Growing tired of this .....

Romper. stop talking out your ass.
OK. time for an explanation of exactly why you use dex over agi in sata viperbite.
each point of dex increases your weapon's base DMG by 1 during sneak attack.
AGI does likewise for trick attack.

So for a regular sata they are equal so far. Next consiver that Viperbite has a 30% DEX mod on it. SO for a SAtaVB dex is technically 30% more powerful than agi for your damage.

Well Right now all i would really love is Thief around level 45 for TH2, But 55 is my goal now because i would really like to see tripple attack in the works, I hardly ever see a high level thief around

People are telling me thiefs get just as much invites at end game so i doubt i will level it beyond that, which saddens me greatly i would love to be one of those high levels that helps friends all the time with there drops hehe

For me it would be Thief 45, then mass farming lol

For starters, it has always been my opinion to load up on accuracy regardless of the melee job even with "decent" accuracy. At your level, there isn't too many options and some of them are very expensive (PCC), but for the ones you can afford, they are well worth the buy.

As a THF, you will need to stand out. The best way to do that is to be the best at your job and that means having the best of gear possible since you need to overshadow those other generic melee who can get away with natural job stats and auto attack. Use the level 14 hands armor with +3 accuracy (I used those to basically end levels), Spike Necklace (DEX will help acc some), Venerer's, when you can afford them either Woodsman or Sniper's, +attack earrings (Use HQ, they aren't very expensive usually and they help you stick out more for future invites), HQ daggers (don't bother with swords, they lack skill and 1skill = 1 att and 1 acc) which are also great sources of acc/attack, and various other armors for +attack (I preferred +attack because I am a mithra). Start off with making two macros, 1 for full DoT gear which should be loaded with acc and attack where you can get it and a seperate macro for SATA+WS gear. If you have a lot of gear, you might need two macros for each or to use extended macros that you can get from windower.

As for actual fights, use /NIN in the case you can't get away without taking damage or there is AoE that shadow will take. Otherwise sub WAR, but I rarely got that chance so I doubt you will either. However, at your level, there are very few mobs which move faster than normal speed so you should be able to do a pull very easily without ever taking a single hit. Although, I will admit, I liked taking hits with shadows so I could skill up evasion when I was no longer capped. Acid bolts are your best friend. I think you mentioned having BST levels to around 50ish, use that to skill up. Get some cheap bolts either on AH or from NPC, charm a pet to tank and go to town until you cap it. Once you do and those bolts start landing even if not every mob, you will enjoy it when they do. When I got to 50, it was pre-RNG nerf though so ranged accuracy wasn't a huge issue as it is today; however, with sushi, it should be a lot easier. Acid Bolts also help remove DEF boosts by crawlers which are very common exp mobs for your level.

Try networking. If you see some members regularly, talk to them and see if they plan on having another party next time you are on. Be friendly, start conversations, and all those types of things. Also, you're in TheFlock which has a large amount of BSTs so I would guess there would be at least one 37 NIN or WHM (common BST subs) who wouldn't mind partying with a LS member.

That is all for now; thereis more, but I don't have time to post it. Perhaps some of the other career thieves can post some of the common tricks of the trade.

I do try and Stick out from the others at my level, I have almost all that gear you listed and then some (i stoped leveling thief at 21 till i finished camping the VE) but the problem is that no one can see my gear when doing a /sea

The search comment already holds a lot for me
@TNL ?,??? food:O
Home point lower jeuno
Then i try and cram in my + stats for sata which is +24 dex +20 agi no food

Beastmasters dont get a Crossbow skill , So i assume you mean for me to go Thf/bst?
i had already planed on trying that hehe

Don't worry about end game, and don't worry about invites. Play whatever job(s) you enjoy most, and that will be that. If, once you're 75, you're seriously interested in endgame (and you don't have to be ... it's got its downsides - timesinks, time commitments, drama ...), then worry about endgame at that point. Some jobs shine more at some parts of endgame than others, but everything's useful to some extent.

And you always have the option of levelling more jobs to 75 to round out the variety of roles you can play (which can include a job to merit on, if you're having a hard time with that as THF, though personally I love watching THFs eat colibri). Just remember: never *ever* level a job you don't enjoy, all the way to 75 - you'll hate having done so, whenever you have to play it. Sometimes you have to level stuff you hate, to 37 for sub utility. And also sometimes jobs suck for a while and then become more interesting (see NIN at 37, RDM at 40/41).

