Group Foods

If the aoe food doesn't overwrite food efffects already in play I dont see why person cant use em. the only reason I've not used em yet to improve lowbie parties where 1-5 people dont use food is cause I dont know if it overwrites the good effects. Int+ food and hmp food come to mind.
It doesn't overwrite your food, but that requires everyone to eat their food first, which means that you'd have to warn them first; that just about never happens, especially if you don't know it's a group food. Group food is still inferior to most foods already out there anyways, so there's really no purpose to eating it.

3-4 idiots getting a decent but not great damage/hmp boost ect vs 1 guy using good food at low levels.
Thats the kinda situations im talking about baja. worst case scenario is hand over a cookie to jobs that are weakened by the effects.
Of course if everyone is actually using thier own food i'm not going to waste my time with aoe foods when my normal food works slighty better.

Is the food AOE, can you like run the mages away and eat without the melee getting the effect?

How about they change it to something simpler like synthize foods into a single, non-tradable item that when used would give everyone in the PT the ability to choose 1 food out of the ones used to make it. So make something that contains any combination of any 6 foods and everyone gets to pick one, call it a buffet or something.

Mmmm buffet.

As I already said, it's extremely helpful in groups where people absolutely refuse to eat food for some reason and you're stuck with the unfortuity of being able to goto a different group. Hafto say it's extremely sickening how few people actually eat food in places like Dynamis and Salvage.

True, but you could also just leave a group who's too stupid to use food. There are a couple places where not eating food is not a big deal(If you're tanking colbiri, for example), but outside of those few; they're morons.

I'd rather not know how many people don't eat food in dynamis, it'd probably be a shocking number that would depress me about the number of people gimping it up.

If people aren't eating food, I would react one of two ways. First, I wouldn't eat food either. This is for those pre-30 crappy pts you suffer through while people learn their jobs. For higher level pts, I would leave. If I can do better and they aren't even going to try, fuck 'em.

Group food is okay under two conditions. One, you inform the pt beforehand and two, you ensure it only hits the right people.

dune partys only time think these become useful that are small events like bcnm or skill up or other such things.

If someone doesn't or in this case does, eat food, I'd go on a forum and post about how upset I am that someone did, or didn't eat food in my party.

It's more about using a food that is more than likely used for instances like this: One of the funniest BG threads in a while :) . The food itself is mainly worthless and the only reason you'd consider using any is if a party refused to eat food. Outside that situation, it's just a tool to piss off any party members who are unfortunate to be effected by it. In some instances, you can just die and get a quick raise, but in mine, it wasn't possible since I was pre-raise levels and homepointing was a long walk for me. It's not the first time it's happened either. I had a party once before where someone had done it not knowing the food was AoE (just after they were added), but fortunately we could remove it then. The people effected by it went to Sandy (party was headed to KRT), changed to a lowbie job and died. Quick solution and everyone learned a lesson.

Heck, I wouldn't be so angry if a melee (or mage) had done it and had managed to hit ONLY melee (or mage) jobs, but that wasn't the case. I am pretty sure she knew what she was doing. The WHM knew the effects of the food and when I asked her about it, she never made any indication that that wasn't the case.

Buche au Choco.

Sounds decent and the HQ even better for some BLM burns where MP recovery is more needed than a INT boost. Ofoucrse HQ/NQ cookies better, but those don't last as long(hate it when a cookie wears out in the middle of a rest). The food is decent, won't say its the best, but I could see it being used for low level stuff.

For those who thought i was referring to the crappy group foods, I was referring to Buche au Chocolat when i was mentioning group foods to use. my brd character has 1-3 in stock incase i feel like using em although most use cookies.

Hell no.
I've done it with two pre-setup groups of people and in both groups less than half ate food of any kind.

I think normal foods are better than group foods in most instances, however I do agree there are some limited instances in which it might be useful.

While we're on the subject of foods... Why don't they give mages a taco food? Dang it sweets are nice and all, but I crave the tasty tacoy goodness!

You can piss off a party with it. There is a particular food (Nashmau Stew?) that gives negative stats to everyone for 180 minutes.

Group Food Effects
Vitality -10
Agility -10
Intelligence -10
Mind -10
Charisma -10

Go into a dunes party (or whatever) and use it. Then sit back and be amused.

That wouldnt be a bad maat food if the theory is right he copies your stats. Just take an antacid afterwords if you can find one

Kinda suprised at how rare Antacids are, especially since they only cost ~5k per synth (yet they sell on AH for 50k, what the crap?)

How many situations would an antacid be absolutely crucial for a strategy? Especially with the food taru in Lower Jeuno that removes food effects. The fact that nobody needs them and they are rarely bought would explain the price hike.
