pics on qcdnor ffxi? i thought QCDN, this server has not alot of memory its gone down alot last in april if i rember right
ffxi its mainly saved on your PC side and they just send "load data 1/67/88.dat" etc so idk

Graveyard... in... game... >.<

Or we could just set up a forum and have it listend alphabetically. It could have the person's name/armor/whatever else you need to have to make you guys happy.

this is kind of taking it too far i think. creepy.

then again i think in game marriages are a bit too far too >.>;;

Is this from the guy who has a blog about FFXI?

FFXI doesn't support death. At least not perminately so. Reincarnation onry.

So, the only way that you will find a graveyard in FFXI is if its player maintained. Be it role play or other wise.

Its an interesting suggestion for a QCDN forum. I always felt this forum needed or shall need a good bye/hello forum. Good times just never seemed appropriate to me for the place for Good bye threads even despite them being a chance to remember the good times within the game.

I could easily see this as something to do on QCDN or a private linkshell forum.

At the very least, I think it would make for a beautiful zone. Also, after all the hours people spend on this game, wouldn't you want *something* to be left behind?

So like, what happens when someone starts playing again? That would be kinda creepy.

Could only be done if you delete the char. Either that or if you do the Return to Vana'diel program, you respawn in the graveyard and your stone gets removed.

One hella burn there.

I am going to haunt you all good! I'll be one of those annoying ghosts that randomly knocks stuff down and steals all your rock salt :D

this isn't end-game related lol..

And I was expecting to read something about the JP Taru named "Graveyard".

please keep personal conversations and non topic related material out of here... this is a graveyard idea thread, not a virtual bathroom, flickbix fanboy forum, or personal chatroom. there are other forums for that, thanks. cleaned thread...

So wait. Sandria saying Death isn't in FFXI, and I cite Fickblix as proof she's wrong, and its labeled "Fanboyism?"(wtf?) Death is all over FFXI. The one elvaan's little girl in Tavnazia that was kidnapped by Beastmen. Volker's Father. The Elvaan Queen. The Eleven Miners from Palborough. It's not hard to find something in game that pertains to Death.

Is she giving you handjobs behind the building or something? Because thats a pretty silly thing to "clean up."

sandria's post actually contributed something worthwhile, yours did not.

if you want, i can go through and show you the 5 posts that your random topic spun off and derailed the thread personally... which in then turned into another topic, and lead to another few posts.

however, i think thats a waste of your time and mine.