Really? I thought BST could equip crossbows so if they can't, that's my mistake. You could try THF/BST, but I really don't know how charm works in the slightest especially when subbed. THF is unlucky when it comes to skilling up ranged, they only have access to status bolts which are considerably more expensive than standard bolts. At any rate, try to get it capped, it's worth the effort in my opinion so do whatever you can do get close to it. It'll also be a pain. You'll come to realize that anyone who compares THF to RNG in marksmanship is an idiot. RNG spam bolts, you shoot once for pulling and maybe another for the proc on acid bolts and that's it. You'll start to distance your skill from cap because of this. It'll eventually become hard and harder to cap. However, once you reach ToA, acid bolts don't have any effect on many mobs and in the rarity they do, I don't notice as much an impact as I did pre-ToA mobs. At that point, I just let the skill die down in exchange for a more useful bomb core, but in many instances, I wasn't even pulling either.

This is what I have to say about elvaan females.

Sorry but the joke is so easy to make.

I think that essentially covers the basics and you already know what else to do.

The problem with me is that i have a Sort of job ADD, I like a LOT of jobs and i have fun with each of them ... They all offer something diffrent for me to play

The only job i dont like thus far is ninja >.<

I just wish thief in this game had more usefullness compaired to the other jobs, People warned me about thief invites but when i see my damage and my SATA helping keep hate it just confuses me to wonder why we dont have better invite rates..

When i can pull hate off a mutiple ninja tanks in many diffrent pts i know i must be doing something right ..Till i got sata that is

THF at low levels, especially prior to TA, is the best DD around, but once they get TA, it goes downhill. Fast. It's a lot of effort to do that TA and many people do not like the idea of being tricked on unless they are the tank leaving only that 1 job per party that would willingly allow it. Then it takes a few seconds while another member gets beat on to setup up the SATA. It's not always the fault of the THF either, usually it's the first voke or SATA victim who constantly dances around the mob when it shouldn't take more than 2 seconds, but it's always always always the THF who gets the blame.

Once you get 60 though, it does get a bit easier. When you can split TA and SA into two seperate attacks without any huge loss, the hate management becomes a lot easier. You can freely spam SA and TA at your leisure. Also, Viper Bite is a nice weaponskill, but it's luster begins to fade too much like many other weaponskills and Dancing Edge becomes the next best thing. Personally, it was level 60 when I really began to enjoy thief a bit more just for those two reasons. I will admit though, 55 with Triple Attack was a sweet bonus, but no one really even thinks of it unless you are that 55 THF.

Lastly, after rereading some of your comments, I am thinking you might be a little like myself in that you would rather not progress a job without key items; however, I would suggest you ignore every whim. You'll eventually miss out if you don't progress at least one job. I myself am like that where I would level X job and after getting to a point, I didn't want to progress further until I had A item. So then I'd go to Y job and level until I needed B item. I did it with several jobs and what I really should have focused on is getting A item to finish X job which would in turn make getting B item for Y job that much easier. It's just a suggestion, but that's been my personal opinion and if I could do it again, I'd probably have done it like that.

I think it's just crazy that THF doesn't get more invites than it currently does. From Lv30 (SATA first available) until lv 37 (leaving Garilage and going to areas with more defense based mobs) THF is *the* shit. I remember my SATA+WS taking off about half of each mob's total HP. Even then, THF still stacks up quite well until about lv 50 or so. THF lags behind in damage for a good number of levels, then picks up with a vengence around 65 or so. Getting DE is a huge part of that, it's a sweet WS. I've gotten up to 1790 on just DE (no SATA) just screwing around as thf/nin before. Yes, an EP mob, but the fully geared MNK/NIN farming partner wasn't getting near that.

I think the problem is two-fold. Frist, there are some levels where people mainly fight crabs and beetles, which are not ideal for THF (expecially if you go with /nin... /war is much better for those types of mobs). At later levels, especially near 75, there are more choices and THF's are not only viable but actually damn good DDers. Despite that, people still think of the thf/nin sucking it up on crabs at lv 50ish, and so don't invite another thf.

Second, people get lazy and don't want to deal with setting up for SATA pre-60, and later don't even want to do the simple matters of just standing in the right spot and not pulling hate during an Assassin-style TA+WS or SA+WS.

But let's get back to the real point here, she doesn't really need all this info. Lv 37 THF, well equipped and decent player skills LFG. Invite her please.

<3 Yes please do invite

On what Lavi said That is some of it , Like beastmaster i dont want to level that till the harness ...But thats something i can use for a looooonnnnggg time and it will help me greatly at these low levels

But the other thing is that i sometimes like company and i would like to find and have adventures with new people (New jobs means i can get invites 1000 times faster) If i found a static or a duo i would be the most dedicated person to that in any of my jobs just because i know someone will be there with me to chat or have fun with

Me and my friend are current duoing Blumage together from level 1.
One time we got 7 levels one day 7 the next and are now level 30
But hes not on a lot like i am and has less willingness to level other jobs together

If i just can get promy mea done i can get my harness and go back to leveling beastmaster, Its a job i love but what i think makes me wish i could level it more is my LS.. They motivate me more then anything else

all the fun they have every day , Doing new things and haveing adventures it makes me sad to think i can't help them till i am higher level

So let me get this striaght.. the fact that if you have a competent voker meaning you wont get hit by jack shit unless it's a raptor with flee speed if you pull properly and the fact that in my own personal experience its retardedly easy to pull most monsters without getting hit to the point that utsu with it's however many minutes timer before it naturally wears actually wears off on a regular basis must obviously mean subbing war results in an mp sponge?

Your wrong... All mobs can catch you and in any area after you pull the first 2-3 mobs you get into a situation where you have long pulls and mobs will catch you and hit you 1 to 2 times period.

I will semi retract what I said before and say anytime you can't find some decent att gear try to fill that slot with acc... But if you use Sushi you don't need to overdue the acc at that lvl because you won't hardly miss with Sushi at that lvl.

Most mobs move at the same speed as the player, and if you pull from max ranged attack range, such mobs should never catch up to you until you reach camp, unless you have to take some indirect route and the mob is free to cut corners. (But often it's the opposite - you can take a direct route and the mob will take stupid detours.)

For mobs that move faster than the player, yes, they will eventually catch up to you and hit you, and the longer the pull is, naturally the more they will hit you. However, while these are a significant minority, they're nevertheless a minority.

TA and Agi are pretty worthless till 60. It does not work the same as SA and Dex until you get the Assasin trait. I dont know the math behind it all but You can seperate SA and TA and fuck around with it pre 60 to test this theory. If you stand just in the right position you can get a SOLO TA from in front of the mob but behind the tank. Stack some agi and play with that. Itll only net you sometihng around 100 or so and maybe 200 with VB. With SA I was able to pull off near 450 and 600 with VB.

Stack Dex for WS first of all. Stack attack Next Then if there isnt good gear in a spot such as earrings put in Drone Earrings for some AGi because it does help just not as much. Increase from Agi is very small and my best dmg results on WS were with Dex and Attack stacking.

TP gear: No matter what anyone tells you - Always stack Acc for TPing you wont come close to the Acc cap until 75 or so no matter how much you +acc you have. and Thief doesnt get sick pieces like Hauby with att and acc built in so youll most likely trade 15 attack to get 15 acc. And lets face it 15 attack isnt gonna bring theifs DoT up a whole lot during TP. And the few times I parsed my low level thief all the way until 60 I was almost always Top DD but prolly 80% of that dmg was WS dmg so every missed attack is wasted TP and less overall WS's for you. Thief is an extremely diverse job and will change drastically but while your in low level parties Thief + SC = the best setup for overall dmg you can pop out 1k dmg pretty consistently with all the Chain dmg. youll ahve to adjust for every party because even low levels are starting to melee burn so youll just have to adapt.

About Food: Until level 40 or so you can use some attack foods. But 40 I would Stick with Sole Sushi from then on out. 16% Racc is extremely helpful for subbing /war. if you get hit a couple times you can send off a few bloody bolts and not cost the party any MP. Thus reducing downtime. U can Use xbow pretty efficiently until sometime into the late 60's with sushi. After that
Your accuracy gets pretty low and you waste to much time not TPing. Having
those bolts on hands for crabs and any other high def mobs is also nice because you will hit for 0's in some level ranges and that also restricts TP.

I hope some of this makes sense, Most people in this game get into the meleeburn mindset which isnt good for low level thief. Just get your TP and be ready to Setup WS because if you can do that once a fight for 600+ dmg your DoT wont matter because most jobs couldnt catch that WS dmg throughout the entire fight.

EDIT: Dont listen to these people saying you will hardly Miss at that level. I parsed all the way through the level range on thief and the best I could attain at medium levels was 88% and that was on low eva mobs like crabs or something. You wont get anywhere near the 95% cap. Like I said previously 15 Attack is not gonna help your 15 base dmg dagger enough to make it worth while. (This wont hold true when Meleeburns start to begin though, that is an entirely different story)

Um... NO!

Um... YES!

It's because of lag that it seems like all mobs move faster. They don't need latency to figure out where you are, so they'll always be within melee range when you try to run, unless an obstacle obstructs their path, and they fall behind. But when you're chasing them, they're actually further ahead than how it's displayed. If you don't follow the mob, but actually try to keep up with it, you'll be in melee range.

People who /follow, or lock on and chase a mob in motion are retards. You need to have free control of your movement to be able to do it correctly.

It's also how mobs are still able to hit you while they seem so far away, the lag makes them seem as though they are farther away when they are actually quite close to you. Kind of like that disclaimer on car side mirrors.
